You’re doin fine buddy, been watching you from the start of your journey, I ride every day n still make the odd mistake as most riders do. You never stop learning. Keep it up, you’ll be on that big bike before you know it. 👍
Tommy your doing fine fella.. the key points l thought about on my test a few years ago were shoulder checks and cancel indicators.. when you do the test don't over think it you will naturally do the correct thing as the ride progresses...
that's my biggest concern for the test - leaving indicators on. I tend to forget I have the indicator on if I turn into a really busy junction and I'm processing everything! Practice, practice, though...
Fantastic tommy I done my cbt last September got a 2014 yamaha ybr custom to get some experience on. I was going to leave the DAS until next year but you've totally inspired me to go for it this summer. Your doing awesome mate hopefully we'll both be out on our big bikes this year 👍
You have to see me on my mod 2 test I was making big mistakes in training in the morning Mod 2 test was at 1.30pm pass Don't use the front break around ten miles per hour use rear break come to a stop. U are doing good
I think the nerves make you do odd things, but you can turn it on when you need to 💪 Congratulations on your pass 👌 That's a good tip, my instructor said the same thing on my previous Mod 1 lesson.
I made loads of mistakes on lessons and i didn't have such an involved instructor as yourself, mine was pretty dire and its the second bad experience i've had with him where instructions are often late and he's humming into the intercom or blasting past you on the left for some unknown reason guy is a bit of a bell. MOD1 is booked for next month and i have another lesson as well as a lesson on the day so with a bit of luck i will get past it and onto MOD2 so i can be done with this long slog as i did my CBT in march of this year and its been one long haul due to availability of lessons to get to this point. And you have a rather nice bike to learn on too. I'm learning on a gladius that has been beat to hell and back lol
Oh that is weird behaviour for an instructor for sure! Good luck with your MOD 1, mine is next month and it can't come soon enough. I have ridden a Galdius and I feel your pain, the newer bikes are much nicer to ride. Can you try another training school possibly?
@@TwoWheelsTommy Not if i want to do lessons only other schools are DAS and at this point there is no point in me stumping up £1000 when i can't get the times to work with me and my hectic schedule. But yeah the guy is a bit of a off cuff type didn't even say he was going to overtake me just did it if i had moved over slightly i would of collided with him for sure as i'm learning it was a bit of an idiot move to do for sure. Good luck with MOD1 you'll breeze it since its only 15mins there about and its everything you've already done by now :)
@shutinyanks That's a shame but it's not worth blowing loads of cash on. You'll get through it then you won't have to deal with it again. I hear you about the hectic schedule, it is a job for me to cram in lessons as I am a sole trader, with a young family and a house we are renovating. All of which sap time. But, once it is done, it is done - more time for riding!
@@TwoWheelsTommy ohh yeah i'm pretty much in that same boat, kids, renovating all that jazz its hard work and to throw in hobbies also just not enough hours in the day. It's true once its done its done, and onto just being out there riding where you want. Just a shame over here it's a mixture of no availability from schools and usually the testers are off sick a lot. My guess is because they also have to do car tests on top of motorcycle so no easy tasks for them and it sucks because us guys want to get on two wheels as quick as we can. Anyway best of luck with the journey its been great watching you progress and seeing some of IOW as my parents live in shanklin now.
Can i ask a question. Do you wear ear comms with the instructor velcro'd inside your own helmet or is the helmet supplied by the training company? Cheers
Of course. I use my own helmet. They supply the comms. On my CBT it velcro's inside my helmet, since then we have used an earpiece that loops over your ear. They are all awful!
First go out on the big bike and you were pssing it... coms aside, it's a good first ride out, even with a few mistakes, it's all gravy for the next lessons.. i blew past a junction on a lesson when coms cut out, or slotted into wrong lane a few times. I was meant to tap my head if they cut out, but i hate taking my hands on the handlebars, so waited till i stop..
I'm hard of hearing, even though I've got hearing aids, I also have tinnitus, I done my CBT for the 2nd time, and it was a nightmare trying to hear instructions, but hey ho that's life.
Hey buddy, give yourself some credit. You're doing a great job and I'm sure you will smash it when it comes to the big day. How does it feel riding the bigger bike on the roads that you do.in the 125?
Been a while! Glad to see you've made some good progress on your journey, I had some fun watching back all I've missed. Shame about the ear piece though, you handled it well but ideally yeah, pulling over in a quiet spot and taking a look at it would of been better 😅. How does it feel hopping back onto your 125 after riding big bikes?
Yes it is all coming together nicely thanks. I did consider it but we had already taken a look at it when we stopped and maxed out the volume. Paul was not to know I'd fitted it incorrectly, nor was I any the wiser since the earpiece on my CBT just pushed into the sidee of my helmet. I felt like a massive bellend when I figured out how you are meant to use it and loop it over your ear. You live and learn! My bike is proper tumbleweed after riding the Hornet 🤣
Yup, I hated going home on my 125 after a day's riding on an 850. Two weeks later I had the same as what I passed test on👌. I'm still waiting for my hayfever to kick in but currently have COVID although the test said negative. Keep up the training Tommy, it pays off. You're looking good on that steed👍
Nice, I've been window shopping for a bigger bike but no idea yet what I'll end up with! Still got a bit more time to save up the rest so I'm good to go when I need it! Get well soon 👊
I think you do need to be a bit more mindful on your indicators, but at the same time, you’re riding is good. I also have to say that you do need to lower your visor down and think you’d be better on hearing your instructor as there’s a lot of wind noise, it looks like you don’t like to put it down, but don’t worry it’s a learning process. Good luck, hope you succeed with ease
Funny you say that I have been using the visor down on my trips to the post office this week. I think is because I'm used to riding my MTB with a full face helmet on that does not have a visor (Also I just got some new sunglasses, my previous ones I was using were polarised and this created a distortion in the visor. My new shades are non-polarised.) Thank you 👍
Those over the ear single earpieces are just Aweful because everybodys ear dimensions are different and the DVSA only has a couple of different sizes usually😕 I failed my MOD 2 test because I had so much difficulty hearing the examiner i missed Two very crucial lifesaver checks😮My fault entirely because I should have remembered that we wont be failed if we miss the examiners instructions as long as what ever we do is done safely🤔My Riding school uses the Sena 50s system which is compatible with all the Sena helmet systems right up to the Latest built in Helmet system for The Shoei Neotec 3. The school has at least 40 Shoei full face helmets fitted with Sena earpieces and mics. So they only have to clip on a total of 6 external Sena comms units to cover 2 students for each of the 3 Instructors🙂 My Shoei Neotec 3 Helmet with a built in Sena SRL3 Intercom is fully compatible with the schools Sena System using bluetooth pairing and is two way comms so we can talk to the instructor at any time we need to🙂 I am doing my second MOD2 test next Thursday @10:18 and if the examiner will let me I am going to plug in my In Ear Canal ACS Earplug/Comms speakers into their comms unit instead of using their over the ear speaker🤔 If they won't allow me to use them then I will simply do what I think the exaniner has asked me to do and not allow myself to get distracted from riding safely if I cannot understand the instruction due to poor comms😶 Sort out the comms and I am 100% sure you will pass your Mod 2 easily because your are a good, safe and confident rider😎
Hey, honestly it made it quite stressful - made up for in part by how much fun it was riding the Hornet! I'm sure it will be much better next time now I know what the issue was. Good luck with you Mod 2 next week, I'm sure you'll be fine 💪
No, we can do the MOD 2 test here on the Isle of Wight and there is no Motorway here. There will be some dual carriageway riding though almost certainly 👍
@TwoWheelsTommy thanks Tommy that's confidence boosting for me because I don't want anything bigger than 400cc when I eventually go for my test but I'm happy to just have a cbt for a few years so I'll look in to getting an A2 licence a year after my 2nd cbt
I hate those "loop over the ear" speakers, I had to use one on my CBT and it was the most uncomfortable thing on the planet and then when it come to the point of taking my helmet off it seemed to have grabbed and wrenched itself into an even more uncomfortable position it felt like I was ripping my ear off >:|
Agreed I had same problem on my cbt surely they can fit them ear speakers behind the padding of the helmets like them one you get with the bluetooth things you can get for helmets
Oh really, weird you should say that as I feel much more confident on the bigger bike! Shame the comms weren't fitted properly as otherwise it would have been a great ride 🚀
@@TwoWheelsTommy bigger bikes give you more confidence everyone says the same because you just have more flexibility on them. If they hadn't given me a run down gladius with the footpeg hanging by a thread i'd of been feeling better. The company def needs a new fleet of bikes i don't know where the funds are going but its not on maintenance thats for sure
Awww sorry you did great on the big bike also I meant compared to your first video on the 125 picked up my new bike just over a week ago I brought the suzuki sv650 loving it
@shutinyanks Deffo something amiss with your school. Mine always has brand new bikes (and some older ones too). When I booked this lesson, he told me I'd be on the Hornet, which was great as I rode it on my first Mod 1 lesson. When I got there he rolled another brand new Hornet out of his container in a lovely grey colour. Your guy is not investing in his business. I did read somewhere that my school has the highest pass rate in the country so if you get really stuck get yourself over here 💪
Nice one, you know what I've not ridden in proper rain yet but if I had to I'd rather be on the big bike than my 125 - they feel so much more planted. The extra weight is reassuring and adds stability. I love the bigger bikes 🚀
