fun fact about the reset: every scan that has been done before an encounter is removed, with the only scan that remains being the one that has scanned the stalker

Weird story: I was playing on a map called like Agartha or something, and I was messing around and finally got out of spawn, I scanned the spawn room with the burst scan and I saw the entity but my game didn't glitch or crash or anything. He was just standing there. I thought it was G-Man because I downloaded a addon where he spawns randomly and you see him in like the corner of your eye, but after I watched another video about this mod, I realized what is actually was lol.

I believe there's a hidden event. In the files of the gamemode, you can find .ogg files such as > Seen_loop Sounds like Chase audio because it's loud and intense. >Augh 1-4 Growling noises. > Echo 1-4 Creepy noises with a kid's voice. So Mabye at one point, mabye a rare event or later on in a update, the Stalker is going to be aggressive and might hunt the player and you'll have to use the scanner to make him shoo away quickly.

I already have shadow figures and gnomes infesting my game, Adding a new entity feels Like a Breath of Fresh Squidward.

After the first contact the stalker becomes black and is more rare to find him the second time so yeah.

this gives me iron lung vibes not being able to see well and knowing that something is out there

I've figured out a couple things about the stalker. I found a long hallway with one dead end in Backrooms to test, because of course that's what map I picked. a) He doesn't lie in wait. Burst scan triggers his appearance. If I sit at one end of the hallway and continuously burst scan the dead end, about every 10th or 20th scan will trigger him and he will just appear at the dead end without having come past me and without me having moved. I have not been able to get him to appear by continuously holding regular scan. b) After I scan him the first time, I can't get him to do anything creepy, aside from getting him to make creepy noises. When I find him, I try burst scanning him again, I try hitting him with the regular scan, I try walking over to where he appears to be and scan, but nothing. He just disappears after a few moments. I have done this 5 or 6 times in a row without any further scary sequences, jumpscares, etc.

this mod toys with the feeling of dread and fear. making it far more horrifying. the scare factor isnt just some jumpscare on your screen followed by loud music. the fear is the true scare here

When I got this mod while playing I checked leaderboard and I had a friend next to me so that stopped me from not touching garrys mod for a month

when i first played this mod i felt like i was being watched makes sense now

love the fact that this isnt getting enough views actually, if one were to see the original video and download the mod, there is a chance they would not know about the stalker.

I like the horror of it BUT I wish I could just disable it so I could enjoy just scanning stuff

The spawned stalker seems to act different to one that appears naturally, I'm not quite sure its a Stalker by default.

LiDAR is a really interesting horror concept. It plays upon how you can't see until you use the light gun. Your visibility is reduced to slow dots that don't even update. I'm pretty sure there are lots of games that reduce your vision (flashlight, masks, etc) but I just can't really name many. LiDAR is just the most unique way of handling this concept. I remember watching my first video about this mod, and I thought it was just a showcase. Then I see a red coloured figure, which got my heart racing and I mean racing.

I actually did see the Stalker on Construct. I was exploring the underground room, scanning the place, when a red guy pops up and spooks me.

This adds a whole new creepiness to all the classic maps. What if the feeling of being watched on those maps came from the stalker, and this is just a way of revealing him

The one thing that surprised me about this upload was that I literally saw another gmod video about this gamemode about an hour ago

Btw, multiplayer peer to peer: friends only works. You can scan other players and they will appear as a red figure. To see them, during the reboot after scanning your friend/player (takes a few tries), press ctrl + c for sight. They should be able to do this as well.

oh its based of the old game called scanner sombre that is kind of a spooky game... i believe it uses the same sounds and even some visuals as the game did aswell

I was just trying out the mod for the first time, thinking it was just some harmless tech demo. I tried doing the burst scan over and over to see how dense I could get the dots until the console screen came up. I was confused, but I just waited because I thought I had just spawned too many and it needed to reset. When the game finally came back I instantly saw a sillouette against the dense grid of dots I had created and quit out right then and there. By far the most terrifying experience I've ever had in gmod, (granted, I have only just gotten the game maybe a month ago).

This could make for a really neat hide and seek mod, or maybe even something more like stop it slender. Having to wander around the map in search of something while another player hunts you, but you can only use the lidar to see.

Correction: YOu don't necessarily need a navmesh to see the silhouette. It can appear literally in any map. Encountering it is entirely random chance too. Second correction: The "hacked" mod author that has been creating the goatse jumpscare addons is in fact not hacked. There are full-blown rants about steam in the addons' lua files. IIRC, you want to avoid the glulib or, something like that. The author of it at least. Oh right, there's some little differences between before and after you find the silhouette following you. Before it, you can scan NPCs and ragdolls, and even other players if you're in multiplayer and they turn up as red dots. After you find the silhouette though, all those things only leave a shadow of where you scanner would have scanned them, and leaves the same staticy sorta sound the silhouette makes. The odd thing is, I doubt that "npc_stalker" is the actual thing following you, I believe you only spawned a half-life 2 stalker. Fun fact: The silhouette's appearance isn't exclusive to the big burst scans, there can be times where you can encounter it while casually filling out stuff with the regular scan. Again that happening is up to chance though, and given how much less you'll actually catch it without burst scan, yeah lol

What if it's the opposite...? You've being tracked by an unknown entity that's trying to capture you, suddenly everything turns black and you can't see until that entity start scanning around, leaving trails, marks that you and assuming it can see as well. Your objective is to try to survive, walking around without making too much noise and not get caught. The moment you get caught is the moment your existence has been denied.

Shadow Man : Shadow Man is a figure that will stand in multiple spots on the map waiting to be scanned. Stubborn Shadow: the stubborn shadow is when a shadow man is scanned but won't go away, after a few scans the shadow should go away. Glitch: glitch is when a shadow man is scanned but will not appear to the player. Red Man: Red Man Is the man in your game when you press tab, and when scanned will reset your progress, Red Man Can Appear At the beginning of your game but can also appear after 25 mins and scanned 100000 particles. Cross: will appear after you played for an hour and have scanned 300000 particles if scanned you can beat the game mode (This is Oatmeal Good’s) Comment I’m just spreading what they said. So there’s more than one.

I actually think that the fact the stalker just stands there meneacingly is creepier than if it was trying to kill you, and if it jumpscared you then it would just stop being cool alltogether and would be pretty dang cheap

A while back I downloaded a trollge snpc pack off of the workshop. It worked fine for a while, but the other night I loaded up gmod and whenever I started to move when the map loaded, some cat girl memes appeared on the screen. Nothing NSFW tho. I couldn't see the game, but I was able to pause and use the menus. I found the source and deleted it. So lesson learned, there is more to trollge than it seems lol. I'm pretty sure the pack was one I found from you as well, but it's definitely not your fault. Weird as hell though.

Accualy you don’t restart, you start back where you where but all your previous dots before that last scan are deleted.

I didn’t know it was a horror mod, I went into the underground area and scanned down a dark hallway and I got a great look at him, I jumped so damn high

there's also trollface playermodel mod, it had nsfw content in Jun 3 and apparently it seemed the creator did it and didn't get hacked stalking him shows his RU-vid channel which also has some disturbing stuff as well.

the first ever time it reset for me, i didn't even see the dude, but it still freaked me out and i swiftly closed gmod, and the second time, i was actually playing the gm_construct 13 beta horror map, and that map is already known to have random appearances of humanoids, and coincidentally, i wandered into the dark room and saw them. I first believed it was actually just part of the map, but it also reset, and it confused me.

i used this in GM_Construct and was exploring the building you spawn in front of. I was about to finish scanning the entire interior, when I got the jumpscare and I immediately quit the game and found myself here watching this video. I'm not doing that again lmao. My heart...💀

I do hope an option is added for a lethal monster

I wish there was a sandbox version of this mod so that you could spawn scp-096 or another chasing enemy and try to survive while having lidar vision

It may have been updated but addon navmeshes for already existing maps do work, I used gm_vault with a navmesh made by a different author. It’s a good map to try it in.

I don’t think the Stalker command actually works. Considering the fact that it moves, I think what you’re actually spawning in with that command is the Half-Life 2 Stalker. The silhouette even looks less refined than the one that’s actually part of the mod.

Noclipping into a wall causes your screen to do weird stuff.

Another interesting fact is that your everything besides forwards and back is swapped, including the world I believe, made navigating really hard-

You caught the silhouette I mentioned multiple times in this video, the strange thing is, I didnt see the stalker when my game reset, I only saw the silhouette.
