Just stumbled on your chan. You seem like a pretty chill dude! .. I also recently moved to Alabama (after living on the west coast (WA) for many years) .. Landed in Piedmont, AL! -- though I do all my shopping/doctors in Gadsden .. Homes were SO cheap here -- was just over 30 grand and its nicer than a house I rented for 800 a month in WA! .. I actually spent some of my childhood in Indiana (many decades ago) .. Little town in northern Indiana, called North Webster. It was kind of boring but I still miss it -- Especially the Amish and Amish/Mennonite restaurants! (yum) , slow paced towns, corn fields in every direction.

I personally would look to sell the one in Indiana. I have been through the process of making the same decision in 2021. Sell, save, invest as best you can. Plus, I gather that your heart is more in Alabama. Just my thoughts.
Houses are not good investments,necessary to have one so you don’t waste money paying rent . you can look at houses over the long run and they are gaining about 4% compounding per year over the long term. you can get better than that now in cds and bonds. just look at the homes value and look at what it could bring in a rental income minus property taxes insurance and expenses.5% on the money from selling house is probably double but I would wait until rates come down to sell and housing market is better before trying to sell the house
I would go with Alabama because from growing up in Indiana, there is not much attractive to me. I have not paid attention to the real estate market in the United States for the past two years. I looked briefly at some websites, and it still appears prices are high and there is not much on the market.

Hey Andrew, I've been watching your videos because I am looking for a house in Alabama LA center to east... I applied for USDA loan and was just advised they are 6-9 months backlogged with funding. So now I'm looking for a rental. It is super hard to look for a place from California. I'm on 3 acres now and was on 100 acres before, so like you need some space. It sounded like your house in AL might be in the area I'm looking. So just throwing this out there... maybe I could rent your AL house while I look at the rentals or, depending, maybe rent until I buy??? I'm just throwing it out there.
