Funny, I've thought the opposite about our Calif. spiny lobster vs a Maine Lobster. Maybe if I had a Maine lobster fresh from the ocean rather than one shipped across the country it would be different! But for me Dungeness crab is my favorite.

@@officialtassieboysprospecting Dead easy. Boil your cray tails 8 minutes after salted water comes back to rolling boil & then cool in cold water & cut into mouth sized chunks. Sterilise your jars and lids with boiling water. Mix up a pickle made of:- White or brown vinegar depending on your taste / preference. Heat to simmer in a saucepan, Honey to taste, Brown sugar to taste, Be sure and taste the vinegar pickle as you stir the honey and sugar into solution. It should be “nice to taste - ie a bit sweet, not like near vinegar that makes your eyes scrunch up and water. Place cooked cray chunks into jars. Pour in the warmed pickle recipe, until all cray is well covered. Slide a butter knife down inside the jar and press chunks sideways against glass to expel ALL trapped air, then top off with extra pickle juice. Slide a bay leaf down inside the edge of each jar, add 2 whole peppercorns, put on sealed lid & place in fridge. Will keep up to 6 weeks, but ours never last more than a few days to a week because it gets eaten. 😂 It’s good on a dry cracker with cheese, as an appetiser with a ice cold beer. 👍

Yeah my wife actually filmed them while I was chasing the crays it’s very rare to even see them down here in Tassie at least when diving so was amazing for her and to capture them
