Heey! My name is Ana and welcome to my first video on this channel!! :)
I've been living in Toronto for 5 years and in the beginning of this year my partner & myself had to decide to move due to the crazy unaffordability of the city. It's been definitely a challenging journey which I will be sharing here thru my videos, and if someone else here is going thru the same changes in life - i hope this will help you feel supported and know you are not alone!! We are in this crisis together! haha
This video is the first part of when we were apartment hunting in Montreal, planning the entire move logistically and packing. In future videos you will be taken with us thru UNpacking, furniture shopping and settling down as well, so stick around! ;)
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hi Ana! How did you find apt? Were you with realtor or just by yourself knocking on the landlords??
@anakhodus
@anakhodus 8 месяцев назад
hey! initially we were looking with a realtor that we contacted from a listing on realtor.ca, however later on we had a little plan change in terms of timing of our move and we had to go with the option of “leasing building” that could hold an apartment for us till March (we were looking in October lol). The current leasing building we found on google, made an appointment with building manager and signed the lease remotely.

Canada has 2 national languages, both are acceptable by many in Montreal. Do you agree?

@@maestroCanuck The official language of Montreal is French. As any large metropolitan city, English is widely used. Many in the downtown core/west end will be comfortable with English. However expecting someone to speak English is a faux-pas
@maestroCanuck

@@robus6071 I have a long history in Montreal and with Montreal. You have not told me anything I did not already know. If one can speak English but does not when being addressed in English, is that a faux pas as well? How about we agree that we should be polite in whatever official language. I certainly don't ever expect anyone in Montreal to speak to me in English, however, it happens a lot, a testimony to the ability of most people to rise above the petty issues of language.

@@maestroCanuck Canada is a bilingual federation where the language is a provincial matter . As such the only official language of Quebec us french
@maestroCanuck
@maestroCanuck 6 месяцев назад
@@act_sion Do you think I don't know this is a bilingual country? I know the only "official" language of Quebec is French, so what? The concept of an "official" language is purely political. It does NOT mean that no other language should be spoken, heard or seen in Quebec. English has been spoken in Quebec by its citizens for centuries. It is spoken today. Should it disappear in Quebec daily life?

Pourquoi quitter Toronto ? Montreal, c,est moche, tres provincial, raciste, peu ouvert sur le monde. De plus vous devrez parlerfrancais pour communiquer avec sa populatio (mis a part le ghetto McGill).L,enfer ! Bonne chance !
@roberthicks6161
@roberthicks6161 8 месяцев назад
Alas, the inevitable crank. You can safely ignore jeancharlande3858 and his novel approach of Quebec-bashing en français. This person sounds provincial and not terribly open to his francophone co-citizens much less the world. Montreal is a vibrant and fulfilling place to be, and if you arrive with an open mind and a willingness to adjust, you will be able to make the most of your new home. Bonne chance!
