Milliner (hat maker) makes Beauxbatons Harry Potter Goblet of Fire hat (designed and made for the film by Philip Treacy). In this video I will be modifying a plain crown block or poupee head using rope to create a pointy tip witch’s hat. I’ll also modify a mushroom brim block using hair rats. Then I’ll block and put together the whole hat using wool felt. I also made myself an authentic witch’s broomstick to complete the look.

This is my absolute favourite2023 video for SO many reasons! 1. I ADORE this hat and have long wondered how it could be made! 2. I like the lavender you chose even better than the blue original. 3. I was FASCINATED by the way you changed the poupee with rope! I'm always looking for ways to get unusual shapes out of standard blocks. 4. I love swoopy, asymmetrical hats! And this one is especially charming (or bewitching?!) 5. (This actually applies to all your videos -- I just love listening to you. It reminds me of the years I spent living in London and swooning over the hats in Fortnum's and Liberty's! I also adore your "familiar.")

@@ByIlonaMillinery Thanks for your reply! I just finished my first purple box hat inspired by you. If only I can travel like I used to before the lockdown and before having my 2 cats, I would love to see you in person. I live here in the Netherlands but am a filipina, a granny of 7 hahaha. I was thinking of what you would say with my opening sentence. It is true, I love you but not in a romantic way, I know you understand. I thought you are on your early twenties but when you called "husband" then I must be wrong. I have also watched your other videos, I will be subscribing in your dance. I just watch it in my tv that is why I wasn't able to do it. am watching another video of yours right now. Keep up with your lovely work. More power!!!

Hi, I hope that you get your rest and are feeling a bit less overwhelmed by now. The world is very crazy for the moment and I think you did the best thing by sharing how you feel and deciding to take a break from it all. We will find stability again in a while. I know this because this isn't my first time around the dance floor. We had a time like this back in the 70's and the again in the 80's. 2008 was a wild year too if I remember it right. I hope that you'll be up for another blocking session soon, because I can't wait to see how the things you did the last time came out, but anything hat related is a treat. Take your time to rest up, and at least I'll be here waiting for you when you're up to coming back. Yours, Ann

@@ByIlonaMillinery Hi, Good to hear that you're feeling better after the break, take the time you need. Anything hat, or anything related really, is fine by me. I'll be here waiting for you when you are back. I'm really curious how that purple felt hat you made on that weird block and you used hemp rope on, came out. I cannot for the life of me figure out what it's going to look like. Yours, Ann

I love this video. I'm always looking for models to transform on the usual blocks and this video helps me make 40s models like those used after the war, small, slightly tall hats to place on the head and hooked onto something to fasten them to the head, I hope sooner or later more videos for these models will arrive, I love them so much. Thank you Ilona, you are the best for savoir-faire and ability to explain
