I've rethought plans to move to Montreal because I'm no longer sure I can get health services in English, due to the new health bill. I speak good French but it's hard enough navigating the health system in English

I want to move to Montreal too from the US. I need to continue working on my French. Luckily u already speak French. I’m hoping to go after I finish my degrees. It seems like it’s easier to get an apartment in Canada. In the US u need credit scores which is crap.

They check your credit in Montreal too. To be honest Quebec is the least friendly province in Canada. Go to BC or Ontario.

Hello! I wasn't born in France, I was born in Togo :) just lived in France for a while. And my tip would be to soak up the language especially through the media you consume!

@@benekag I actually have a Togolese french teacher at school ,and according to him , he was taught english in high school , but here in Nigeria we only know 'Je m'appelle' and 'bonjour' , anything else is a matter of personal effort ,and your spoken english is better than mine (English is my first language). I'd like to how exactly you learnt your english

@@OkatahiBELLO Yes, it's true! We do learn english in high school (I also took english classes every summer since I was 11 and I think that's what helped me the most with the basics). Then again, english is pretty much everywhere around me so I just soaked it up! I mostly listen to songs in english and I remember looking up the lyrics to feel more connected to the song lol. I also read in english, listen to podcasts.. and the most important thing that I did was to speak the language. It annoyed most people because they'd talk to me in french and I'd answer in frenglish lol.. but I couldn't help it. I kept going until I became bilingual (I guess?). If you want to learn french, maybe find at least one person who speaks the language and talk to them often!

Salut, désolé pour ton expérience stressante à l'arrivée, la crise de logement est de plus en plus intense. Je suis tombé sur ta chaîne en cherchant des vidéos sur Lomé, vu que j'y vais dans quelques mois faire une coopération internationale, et j'ai eu la surprise de voir que tu viens de débarquer à Montréal! J'ai grandi ici et j'ai fait mon bac à l'UdeM, ça me ferait trop plaisir de te montrer ma ville et d'en connaître plus sur la tienne. Je suis à la fin de mon parcours de maîtrise en environnement maintenant. Je t'envoie un pm sur insta pour plus détails si ça te dérange pas.
