I Made Beats for 10,000 Hours!!! 

Hate to be that nerd, but … Malcolm Gladwell made the 10,000 rule famous when he used the Beatles as example in Outliers. But he actually misunderstood the principle. The study he was referencing was about orchestra prodigy’s … I believe violinists, to be exact? In that, study (you would have to do some research to find it; David Epstein broke it down in his book, though), the top violinists in at an elite art/music school-so the best young musicians of an already specially, handpicked elite group-on average, took about 10,000 hours to become whatever the term is for top notch, grand master performer-level concert violinist; in other words, mastery. Gladwell left the part about the violinists who were being studied were ALREADY the best of the best young musicians. He also left out the distinction that … 10,000 hours was only an average. In other words, some musicians reached mastery in 5,000 hours; some in 15,000 or 20,000 … and various other lengths … depending on the person, quality of practice, speed of learning. Keep in mind, they already were considered elite for their age, so there’s a good chance they had already racked up 10,000 plus hours, especially if you consider … these are the type of kids who played 6-10 hours a day growing up, literally. That said … or the take away is: that number is still a good marker to use, so long as you realize that it will be about 10, 000 hours ON AVERAGE … once you’ve reached an elite level, or a pretty advanced level at some skill. So Conductor was on point when he is talking about working on a new 10, 000 hours, and continuing to work … because that is what it takes.

“I just don’t feel like this today” that’s a really wise stand point on making music. If you are putting yourself in a box and not following that emotion within you it won’t translate into innovation. Conductor 🚂 is such an underrated producer.

Found that Environments Record a couple months ago at my local YMCA record bin for a dollar and it's definitely a tricky record to pull from...maybe ambient background noise but totally related when you pulled back from it

EVER SINCE I STARTED KEEPING MY VOLUMES DOWN WHILE TAKING A MOMENT OFF A RECORD THE QUALITY SEEMS TO BE BETTER SOUND WISE. I ALWAYS FORGOT THE NEEDLE ACTS LIKE A MICROPHONE AND CAN PICK UP FREQUENCIES FROM YOUR MONITORS.

I dont use a little TV for background but I like to have some sort of sound going on like a fan blowing so I'm not distracted by naighbors when I'm making music.

sometimes most of us need teachers but everyone is closing their doors on us i remember commenting or sending dm's to producers to just listen to my beats for corrections but to no avail tbh most of these things is very discouraging is like everyone is keeping secrets to keep shining Remember Doc Sebi? i always believe he went with all his knowledge on herbs and now everything is inaccessible (correct me if i'm wrong)
