I need to yap about the Snow White trailer 

Her bob hairstyle on the red carpet looks better than the Lord Farquad look they gave her to mimic the animated Snow White. Its not flattering.

They totally could have gone for a 30s makeup look for snow white and evil queen, since they are popular too. The thin eyebrows and vampy makeup for the evil queen and the porcelain doll look for snow white. The bob looks flat too, like in some finger waves or something, Rachel has the perfect doll-type face, they could have really done something...And the dress???? I could not believe Sandy Powel was the designer here. How can you go from that GORGEOUS cinderalla dress to this???

It's so sad that the original Snow White is being treated with such desdain and lack of care by the ones making this movie, while the two other golden age princesses, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella, got well made live action remakes, that expanded or explored their stories in different ways.

"Cinderella" 2015 elevated the 1950 film expertly. I only pray the remake of "Snow White" does the same--even though SW's costume feels too literal and the CGI feels heavy-handed.

The colors on the dress are way too saturated, and the design is overly simple. Even the animated dress was more dimensional.

I do not understand why the yellow skirt has to be computer generated to be extra flowy. Her hair needs volume somehow. But overall, it kinda look promising(fingers crossed)

Your reasonable level-headed takes on this film (and the other Disney remakes) are honestly so refreshing amongst the sea of hate merchants online. The recent online comments comparing Gal and Rachel’s beauty are just appalling and completely miss the point of the Snow White. The online discourse is something I won’t be looking forward to when it releases. Since Greta Gerwig is only one of the film’s writers that we know worked on the script as of now, I assume that’s why she hasn’t been highlighted in the marketing. We’ll see who gets final credit when the film comes out. Cruella had multiple writers credited, and it kinda showed in the final product, even though I enjoyed it fine.

It's the fact that Gaga was supposed to play The Evil Queen she even teased it while she was on final talks yet she ended up rejecting & from that moment this movie being doomed. Poor Rachel she was gonna have her IDOL co-starring with her & giving her a huge box office hit

This trailer looks too faithful, imho! I'm rewriting this remake. I wish they'd go the cottagecore core route with Snow White's costume. They could still reference the OG Snow's outfit, just more charming & homespun, maybe with a little embroidery on the hem? I'll get to the writing. I think Gal looks ridiculous and unthreatening in The Evil Queen getup. Regina looked fantastic in whatever the Evil Queen decided to wear that day! The Ouat costume designer was top notch.

The dwarves were actually paid 'extras', or 'SA's as they are now referred to. They took it in turns to have scans done of their heads, hands & feet. The pay each received for this was the usual FAA rate for one day. Despite being turned into principle main characters by CGI no additional payments were offered or made. If real dwarves were employed it would have cost the production considerably more. How do I know all this?...I am one of the dwarf characters! (some more money would be nice😉)

So far the movie looks promising but the music worries me a bit because the new songs are by the same team that composed "Speechless" for Aladdin. I just hope this time around the new songs don't clash as horribly with the classic repertoire like it happened with Aladdin. Also, I know we can't judge Gal's performance just yet but I loved that I'm not alone in thinking that Rachel Weisz would have probably been a much better choice. I would have loved Eva Green in the role as well.

I really hate snow whites skirt. Like the bottom half is giving prom dress to me. This isn’t an important critique and i’m sure I’ll probably get over it. But the costumes are just something i personally pay attention to in live action films

The test screenings for Snow White got positive reviews so I have hope that the movie will be good.

I love Cinderella (2015) the most. Even the trailer was beautifully done. Disney kept the story simple, nostalgic, and the CGI, cinematography, costumes, and soundtrack were all excellent. Seeing it in theaters was a great experience, and it was released when Disney wasn’t creating live actions so aggressively. Thats what made it very special

The dress is god awful. The color, the fabric… it’s atrocious! When the set photos were leaked, I was convinced they were fake because the dress looked worse than a dollar store costume.

I refuse to believe AI wasn't used to design the dwarves. I think they're just slightly better than the Pinocchio remake CGI for me and I'll still take anything over Honest John's creepy design from that and that's coming from someone who loves foxes. I'm surprised Heigh Ho wasn't used for the trailer but otherwise it was mostly what I expected

There does exist a fabulous treatment of Snow White: "Mirror, Mirror," 2013, starring Julia Roberts, Lily Collins, Armie Hammer, & seven talented and personable ACTUAL DWARVES. I found it recommended by a comment on one of these critical threads. The film is gorgeous, silly, whimsical, intelligent and thoroughly satisfying fantasy. Directed by Tarsem Singh Dandwar. Also the girl is strong enought, and the casting diverse enough to satisfy any Woke brigade, without damaging the main story line. Why is it so little known? Disney should have done it this way, But it's been done, and with better costumes, too.

I feel like these live action Disney remakes should've done something similar to Treasure Planet. That film did something different from Treasure Island because the team knew Disney already made an adaptation in 1950 and decided to do their own original spin on the tale. And that's something they should've done with these films. Make new spins on the fairytales. Like, say, Beauty and the Beast but set in present day France, Little Mermaid but in the 50s, Lion King but with humans, Aladdin but it's a heist film and with TWO genies, or Alice's son going to Wonderland. (LITERALLY ANYTHING!!!!)

Having the audacity to remove songs is wild. Also I don’t think Greta is that great of a writer if we are going off of Barbie, because that movie benefited from marketing and visuals. Rachel Zegler deserves better, to be honest. This whole Snow White thing is just another Little Mermaid situation. The main actress gets bashed on, Disney does nothing to defend or protect her, doesn’t even try to elevate her in the role and only fuel the hatred by giving her terrible costumes and making terrible choices and designs for the movie. And then when the movie is released, it’s not so bad but also not as good as it could have been if they had poured more soul into it, despite the lead actresse’s great performance. Both her and Halle Bailey deserve better. Original princess roles that will be entirely theirs and for which they will be truly supported and elevated, with phenomenal costumes and designs. And Disney and all the racists and misogynists can go to hell

I miss the days of sfx make up to create monsters that would look way more realistic, or to enhance human features like the 7 dwarves. The overuse of cgi in my opinion is a lazy cop out… cgi was only meant for things you can’t replicate in the real world. But now adays every little thing is cgi. No locations, no models, no sfx make up. It ruins any enjoyment

What happened to Martin Klebba, the actor with dwarfism who was in the cast list of this movie

Elegant yet simple Beethoven as background music - nice! Though details differ wildly, this composer had his own early-life challenges. Sadly, he never got to enjoy "happily ever after."😢

This isn't a fairy tale world. This is a fantasy-based alien world, where sunlight is overly saturated and very yellow. They might as well have made a computer animated movie. This looks so artificial and ridiculous.

I’d honestly rather have Kim karsashian as the evil queen lol. At least the villian she played in Maerican story was actually well preformed in my opinion, despite the ending being crap.

The dress in the context of the scene makes no sense. It looks like she’s going to a party or something but in the original that was the dress she wore to go pick flowers

i truly think the costume choices were based purely on merchadising expectations. sandy powell NEVER did something this tacky and cheap looking. her great ideas must have been all rejected by the executive producers, just to make cheaper dresses to sew more toys and costumes.

I hope you don't mind long comments because I just left a long one, sorry. I knew you'd have something to say about this and I've been looking forward to it ever since the teaser dropped. I pretty much agree with everything you said. I personally would've cast either Lana Parrilla or Katie McGrath as The Evil Queen, who have both proved they can play villainesses with Lana's BRILLIANT performance as Regina/The Evil Queen in Once Upon a Time (Where she also proved she can sing) and Katie's performance as Morgana Le Fey in Merlin. Gal Gadot may be undeniably GORGEOUS and looks amazing as The Evil Queen but her acting is awful and there's very little chance of her giving a decent, let alone good performance as The Evil Queen. It's gonna be a live-action Jafar situation, just with great costuming. The CGI on the dwarfs is atrocious! Why not just use effects in post-production or just use prosthetics. Also, Grumpy's actor is the only one who has been revealed, Martin Klebba, who does have dwarfism. But for some reason, they won't reveal who the rest of the dwarfs actors are. But apart from the dwarfs, the film looks stunning and while it doesn't look quite real, it does look magical and fantastical. It actually looks like a fantasy world that I would want to explore, the sets look charming, and the animals while obviously CGI look good and adorable. I honestly go back and forth between how I feel about Snow White's dress but I like the design of it, though I would've given the bottom of the bodice a V shape like the original, made the fabrics more expensive looking, and the color of the skirt less garish looking. But I overall do love Snow White's look and think Rachel looks gorgeous. In all honesty, Rachel is the best part of the movie. She's perfectly cast in the role and I do hope they update the character in a meaningful way that doesn't ruin the spirit of the character. She seems to be doing a great job so far and her voice sounds so gorgeous. I'm still concerned about the movie but I do overall like what I see so far, but I also did with the Mulan remake and look how that crap turned out. At the very least, it'll be stunning to look at but can't save it. I hope it'll be good but I do have my doubts, given the many times Disney has disappointed me in recent years. Great video as always. While I'm someone who is sick of the remakes (Even though I ADORE The Little Mermaid and Cinderella), I do love how you're fairer with remakes than most people. I love your open-mindedness, even if it does lead to you being disappointed.

Mulan also wasted Gong Li as a character that could've been interesting in a completely different movie, as another strike against it. As to Snow White, the dwarves DO look pretty badly animated, like this was a lower tier DTV Snow White instead of a multi million dollar Disney remake.

The original animated film wouldn’t have worked had the Queen not been such a great & compelling character. Casting the worst actress in Hollywood to play her, is a huge middle finger to the legacy of animated film and arguably its most important character. Rachel honestly looks and sounds great, costume aside. The dwarves just look like the elves from the cookie commercials. I hated how Peter Dinklage (the single Little Person in Hollywood successful enough to be cast in non-LP-specific roles) was the only one whose opinion was considered when the movie was cast. They could've at least attempted actual outreach.

I don’t have any concerns about Rachel Zeglers singing as she is a legit soprano. She’s a great actress, but unfortunately it’s clear the director doesn’t actually understand Snow White as a character. If you watched the leaked clip of Whistle While You Work, the little spoken intro comes off so condescending as she makes the dwarves do the cleaning. The whole point of that song is Snow White in hopes of taking shelter in the cottage decides to clean the house both as a kind gesture and as a form of payment for being allowed to stay. She then helps reform the dwarves messy untidy in a more gentle way by establishing boundaries. If they don’t wash up they don’t get the dinner she cooked for them. In essence it’s a more good natured way of saying “my services and work will be respected” despite her desperate situation. I truly blame the creative team and their narrow view of strength and femininity for the lackluster disappointment this movie will most likely be

Plot twist: The mirror is very aware that Gal Gadot is clearly the fairest of them all, but the mirror finds Rachael Zeigler so insufferable that he gaslights the evil queen into getting rid of her for good.

Something I noticed is that she is singing "Whistle while you work" with the dwarves. In the animated original she sings it alone with the animals helping her tidying up the cottage. This is a crucial difference because in the animated version she is doing that in order to surprise the dwarves so hopefully they let her stay. Then the dwarves arrive all worried because everything has been cleaned and organized, thinking a monster did it, that leads to the scene of the dwarves nearly killing Snow White in her sleep thinking she was a monster. By having her sing that song with the dwarves, it means all of that is very likely to be missing from this film

Okay... People need to understand something... In TRAILERS they _do not_ show any of the unfinished stuff. The _entire point_ of the trailer is to get the audience to want to buy the product. They would NOT show unfinished footage if it wasn't going to look like that in the final version.

I was shocked to learn on Wikipedia that Greta Gerwig was the writer, too, and scratching my head as to why Disney wasn't boasting about that. Flummoxed as to why they didn't hire little people for the dwarves, who, by the way, are never referred to as dwarves in the actual film, only the title. Every character in the original film calls them "little men".

To me the best Snow White was Lily Collins but the best Evil Queen aaaaaall the way IS and it's ALWAYS going to be Charlize Theron in Snow White and The Huntsman. She was absolutely amazing in that role, she really was carring that whole movie and people need to talk more about it.

As someone who ADORES the live actions that Disney has put out, I’m not watching this one in theaters simply due to the fact that they cut out six of the seven dwarfs’ actors who literally have Dwarfism and swapped them with six people without Dwarfism. So much for diversity and inclusion.

When disney made these they forgot the core of the characters. Cinderella 2015 did this wonderfully by displaying patience, kindness, pacifism, non violent resistance and kind heartedness and of course FAIRY TALE beautifully. It was a movie full of beauty and heart. What is the core of snow white? Not girlboss for sure

All the creatures looks cartoonish. It's actually the style that's been used here. But the actors characters looks real. Should add chi effects to the actors too so they don't look disjointed. Take a look at fmv or nfs most wanted & carbon. They combined cgi and actors so naturally. There's also Beowulf that has life like animation

I must be in a minority but, though I’d have preferred real actors to play the dwarves (I’m thinking Time Bandits), the more cartoonish look to the CGI is BETTER than to try a make incredibly lifelike humanoid forms. Because that is so hugely difficult. But also, because we associate the dwarves in Snow White with that overly caricatured look, and its suits the movie fine. Ppl these days are just spoiled when it comes to CGI.

As for what makes this trailer feel AI generated. I think it’s the lighting, I felt this especially in the shot of Snow White finding the cottage. It’s hard to explain but the lighting is always what tells me wether a pice of art is real or AI and yeah that shit just looked artificial.

According to Greta Gerwig herself, she was hired to "take a pass" at the pre-existing script, adding some jokes and possibly tweaking some plot points. But who knows how much of what she wrote will make it into the final film.
