Some tips to get the Cuban coffee just right. 1. Keep an eye on the pot because you want to use the first few drops of coffee that comes out. These are thicker and will help making the espumita. 2. Add VERY little at first and slowly add more as needed. Continuously stir and whip mixture vigorously until thick. Remember you can add more but not take away. 3. You want the mixture to be a pale brown color and the texture should be thick. When you lift the spoon, the espumita should fall off the spoon leaving a ribbon. Once desired texture achieved, pour in coffee while stirring until all the sugar is dissolved.

you should try ethiopian coffee! it’s a whole experience - there’s a ceremony when you visit someone’s house where they roast the coffee beans, bring it around to the guests to waft the smell (it’s supposed to be good luck i think?), and then grind the coffee beans and boil the coffee in a traditional coffee pot (jebena) - though sometimes my mom makes it in a pot aha. it’s the only type of coffee that i actually prefer black :p ps. not sure how contested this story is, but as i know it coffee beans were discovered in ethiopia when a shepherd (named kaldi) noticed that when his goats ate the beans they went a lil crazy lol

I was excited to see you do espuma for the cuban cafecito!! I found a tin/metal cup or a ceramic mug is the best. And you really whick with usually a spoon. My grandma doesnt have much strength but she puts her whole power zone in it. Then you pour the rest of the coffee in that cup then serve everyone from there. You see the espuma float up

i work at a latin owned coffee shop and we brew cafe de olla (sort of) as our drip coffee! the way we do it is we just add dark brown sugar and cinnamon to the basket with the coffee grounds. good quality, fresh ground coffee is key!

I cannot lie, I love being a barista. I’d gladly take a job as that again if offered or I found one. I’ve only worked at local cafes/coffee shops. Never a chain / Starbucks or anything. I was basically the closest thing to closing / night shift manager at my last cafe. Between two people, we had to run the whole place, make drinks, coffee, tea, smoothies, milk shakes, prepare food, grilled sandwiches, burritos, salads, ice cream, baked good, etc etc. it was a lot to do especially when in the weeds of the evening rush people getting off work. It had its rough times, but especially the people I worked with, I loved it 😊

Omg this was so cute!! You really gotta try our Canarian specialty Cortado Leche y leche, it's not dissimilar to the Vietnamese coffee recipe. We do condensed milk at the bottom, coffee, and warm foamy milk at the top (we like to add a bit of liqueur as well for a bit of a kick ;) It creates this really beautiful layered effect and it's very yum.

The reason why café de oya is so time consuming is because it’s usually for special events like Christmas or religious winter holiday events. Most of us in everyday coffee use Nescafé on hot water w milk and sugar to taste

I love brewing a full pot of cafe bustelo, but taking the first mug worth of coffee that pours since it’s so strong, reminds me of espresso, add either a sweet cream or a hazelnut creamer, or even a vanilla if that’s all I have. It’s so freakin good 💚 My last barista job, I would drink so much espresso and cold brew concentrate. My pee smelled like espresso one night I had so much at work that day 😅
