I just recently moved to Florida a few months ago, and I know exactly how you feel. But I've moved across state lines a few times, and one of the biggest lessons that I've learned is that you cannot run from yourself. If you don't have peace in your heart, it doesn't matter where you live. I think we are all deeply longing for a place where we can settle down and thrive, and sometimes finding that place make take a few "hits and misses" but you will find it eventually. Sometimes leaving a place to see if the grass is greener on the other side makes you appreciate your former home too

This is so true in 2020 I wanted to get up & move I talked to my mentor about it & he said it wasn't a good idea because I was coming into a big life transformation & I was feeling the urge to leave ( run from shit pretty much ) and now I'm so glad I didn't make that move cause the transformation was so hard & It would of been even harder if I had up & left etc ..

I moved from Alabama to H-Town when I was around the same age as you are. Days like this are normal, and sometimes all you need is a quick trip home to get you back on track. Some days you feel fulfilled and others empty but you just have to roll with the punches and the experience will be worth it. Hope you feel better soon!

I moved from Alabama to Houston years ago. It literally took me a good year, to say okays I'm stay here. Once I literally packed up everything and was in the car, pullin off. I stopped and turned around. That is not normal. I moved away from everyone. It will get better!

You'll make it chic. I waited until I was 30something with two kids to move from Louisiana to California. I had family in California and still had the days you're having now and I wanted so bad to get away from my hometown.. I left California almost two years ago and came to Houston and still feel out of place and disconnected. It's hard to make friends after a certain age. And things definitely don't go as planned all the time, but the resources to succeed are available and it sounds like you have great support. Keep thuggin it, you got this. They told us don't rush to grow up, now we know why lol.

I for one found Dallas and Texas on general pretty boring and depressing and the weather is terrible imo. It's not all that much cheaper either as many want to make you believe. Chicago is a way better city than Dallas

I’m on my 3rd new state in 10 years. I went from South Carolina to NY, now in California. Believe me it’s hard when you moving because you have to establish new relationships. This last move on hard on me considering I was diagnosed with cancer only after being here 4 months. Get out, find stuff on event bright, me and my dog have ball everyday, she motivates me to get outside. Don’t give up, this is apart of “adulting”. Let these moment of doubt make you better not bitter. God Bless!

Agreed. I've done multiple states myself as well and being in a new state alone is hard at first, especially that first year or 2 of not going back home for the holidays. It gets easier, she just needs to establish her own life and begin living it. She's just feeling FOMO about home. I did Chicago to AZ, AZ to NYC, & now i'm back in AZ and am planning to leave AZ for CO next.

I moved to Houston when I was 18. I am 33 year now and I doubt I will ever leave. Your feelings are valid and it's ok to go through them. My advice would be to let yourself go through your emotions. What helped me was that I found 2 wonderful women here I now call my sisters. I am close to them and their families. I am also a big foodie and Houston is very diverse, so I love to go exploring with them or by myself. I also talk to my parents about twice a day and I usually have a dog. Hope this helps a little bit! I wish you the best on your journey.

I’m from New Orleans and Htown is my second home. When my family moved back to New Orleans, I stayed in Houston. Whenever I got bored, I always took a trip back home for the weekend. I was going every weekend until I got used to being in Houston without them. Then I had friends visiting, so try to visit home more often. It’s ok to miss home. It’s natural but don’t lose sight of the reason you moved.

The month of January has been an emotional roller coaster for me too and to see the raw emotion of you going through the process of a major change is so relatable because I too am going through a major change in my life and I also feel alone but we have to remember that it will all be worth it in the long run. How we’re feeling now is only temporary and adjusting to something new takes time but we have to take control and make this life the way we want it. Don’t let the sadness consume you, stay in touch with your girls and family and visit them when need be, but make this new chapter of your life yours and how you want it to be. Love you girl!!! I understand this completely. I’ve been in a different state from my family for a little over 6 years now. When I want to see them, I have to drive home. They rarely ever come to me. Other relatives (outside of my immediate family) have never visited me but they do visit my city and ask me what should they do in the city as if I’m a tour guide. Just let them know early on that it’s important to you that y’all still see each other regularly. I hope you feel better🫶🏾

Awwe sis!! Welcome to Houston, i live in Katy. 😊You are currently battling depression. I experienced it the beginning of last year (2022) seemed like everything that could wrong, DID! I cried just about everyday and there were some days i didn’t can get out of bed. If it was not for my kids, and dog i would have never left my house. Not saying it’s easy, but you will overcome It. Please remember that your family and friends are always a call a way. Be sure to always make time for yourself and take breaks. It’s okay to have bad and unproductive days. Allow yourself to feel, don’t ignore and hide your feelings, try to hear and accept them. Listen to your emotions and what they are trying to tell you. Trust yourself, the journey you are on and that things get better. 💜

Fast forward, I moved to Houston a little over a year ago because my mom moved here and I didn’t want her to be alone. Being alone with yourself is beautiful, however, isolation is dangerous. I started understanding yrs ago, that change was good for the soul. Growing and elevating either in a familiar place or in an unfamiliar place can be very challenging bc we want instant results naturally, but everything is a process. We all get weary in life sometimes but only the strong survive. Strong is when u can proclaim your weaknesses in the midst of your battle(s) but u stand regardless. Life can be like a bad emotional break up. U are down some days, you even have meltdowns but its part of the battle and it's called being human! We all are on a search for Peace. God is so humerus. I am a truck driver.. recently I’ve been feeling unmotivated and lonely! I work out of Chicago.. the weather also didn’t help with this mood. I decided to to take a few days off and be a mess.. I realized I needed to sit for a second! I felt like I had no one to talk too.. honestly I didn’t want to go outside of myself to feel better! So I sat for a few days.. ate ice cream, tacos and burritos and drank wine.. I cried so hard! I also did some shopping and watch a bunch of movies and shows! Listening to you right now, I see you has my friend… I’m happy to hear I’m not alone. I did what your friend said in the letter as well! I called who I needed to to get some of that positive energy! Journal a bit! I moved 1000's miles away from my friends and family and honestly it took about a year before it felt like, it 'could' be my home. Give yourself time, go hang out with someone. Get outside a bit today even if it's only like 20 mins. Go to a cute coffee shop, take your laptop etc etc

Me and my husband relocated here to the Houston surrounding area in 2020 an we have so much peace here honestly. But I also have my moments/mental breakdowns of missing my mother. I lost my mother in 2020. It’s a blessing that you’re able to call your parents and even go back home to visit them. I know you’re missing them. But just look at the upside. I totally understand. I moved to a new state in September and almost wanted to go back. My Dad helped me move across the country and he stayed a few days. I burst out crying after he left. But glad I pushed thru. I’m actually making progress slowly with my goals. It’s tough but you got this. I like the idea to keep focused on why you decided to move. I definitely do that and it helps. But no shame in a visit home if needed either!❤❤

Girl you are not alone. I moved away from home three years ago and am now planning to move back because I miss my parents , family and friends. It was all good at first but the last year I have been super emotional and had to do some heart reflection and my heart told me we wanna move back. However i know that may not be the answer for everyone so just follow your heart sis. ❤

I moved to the DMV in 2016, and I feel I overstayed. I lived there for 5 years, pretty much struggled the whole 5 years. With everything. Jobs, Friends, Relationships, Money, School, Goals. When I finally moved back home it was because I literally had to or I would be homeless. My advice would be if you’re trying and giving your best efforts and nothing seems to be going right for you then don’t feel ashamed of going back home and regrouping. If you haven’t given it your best shot in the new city in different areas of your life then do that. Then keep track give yourself a timeline and see how things progress. Don’t worry you’ll always end up exactly where your supposed to be. Don’t be too hard on yourself. ❤❤

I moved from Atlanta to Houston in 2009 and almost 14 years later I still regret it. I've got two young kids out here now and I am no longer married to their mother. Ive always hated having to deal with not seeing my family very often. All of my ex wife family is out here and I don't have any family here. Every time we would go through something she could run to her family and I just had to deal with whatever was going on. And just over all I have never felt in my element in Texas. It's just not my home!

Well Atlanta is extremely expensive now! We moved from Texas, a city not far from Houston, to Atlanta 20yrs ago. No regrets, but it doesn't necessarily feel like home here either, and thats possibly because we never bought a home and really settled. I don't want to go back to Texas but nearly all of my family that moved here has gone back so its starting to feel slightly lonely. I'd still rather stay though. Come back to Atlanta. I'm sure you know that it has changed though.

We are on the same boat. I moved to Katy from Florida 2 years ago. I can relate 💯 %. Although i moved with kids and husband. I Letf my entire family, all special occasions spent without them, birthday celebrations are different. It is lonely. And Safety is an issue in Houston. A lot going on!!!! Awwww girl, my heart felt you when you started crying. I moved from NY to the south when I was in my early twenties and I was homesick like crazy. I went home every 6 weeks for the first 2-3 years. I missed my family so much! I understand but if you stick it out, you'll be ok. But you have to do what is best for you.

I suffer with seasonal depression (SAD) and MDD. Try getting you a work book about cognitive behavioral therapy. Try journaling your thoughts out. Keep expressing your feelings. Because keeping them inside can be dangerous mentally, physically and emotionally. I’m praying for you. It sound like you have been triggered by events in your life. Our body need a reset. We must rest and become one with nature. And re energize. Not sure if you have a therapist. It’s great to talk to a professional. You seem like you have a great support system. And that’s one of the skills to cope. ❤🙏🏾 I believe you can get through it. It’s ok not to be okay. Moving away from family and friends. Rest, pray, and regroup and then get back to business. You got this❤
