It gives me the warm-fuzzies to see artists appreciate each other's work. As soon as I saw the croissant poster I was scrolling down to see if you'd seen it.

Such a great video! However I have to admit the sled cut with a fence at 1:24 makes me very nervous about kickback! But over all a very beautiful video. Keep up the good work

I had the same thought. If the fence had been any closer, someone would be eating a piece of wood. I reflexively ducked when I saw that!

For something that looks so deceptively simple the amount of work and precision needed is eye opening. I'll never look at a picture frame the same way ever again

Since I happen to have the same rockler sled, I tried your method of cutting the miters and it worked out well. That sled is very easy to true up against the blade with a plastic engineer’s square. The result was perfect, crisp joints. I don’t think I’ll need to build a dedicated picture frame sled after all.

I think the frames came out great and I like the thicker spline. My only two cents worth is acrylic really collects dust because of static and scratches easily from cleaning.

My frames I have made for years are almost identical, splines and all. I don’t do the rabbets quite as deep but I may try that next time I mill up some stock. The look is awesome without being distracting from the subject of the frame. A trick I have found on the splines is if they fit a bit tight is to hammer the spline like you are trying to flatten them. Flatten just enough where they slide easily into the slot. When you put the glue on the spline stock it will swell back up so install it without delay. I do this because the spline material is not always perfectly consistent in thickness even when I’m careful. You did a great job on the video. Thanks👍

I think that the slightly thicker splines look much nicer! Safety tip: don't use the mitre gauge and the fence at the same time: kickback is a real possibility (1:20)

@BondeJakob101
@BondeJakob101 2 года назад
cool project. @1:20 please pull the side land back so it's behind the blade, this way you won't get kick back, see @1:23 the wood only has to twist very little so get caught between the blade and land, and if that happens then you’re in trouble. Very nice frames

They came out well, one suggestion when you frame items the art work/photo is only attached at the top not at the bottom, this is to allow movement if the humidity changes and there is fixing at four points the likely result will be buckling of the art work/photo.
