I was just trying to make a straight horizontal version like this a few days ago, after a few hours finally got it working, made it longer, noticed that it was breaking at a weird seemingly random place, finally gave up, then saw this video where it's so easy for him and he makes it much more compact and adds fastest possible retraction...

If you skew the definition further, you can just make the block being extended be cobblestone, so you can destroy it and make a new one at the beginning.

I think it wouldnt be that hard. Just by looking at it in the video, I'd guess the contraption theoretically can be triggered from both sides, so if you flip the direction the extender pistons are facing and trigger the contraption from the opposite side it should be able to teleport blocks into the other direction. The only problem remaining then is to flip the extender pistons automatically. As there is a one block gap in front of each extender piston (when the machine is not activated) you can place the opposite facing pistons there and then use a slime block conveyor to shift all pistons by one block. The opposite facing pistons in the gap will receive a 0 tick but I dont think thats problematic as long as you place immovable blocks at both ends of the contraption

The silly solution is to line up two of these next to or on top of eachother but oriented in opposite directions, and have the block come to a rest on each end before being suffled into the next machine and then instantaneously extended

Build it out 10k blocks and use a cauldron -> teleportation

if you don't mind a long 1-wide hole in the ground surrounded by immovable blocks you could probably have a piston door that instantly appears out of nowhere and just sails out of existence when you want to open it. you'd have to crank up your simulation distance past your render distance.

You should look up a "piston bolt" they are not quite the same but people have used them for fast transport for a long time

@@Brax10 yes. They are a pretty optimal way of using pistons for transportation, as moving a block in 0 ticks like this actually won't move entities with it.

No that would be faster for literally any size but I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t qualify as a piston extender

When you 0-tick a block into an entity or with an entity inside, the entity sadly doesn’t move

Think so yeah. Also honey wouldn’t work in this cuz it would stick to the other pistons
