Drill bits are case hardened Steel which is a awesome metal for making blades. From my research since I have been collecting Quality Single blade knives 🔪 & multiple bladed Pocket knives for decades. I have found it very true that any steel that’s case hardened, hammer forged & Damascus heat treated steel that has gotten all the impurity’s out of it.... They all make the absolute best Quality Knives 🔪 swords ⚔️ hatchets and axes known to man. Probably the best Metal a person could ever get to make the best superior quality hand made blades is old Railroad track 🛤 steel and Railroad Spikes. Because first they have been exposed to very high heat treatments in the making of that metal. Then they are constantly being heated and cooled by the trains 🚊 riding on the tracks. The quality of Steel like that they will hold a razor sharp edge for a long time. In Swords ⚔️ they say the old Japanese Masamune swords was supposed to be some of the best swords & the Japanese have made some of the best blades ever made. I guess that’s just a matter of opinion as far as I’m concerned. I’d like to think that the Germans and some of the Old Countries have made & still do make some of the finest knives 🔪, daggers 🗡 and swords ⚔️on the planet. Also American made knives 🔪 are also some superior quality knives from Top grade steel. I have one knife 🔪 made by an American Blacksmith by old traditional blacksmith ways of hammer 🔨 forging. He made it for me from a old Railroad Spike, heated it and twisted the Handle to look like A drill bit that I wouldn’t sell for nothing. Because it rarely ever gets dull and it holds a sharp Edge for a very long time. When I go to knife shows looking for new interesting and unique Knives to add to my collection, I always look for handmade. I like old Hand made German, Irish, Scottish and American steel knives that’s made the old hammer 🔨 forged blacksmith way. Because 99% of all store bought knives 🔪 nowadays are just made with the cheapest pot metal & stainless steel. You can’t get them sharp and when you do they will not Hold an edge. You can cut with them for one or two cuttings of something and then you’re sharpening your brains out trying to get them sharp again. They’re junk and not worthy to be even called a knife 🔪, dagger 🗡 or Swords ⚔️ . They’re made super fast by machinery out of the cheapest materials available by the multi millions for the market. They’re not even made out of heavy enough steel to make a good paperweight on a desk 😂. The Best Of the Best come all from the process from which the steel went thru to ever get to the point of being a fine Blade. Then it’s the skilled Craftsman or Blacksmiths who make them by Hand one at a time and pay close attention to Detail are the ones who make the finest blades in the World!!!! Who cares if they cost more money a person is paying for that quality & craftsmanship. Like the old saying Goes: You get what you pay for, if you pay cheap you’re going to get Cheap. I have some hand made knives 🔪 I’ve paid way up in the High Hundreds Of Dollars 💵 nearly $1000 each for. Hand made is definitely the only way to go in buying knives 🔪 Daggers 🗡 , swords ⚔️, axes, and Hatchets. Yes they’re expensive but they’ll last a lifetime to pass down from generation to generation. In your case on this video, The Better Quality Drill Bits & Metal Files definitely have a higher Quality Steel in them for making Quality blades.
