Nico, I speak from long experience: boxer engines do not like being messed with, even by supposed Porsche experts. Yeah… they’ll get the motor to roar - until it screams in pain and breaks. And when they break, they break big. Then the sad folks would leave their tuner and show up at our facility. But what about those cars I saw at fill in the blank event?” customers would plead. “They don’t break.” Amazingly to me, they honestly thought the cars they saw the factory field for major races were the same as what they bought at their dealership, not realising that the competition engines were about as similar to their mills as a thoroughbred is to a Shetland pony, and cost five times more at least. In their literature, manufacturers often have bold print cautions regarding what NOT to do to your car. This isn’t “warranty shit,” as one guy had been told by his previous mechanic. It’s there because the engine will often break if those things are done.

You should do a drag race between the 812 and the GT3 when its back from repairs, that would be incredible and if you could do a track day with both of these and someone profesional behind the wheel like the Stig (Ben Collins) and compere the lap times it would be great content.

Not sure how much of an expert this guy is because you absolutely CAN measure at the flywheel! At the end of the power run you pull both paddles to put the car in neutral (or press the clutch on a manual). The dyno can then read what the actual losses are in the transmission by measuring the energy it takes to spin the transmission via the wheels with the car in neutral. You add that loss to the WBHP figure to get the true BHP at the flywheel.
