I do generally agree with the idea that in a lot of cases keyboard "mods" just come down to making an entirely new keyboard. In general my rules for that type of thing are that it uses the same category of switch (if it uses linear switches, the new version uses linears etcetera) and the case and keycaps have to be the same. the plate can be different, the specific switches can be different, and even the PCB can be different, as long as it has the same category of switch and looks the same as it did before, it's a mod. otherwise, it's just building a new keyboard

One time Sunglarses forced me to harvest the materials, mold, lube and assemble custom MX african americans all by hand. He then made me preform a one man show of RENT and threw the switches at me anytime I was off note or flubbed a line.

You're scaring the hell out of me with those tweezers on the battery. Highly recommend getting a spudger for stuff like that. Used to repair phones and they are a godsend for getting under batteries and prying them from the adhesive safely.
