My experience was similar in that I saw shapes and patterns initially, but later it took the shape of a floating eye hovering right in front of me oscillating between brilliant turquoise and copper. I swore it wasn’t my third eye opening, haha, because I am massively skeptical. However, the next morning I walked to the lake and watched the sunrise, and watching that sun come up was one of the most beautiful moments in my life. I immediately felt connected, not just to nature, but to all of humanity past and present…and I came away deeply impacted. I swear…whether it was spiritual or chemical- it makes no difference, because the net result was a peace of mind that has forever changed me. I hope to have the opportunity again someday.

Well done :D This is one of the bravest videos you have ever done. It's never easy to talk about things where you are still processing what you have learned - and it's certainly given you lots to think about! Thanks for sharing in such vulnerability. Oh and you are not 'nothing' or 'nobody' or 'worthless'. You have helped more people than you can possibly imagine, and also helped others (like me) to help others in their turn. I don't call that worthless :D

For anyone thinking of doing this, never ever go cold turkey off any type of medication without speaking to your physician beforehand. There are really terrible side effects some of which can kill you. Be safe. Be smart. It’s incredibly risky to make medication adjustments on your own especially depending upon how much you are on and what type.

@@matthewp9217if you’re taking drugs that change your serotonin levels and then take mushrooms that also do the same it’s probably not the greatest idea. You certainly shouldn’t be hearing voices or seeing anything apart from brighter colours or warping shapes from taking mushrooms and that’s from someone that’s taken thousands at once. Also it wasn’t a serotonin inhibitor Lloyd was taking it was an ssri or a serotonin re uptake inhibitor which inhibits the breakdown of serotonin and increases the levels of serotonin in the brain.

This was very interesting to watch. I'm a fellow atheist, but have also experienced energy in different forms around me. I no longer hold tight to militant atheism. I think I needed that at a time in my life when I was separating myself from Christianity and the God of the Bible. I'm much more open to spiritual experiences. Mainly I find those when I go out alone to hike in Mother Nature. I feel very connected and rejuvenated being outside. If you decide to share more, I'm here for it! I think modern society took us away from natural remedies and now we are getting back to them.

I have always had an issue with shutting things that have affected me mentally into little rooms in the back of my head to ignore indefinitely. They opened every single door in my head and told me to just let go, and I experienced all of the trauma and heartache I had been ignoring all at once. It was so intense and uncomfortable, but the next day I felt so light and was able to let so many things go and forgive so many people. It was terrifying for me and unsettling, but so worth it. Even when I was overwhelmed by all the faces I was seeing, there was a love there as they were talking me through all of it telling me it was going to be ok and to focus on only one of them, and that if I just let go it would be less painful.

it doesn't have to be interpreted as God - I would say it's a conversation with the Universe or the collective consciousness. And to answer your question: I don't think governments would like us to have access to these things because they give a feeling of being one with everything, and then who would go to war? How would they maintain control? But just to add to that, these do not cure depression etc, but they provide you with a huge shift in perspective that allow you to deal with it differently.

Hi Lloyd! As an ex JW/ atheist I've also had profound mushroom experiences where I saw dragons that felt truly other worldy, very strange. It really did feel truly paranormal, as if I was seeing demons. I don't believe it was truly an otherworldly experience, regardless of how it felt. In part this is thanks to a book I read called "The Believing Brain" by Dr. Michael Shermer. I'd highly recommend reading it yourself, or anybody else who has had such experiences, it helped me escape the cult years ago and also helped me process what I experienced on that trip. Glad I had read the book before taking them.

Great comment and I love the book suggestion! I'm putting it on my TBR list. Our brains are so complex. I remember a long time ago having conversations with other ex-jw's about the things our own brains can come up with, I've had friends that don't even need the help of shrooms or other psychedelics to access the other world paranormal experiences. There is so much we don't know. I'm also an ex JW (for over 28 years)/atheist (for 18 years), but I'm no longer a hard atheist like I was in the beginning. Everyone goes through their own transition and I think I needed to make that hard separation for my own mental health. I've spent some time in talking to others, reading, and keeping an open mind to the possibility that other things can exist that we have not yet experienced and I'm at peace with the not knowing. Anyway, I just loved your comment and voice of reason.

I did a lot of neo-shamanic rituals on mushrooms in my twenties. It's natural to see the mushroom fairies as angels, demons, or gods. I did for several years. I saw them as angels initially. Interestingly, I was taking care of schizophrenics at the time. I once hung out with the most amazing schizophrenic man I ever knew coming down from a trip. Ultimately, it may just be neurochemistry. My personal take is that the mushrooms shift our awareness to a place where we can see into another dimension. The inorganic creatures you met are a transdimentional hive like collective consciousness. They are made of pure energy. They are actually more like a different species of being than an agent of divinity. This doesn't negate the value of the experience in the slightest. The mushroom fairies are incredibly insightful and love to teach. Matter is tremendously energy dense. They are simply energy. We give off a lot of "heat" which they essentially charge themselves with. I have some of their energy and they have some of mine. In their dimension that makes us "family". The important thing, which if you spend enough time with them you will discover, is that they are not divinity. Worship and adoration, as well as fear feeds them. So they like to make us think they are angelic or divine. I think they are the origin of the trickster gods. I highly recommend you watch Terrance McKenna videos concerning mushrooms. I have had similar struggles to your own, and psychedelic experiences have been central towards my healing. The wisdom and insight can set you free. I just want you to understand they are a species of inorganic being. They don't know the origin of reality any more than we do. Their consciousness is far deeper and more profound than ours, however. I know that's a lot. Welcome to the family. My time out there with the mushroom fairies were the most important experiences I have ever had. Glad you had a top notch guide. I wish you the best on your journey. I would interpret "you are the suffering" to mean that "your suffering is a consequence of the position of your consciousness." You are not responsible for all human suffering. Humanity as a whole is responsible for human suffering. The past several years I have been meditating (with the Headspace app) and studying Buddhism. The Buddhist perspective is very helpful for healing suffering and understanding the psychedelic experience. The Heart of the Buddha's Teaching by Thich Nhat Hahn is the perfect place to start contemplating Buddhism.
@manlyadvice1789
@manlyadvice1789 4 месяца назад
I interpreted, "You are the suffering," to mean that suffering is what makes you "zoom in" on your sensory experience and identify with it, so it may be the primary reason that you identify yourself as an entity separate from others in the first place. This is similar to something Alan Watts said (though I'm sure it didn't start with him). If you were undifferentiated Infinity, there would be nothing to see apart from yourself and you would never be able to see yourself because there's no such thing as "other." Even in differentiation, the one doing the looking is the one thing you can never see. In order to experience an "other" (to more completely experience yourself), you, as God, might dream up all sorts of experiences to have, but it would remain quite boring. At some point, you might want to see yourself in some way that you cannot control or predict, so we might say that an element of ignorance is necessary for the fullest experience of Self. Perhaps suffering is what draws us deeper into the frame of temporary experience so that we don't wake up to remember that we are One God and thereby spoil the game. This would be a decent explanation for the apparently needless suffering we encounter throughout our lives. It would give all of existence a purpose, that being the fulfillment of God's own experience of Self. When God does God stuff (which is all the time), we happen. We occur as behaviors of God and there's no other way it can be (as can be shown from other lines of reasoning).

This "we are all actually god" makes no sense to me. God is usually defined as a seperate entity, with supernatural powers and optionally created the universe and may or may not answer prayers and interceded in human lives and events in the world. This reminds me of pantheism, wherein god is redefined as the whole universe, or perhaps the laws of nature. In which case, what is the word for the seperate conscious supernatural entity who answers prayers; the one most theists believe in? It's just playing fast and loose with semantics to call the universe god. We already have a word for the universe "UNIVERSE". Likewise with the human race. We are not all god by any conventional definition of god. We are collectively the human race. We didn't create the planet or the universe. We can't listen telepathically to anyones prayers or do anything supernatural to intervene. How is it helpful or meaningful, to redefine the word 'god' as a synonym for the human race? I've had many an acid or mushroom trip. The sense that I was god never occurred. But I can appreciate it may happen INSIDE THE MIND of the person tripping. I could always reason that these experiences were not objective. The only thing present other than my brain/mind is the substance effecting it. @@skepticusmaximus184 I absolutely hate to answer with terminology bastardised by Jdubs, making us think we had to convert everyone on the planet through agapē love . . . But here goes . . . Agapē love for want of a better choice of words to describe it, is a creative energy that makes all things possible. When we have agapē love rooted deep in our souls (which Lloyd has shown through his tireless efforts on his channel to support as many people as possible) (possibly even saving many from suicide unbeknownst to him) we take action to make the world a better place. We can't help ourselves. So humble our tiny human brains and try to ponder for as long as we comfortably can on what that creative force can accomplish if it comes from a source outside the known universe. And we can tap into that source limitlessly, love for all of humanity increases, before we know it we're seeing solutions for suffering instead of being part of the problem by looking for someone to blame. As far as we know, agapē love's best work was to make this simulation or whatever it is for us to live on. And experience whatever we needed to experience as humans because we probably started this journey elsewhere and chose to come here. So let's be kind and work towards world Peace with every fibre of our being this year. Roughly 5% of people have been able to unlearn most of the dross they have been taught and are experiencing more peace, calm and happiness, even joy as a result. Roughly 1% of people are controlling the world. Roughly 4% of people are their puppets (sorry Lloyd but the dubs ain't too far wrong about governments either!) If you don't identify with any of those groups, you are probably one of the 90%

I'll never do psychedelics, too terrified since my mental health isn't great already. Some say it helps, I'm skeptical. Maybe too skeptical. I'm reminded of the Tony Soprano scene where he did peyote and ended up using the experience for evil. In any event I'm a lucid dreamer and the stuff i experience (yes, lots about JWs) is crazy enough for me. At least if i get too uncomfortable i can wake myself up. I can't imagine being in a trip that's inescapable for hours.

At 4:15 you called your SSRI anti-depressant medication a "serotonin inhibitor," but it's almost the opposite to that. It's a selective serotonin REUPTAKE inhibitor. This means it inhibits the reuptake of serotonin, so you have a lot more serotonin levels available in your brain. Imagine an SSRI as putting a plug into the bathtub. It doesn't speed up or slow down the tap. It just stops the water from going down the drain. An SSRI has a similar effect. It just allows you to hold on to your naturally produced serotonin for longer.

I know the molecule psilocybin doesn't have a mind of its own. It isn't a god. Ergo, the only conscious entities present (other than other people) are myself and the ones I'm imagining. In 2016 I started experiencing all kinds of weird symptoms of some sort like shocks in my body and dizziness and forgetfulness. Things kept progressing. In 2017 I was diagnosed with a fatal disorder will a life expectancy if I was lucky of 10 years. I didn't know what to do but I had remembered in 2016 when I started experiencing some symptoms I came across someone that just happened to have some shrooms and I decided why not. It was the first time in about 2 months that I had any relief in the shocks that I was having throughout my whole body. They want to wait for about 9 days. So I decided to give myself a dose of shrooms once a month for 3 months. I have zero symptoms for I think around 9 months. I did another dose I think it was a year before I had any more occurrences and took another dose and gone. It does a complete reset and gives you a whole other perspective. I recommended this to people that have MS and depression.

Whatever you end up making of this, I'm glad for you to have had the experience. I don't know how much interest you have in near death experience accounts or what you think their possible metaphysical implications are, but just reading those and listening to experiences like yours (which I think can be of a similar nature regardless of the means by which the transcendent experience is reached) have enriched my life and sense of being, sense of something more real than me as I perceive myself. It has given me a much better outlook on life and removed most of my death anxiety. This video reminds me of this NDE where someone, I forget who, finds himself in a void with all these pinpoints of light. Being an atheist or at least agnostic, he asks the question "Does God exist?" to which each dot answers something different. I think the word "God" is a placeholder for whatever limitless ineffable something it represents. And so it is beyond the idea of existence vs no existence.

By the same logic I shouldn't make any videos criticizing the Bible or God as these would be considered offensive to JWs. Sorry, but life is too short for me to censor myself according to the indoctrination of people I've never met. If watching an ex-JW talking candidly about an experience with mushrooms is "stumbling" to the deconversion of a JW then it's not time for them to deconvert yet. I would add that the number of ex-JWs who are apparently triggered, hostile or otherwise insecure about this video is disturbing, and indicative of how far away from true healing many of us still are.

Good luck on your journey Lloyd! I'd been reading "trip reports" for decades before I tried mushrooms and my experiences were in line with that I'd noticed in the reports: no truly new information. The insights you have while on a mushroom trip are things you really know already but don't spend enough time thinking about. What I've been looking for in all those reports is something that the person on the trip *couldn't* know - new knowledge. If there really was an external entity, I expect this entity could give you this. The experience is profound - the euphoria and the loss of a sense of self, making you feel like "self" is the whole universe, this is something I wish more people could see for themselves. But I couldn't find a god there. Also, there was an interesting study where people were given psychedelics and some were given placebos. Turns out some among the placebo group reported all the experiences of a trip and thought they were on psychedelics. It's pretty amazing that apparently some people don't need anything extra to walk around having deeply profound experiences. Perhaps this is how some religions got started.

Not exactly how I’d choose to spend a trip now, no offence 😂 My exit from Jehovah’s Witnesses and subsequent entry into the world of psychedelics, philosophy and most importantly, gruelling therapy sessions with a professional psychologist have fundamentally shifted the tone of my life from seemingly bottomless depression and suicidal ideation to genuine happiness even in the face of some trying personal challenges and childhood issues. I’d love the chance to chat with you about it sometime if that would be interesting to you. I have been privileged enough to have reasonable experience with a range of psychedelics. I don’t have the answers to deeper questions, I’m just a guy, but if a friendly conversation appeals to you, let me know. Your experience is totally valid. Mine was after leaving the organization and marrying my "worldy" much older husband. I had a caffine crash that mimiced a meth addicts withdraw. I wound up in the hospital because k couldnt feel my body. I was seeinf everything in black and white and sometimes all green. I remember everything was like a badly dubbed chinese movie where mouths were moving and two minutes later the audio would come. I was exceptionally scared. I thought i was on the brink of death for a week and would cry every minute of the day. I would sleep and wake up and start crying. My body ached. My husband came out later and said he thought about putting me in a clinic to get help. Both of us were praying. The weird thing is we were both sober and a voice spoke in my head and i was like whoa did you hear that. And my husband said it sounded like someone say im here. For the next week we would have experiences of my husband having missing time for hours because God was speaking through him and he was consistantly speaking about himself as 3rd person like it was normal. When my husband did remember bits of it he said he felt like there was a voice in his head and the voice would speak in my head and finish sentences through my husbands mouth. It was the same voice. We both felt God was in his 20s doing the dishes because that was the sound we would hear and my husband would also start doing the dishes at the house that we were at. A week before this i asked God to reveal himself if he was real because i was tired of suffering. My withdrawl symptoms lasted for about 2 weeks. Weve talked about the experience for a few years. We even had an angel visit us sitting where my husband was on the couch and speaking through him. He told me i wasnt going to die and im like dont be stupid it happens to everyone. The angel got angry and aaid your not going to die because i said so. Then there was this circulation of air and my parents didnt have air conditioner in their house and the ceiling fan wasnt on. The only thing i can think of for the sudden ghust of wind was his wings taking off in flight and a beam of energy flew through my body making me sober instantly. Every feeling of the withdrawl left emedietly and my husband and i sobbed on the couch for a few hours. The whole experience was so wild and i learned how we were all connected and we have files in our heads that God can use at any time to help heal other people if you didnt know the information. He can retrieve it all in a second. I was taken along the ride with him like i was living 2 realities at once. But i remember the whole encounter like it was yesterday. I had left the organization for two years up to that point and never had an experience in the organization like that. So your experience is completly valid. Thank you for sharing.

So, while I am a deconstructed Christian who is completely unchurched and do not consider myself to be at all "religious" these days, I've also never felt that I could really refer to myself as an atheist. Although I no longer feel that my former religion, or any religion, has a thing like "The Truth", I've never been able to shake the feeling that life is somehow, if not eternal, at least goes beyond our current understanding of consciousness. I've never done mushrooms (would be very open to the experience!), but I am an epileptic. My seizures are well controlled now with medication (haven't had any for years now), but when I was having them, they would always start out in a rather "ecstac" state; that is to say, there have been points at which I've felt like I was in the presence of God (for lack of a better label). Of course, right after that feeling of being in the presence of the divine, I was then overtaken by the seizure becoming global and knowing no more until I regained un-epileptic consciousness (quite the comedown going from "I am about to know all bc I am in the presence of God!", to struggling with what my own birth date is and where, precisely in space, I am 😂). I have this very infant theory that, eventually, humanity will evolve far enough to realize that what we currently think of as God or the divine, is merely a higher level of our consciousness or the natural world. I suspect it will have something to do with quantum physics, but I haven't figured out the details. 😂 🤔

I left the witnesses as a staunch atheist, and while I don't have or want to have any religious affiliation, I do feel like even those of us the most convinced there is no god, would acknowledge that there is some innate desire for something to revere - A greater plane or existence, I don't know. Lloyd, mahalo for sharing your experience. Whatever happened is true for you, for however long it lasts. Everyone is on their own journey…but as I like to remind myself, “We are all alone in this together.” I’m happy for you that you got to peak into something greater than yourself, and at the same time, the truth being in the paradox, you got to see yourself. Very interesting about the “suffering makes it real” thought as well. Part of the human experience is that we get it all: the ups, downs, and inbetweens. Suffering is somewhere on that spectrum of life experience, and it can be an amazing teacher. Without it we cannot become capable of compassion, nor receive the humanity of others as they reach with loving arms to gift us when we suffer, for there would be no cause to focus energy toward. There’s no rationalizing anything on these deeper levels, just accepting them, accepting what we cannot fully put into words once we put the veil of understanding back over our face after we “awaken” from a trip like the one you took. And that’s okay. I hope your introspective journey continues, and I appreciate you taking the time to share.🤙

I don't know, Lloyd. It sounds to me like you decided to quit the medication that a doctor prescribed to balance your brain chemistry so you could get stoned, then hallucinated a god you still wanted to believe in. A god who only speaks to you when you are high--is such a god better than one who only speaks through a bunch of old farts in Brooklyn? How wise is this, and how wise is posting a video about it? You have just handed your critics a huge gift. I'm not against you, Lloyd. Overall I respect you and the good you have done to the ex-JW community, but I think that lately you have made some poor decisions. I hope that this does not come back to bite you with respect to your family.

I fail to understand what this has to do with my family. My critics have abused me so extensively over every conceivable issue, including fabricating things that never happened. If I fretted over how they will spin or circle-jerk over everything I say or do I would simply stop saying or doing anything. The grave will supply plenty of time for silence.

Hi Lloyd. I am an ex JW turned spiritualist person not in the same old religious way we were taught in the organization. When I heard you say you could hear your own voice in your head I too have had that experience, but through mediation only. I believe the voucher heard your soul or your higher self talking to you. I believe our souls and higher selves are the bridge to communicate with the divine, including God himself. Something which as JW's we were taught was never possible or allowed. When I first discovered this I was upset and angry with the Jw's for misleading people as they have been doing. Then I realized that many religion's make their way of worship the be all and end all of your access to God and the divine. Now I worship God in my own way and the fact that I know God loves me even if I never set foot in a church brings me comfort. I just want to to say I'm glad you have exposed the deep inner workings of the Jw's as it helps x JWs who are thinking of returning think twice before making that mistake.

Interesting! I think many people have experiences that are somewhat similar to what you are describing (relating to another consciousness) at least once in their life. In my opinion the lacmus test for the "reality" of any "spiritual experience" is if it somehow makes us less ego-driven, more relaxed and more compassionate towards others. If not it is just a fancy and interesting experience, which is totally ok, too.

I have experienced something very similar to this, on a different drug. The experience for me was not conversational, in that I was not speaking to God and so I didn't get the privilege of discussing anything. I certainly felt like I was God, and everything else was God too. After all, if there is a God, and if that God is omnipresent, what wouldn't be God? I felt that it was the most objective insight I ever had, and it did lead me away from atheism, but it does not have to lead you anywhere in particular. You do you, as the saying goes. I could go on forever about it but my purpose in writing this comment was to say how happy I am that you have experienced that. I hope it brings you the meaning in life that it has brought me. Feel free to reach out in what way you can and if I may be so bold as to recommend someone - Alan Watts helped me navigate those experiences the most.

10:42 have you ever heard of ”parts work”? I first experienced it via NLP and it shows we have different parts within ourselves. Like a board room with board members there who manage us. You can get in touch with these parts within ourselves and get valuable insights in how you work, what drives you, what believes lead you, ...

Parts work is marvelous. It's brilliant fun and my parts give me such precious information that I have, so far, no sense that I would 'need' to hear from 'god'. I learned how to communicate with my parts after escaping and I realised that some of the calming experiences I had during the process of separating came in moments when I was spontaneously in touch with my parts. Thanks for reminding me that I have enough already. Bless you.

Lloyd, I definitely want to see you happy! It's great to hear that you are feeling better and opening your consciousness to new things. I believe we are consciousness at play... Some people call it god-consciousness. The flower of Life is a cool concept... Where we started as a single cell that wanted to get to know itself so it replicated so it could look at itself... And it just kept replicating to experience more and understand more. That brings me peace.

Hi LLoyd, I feel for you, I struggle with these same things too. Just be carefull though please, I have had MANY direct mind to mind telepathic conversations with pot plants & other inanimate objects while on certain substances. these conversations are more direct thought to thought or direct consious transfer as opposed to words & are profoundly meaningful in feeling. If it was God I was talking to & not pot plants I would definately invest alot of myself into the experience, but I know it can happen with anything. Im not trying to break anything here, just relaying my experience as youve shared yours with us. I love your work, I am one of the many born in oppressed pimos. Cheers Travis.
