I'm 5'8 so I get it. We have a long way to go to get to waist but put our hair on someone shorter and they would be waist length if not tail bone. Oh the pain

Congratulations, your hair is beautiful, consistency really does pay off. I' ve gone back to braids with synthetic hair as a way to avoid hands in hair snydrome, couldnt keep my hands out of my mini twists. i'm on my 2nd set, keep them in strictly for 4 weeks (have twists underneath the extensions). I'll honestly be happy with bra strap length, of only I can master detangling. Love this for you, well done

Congratulations!!!! I am at 18 inches and have been on a journey the past 6 months to grow my hair past this plateau level. I am post menopause and hormones do play here and there but I have managed to maintain about 16 inches of hair but not longer. I have past my plateau already and your channel has given me some ideas. I am a twist natural all the way…partly because I am LAZY and my hair maintains the most moisture in twists. I love your channel! Thanks for sharing and inspiring us natural twist girlies!

Congratulations! I just straightened my hair and gave myself a good trim. Thankfully I managed to maintain a lot of my growth this year. I did 3 regular trims plus a blunt cut after straightening my hair to even everything out. I would say I'm about 1/4" to 1/2" away from waist length now. I don't want to fully claim it as yet. The front half of my hair grows the slowest so it's still at APL. The back half of my hair grows the fastest so it's closer to my waist. Since it's colder where I am I'm going to be wearing my hair straight for about 3 to 4 months washing my hair every 3-4 weeks at a time. I like doing trims for some reason lol. I limit it to 3 to 4 times a year. Going into 2024 by God willing I will try and limit it to 2 trims a year. This past summer I was too lazy with my hair and prolonged my wash day a bit too long. So from now to 2024 I'm going to consistently wash my hair every 3 weeks (4 weeks if hair is straightened). Spring and Summer I'm not going to wear mini-twists ( I mean mini mini twists) but put my hair in medium flat twists. I was my hair and put it in 4 chunky flat twists to give myself a break then put my hair in medium flat twists and wear it for 2 weeks then repeat the process.

wow! exciting? my hair seems shorter at the front but it really isn’t I think it’s just that it has to cover more distance to get to waist than the hairs at the back if you know what I mean! measuring it will tell the true length I guess

Hello may this message find you well. I have been so focused on on my hair reaching to my bum that I have not noticed that I have reached the milestone of waist length hair. 🤦🏽‍♀️ I will need to update my hair photo. Shrinkage is real, my hair in natural braids is at this length straightened. So I wanted to come on here to thank you for helping me to see this milestone in myself. It is like when you are not looking for something you achieve it. I practice old school protective styles with a modern twist.

Uuummm you're way past waist length, I'm SURE of it. I'm waist length now! Literally just achieved this and didn't even realize it until I straightened my hair for the first time again in 6 months. I usually do heat to trim 2-3 times a year. My guy friend pointed out how long my hair had gotten! 🤯😂...... I'm a shorty tho, 5.1ft. About 2-2½ more inches and I'm at tailbone length! Congrats on your beautiful hair journey. It's NOT an easy one! 🎉🥳💞 Happy New Year!

I am praying that I get past shoulder length. I trim my hair often due to the knots and stringy ends 😮. I make all of my organic products for my business Zundrasluxury and my hair and praying next year I will achieve at least another 3 inches. I do trim my hair often.

Most likely it’s your ends they are splitting at the same rate that you get new growth. My advice is to trim off the split ends just a little snip not a hair cut-- and LCO your hair and African thread the hair using 100% acylic yarn, be sure to oil the yarn so it doesn’t dry out the hair, and leave the yarn in your hair for 3 to 4 weeks. This not only keeps your ends soft, but helps to retain length. If you have trouble wrapping yarn at the roots you can cheat by using hair ties to tie your root and then wrap the rest of the strands with yarn. I hope this helps😊 You will need to do this every time on wash day as a protective style consistently to see results. I recommend sealing your creams with grease or bees wax before wrapping the hair.

But then my scalp has become so tender even with loose braids it just swells up. But I know in due time I will reap the fruits of my labor just like you did. I am happy for you.

@@CoilyDiaries I used to do it 1 every week but because of the tenderness I started 1 every 2 weeks or 3 weeks. I used a shampoo and a conditioner but had to stop using the store bought conditioner and replaced it with aloe Vera gel (direct from the plant). I am trying to find alternatives for the shampoo that is more natural. Since I am in a foreign country I find it difficult to get specific products and now I am don’t want to try anything new anymore if it is not natural. Today I noticed a blister despite having my 5 days old braids loosely done.

Due to each person's genetic make-up not all people (women specifically) will be able to grow their hair to great lengths. Just like body hair on each individual person doesn't grow the same length so goes the hair on one's head. Thanks for sharing 🙂.

Thanks for sharing!! I see what you are saying but genes don’t determine length retention they determine growth and rate of growth. I believe most people can achieve great lengths because most of us can grow hair to chin or shoulder length after shaving it off so many times, so the issue is usually not hair growth its retention. ofcourse genes determine the rate so some may achieve length slower but that’s not the same as not achieving it. ofcourse we have to factor in how long your hair stays in the growth phase shedding phase etc but again, there are only very few people who can absolutely say they can’t grow their hair. the majority CAN!!!

Everyone CAN grow hair(if no other health issues are apparent) and because of length retention they can achieve length, however since everyone has a set time genetically in their own growth cycle one has to be realistic in trying to achieve a length that they generally are not able to achieve as the example of body hair. That causes a lot of issues with ones seeing others grow their hair long (bra strap length and beyond) but they are not able to. Thanks for your response 😀
