My issue was with Disney and the way they marketed themselves as “look how progressive we are” and patted themselves on the back. If she was the best actress, then she was the best actress. Make it about her talent and how she brought the role to life.
The issue with the female characters is that the remakes try to write them as “strong” by using brute force and arrogance over intelligence. So many have no weaknesses, no flaws, nothing to overcome or learn so they don’t grow as a character. They come off as mean and condescending. It’s off putting. Mulan is a prime example of how they butchered the character. Cartoon Mulan was feeling out of place and insecure about herself. Relatable. She loved and respected her father and wanted to protect him. Relatable. She was even more out of place when she was training with the soldiers and failed epically at first causing her to lose hope. Relatable. She finally overcame her limitations with ingenuity and determination. Relatable AND a powerful message. She worked together with the men who had come to respect her and each utilized their strengths to save the day. It’s inspiring. Live action remakes don’t have the same soul.
Hermione was book smart but also competitive, rigid and literal. Belle was a dreamer. They are not the same character and casting the same actress was a mistake.
I understand that Disney didn’t want to outshine the characters but at the same time I totally agree with you. I think there could’ve been some improvements on the costumes. They could’ve at least given her more than one dress.
Ok, I'm confused... so you DON'T have a problem with a "not fully white snow white" when she's supposed to have "skin white as snow"... but balk at a partly white jasmine because she didn't represent ethnic enough... can you say hypocrite?
We all know she is a black woman they cared less. They just wanted her to literally wear the same dress for three days. If they wanted to they would have but they didn’t.

Und wieder einmal versteht Disney das deutsche Märchen nicht, denn die Zwerge wurden von Bergleuten inspiriert, die damals oft noch Kinder waren. Zuerst engagierten sie eine Schauspielerin, die eindeutig nicht passte, wie die Gebrüder Grimm schrieben: „Haut ist so weiß wie Schnee.“ Dies ist ein deutsches Volksmärchen, das von den Brüdern Grimm adaptiert wurde und die einzige Heldin ist, deren Hautfarbe genau angegeben wurde, und es gibt eine ganze Geschichte darüber, warum sie so hellhäutig ist. Gab es keine anderen Schauspielerinnen? Es handelt sich hierbei um ein Kulturgut Deutschlands und Disney betreibt eindeutig kulturelle Aneignung. Als nächstes möchte ich Sie daran erinnern, wie sehr Zegler das Original verachtet, dass dies das kulturelle Erbe der Deutschen ist. Wenn das Märchen so schlecht ist, warum erfinden Sie dann nicht etwas Eigenes? Kulturelle Aneignung. Schneewittchen ist ein freundliches und mutiges Mädchen, das bereit ist, jedem zu helfen. Warum findet Rachel das schlecht? Wer sagt, das Märchen sei schlecht, weil Schneewittchen nur auf die Hilfe des Prinzen warte, hat wahrscheinlich nicht das ganze Märchen gelesen. Es gibt viel zu besprechen. Es geht um Freundlichkeit, Hilfe und Liebe. Und wenn Sie sagen, dass Sie Ihren Töchtern das Originalmärchen nicht zeigen werden, weil das Mädchen dadurch auf die Hilfe von Männern warten muss, dann tut mir Ihre Tochter leid. Denn darum geht es im Märchen wiederum nicht. Und wenn nur ein Märchen, in dem ein Mann einer Frau half, die gesamte Bildung eines Mädchens verändern würde, was ist das dann für eine Bildung? Erziehen Sie Kinder durch Ihr eigenes Beispiel. Und sie haben auch den Hauptkonflikt verloren, weil die Königin deutlich schöner ist. Das ist kulturelle Aneignung, ich werde dafür kämpfen, dass sie in Deutschland verboten wird.
Actually, I really like how cozy and simple the clothing was for this movie. The fun stuff is that it was easy to me to buy clothes that looked like the movie and my fav princess because Ariel is a simple character, just Like Eric and other people on the island, that's why, I think, to much fabric could look to heavy on this type of movie.
Or…just don’t do any more of these. Cinderella should’ve been the last one. End with a successful adaptation. Let this one go. It’s going to hurt Disney more to release this than just ditch it.

Of course Disney would do the bare minimum to prevent a black disney princess to outshine the others. Or rather, go below and beyond by colouring the movie with muddy, murky, dull colours. And the worst dresses for a big movie studio.

I was laughing out loud when he complained that Jasmine is too white wash and should have been more Middle eastern but said different to Ariel and Snow (so hypocrite). It doesn't matter if the color white skin is outdated or not, it was the description of Snow White's fairy tale character. Plus Malefient is an adaptation and not a live action so it doesn't really had to be identical to Aurora on the original movie. you have you seen the Sleeping Beauty? Aurora doesn't even have a much lines and screen time so i don't think that less than 5 minutes screen time could describe everything about her
They made it that way so it’s be easier to make it into dolls clothes and kids costumes, the same as bella’s and snow white’s live action crap costumes, and Jasmine costume-y outfits.
If they kept true to the ethnicity of the story- The Little Mermaid was originally a Danish fairy tale - then they could have played with the fancy European fashion of the Renaissance or even the Georgian era. Then the more lavish gowns and costumes would come into play. But they decided to appropriate a European story and made her black (Dont get me wrong she is pretty and talented, But they could have given her more respect by finding a suitable story from her lineage, or maybe just making a different mermaid story) Making her black, meant they had to find a setting where her skin tone would make more sense in the historical context. so the Jamaican setting makes sense. The costumes are actually a perfect fit for the setting. The striking red hair would clash with her skin tone, so a more muted shade was appropriate. I just wish that once the decision was made, the creative team should have committed to their vision, and cast all Jamaican actors, to make the story more cohesive. But they went full DEI and got mish-mash actors,. Prince Eric is now adopted and promiscuous King Triton is the father of the mermaid United Nations. It just degraded his character as a father.
This whole thing is repulsive. It isn’t being made for the right reasons. So it will undoubtedly suck rotting ass. I love the original. I will never watch this dog shit.
Your version is much more vivid, colorful, expressive, and dreamy. It breathes life into the shots. Cinderella (2015) had excellent cinematography, magical-looking CGI, and the colors looked so radiant and tasteful. Seeing it on the big screen was a magical experience. So much vivid, stunning shots were in that version
Why couldn't they have just CGIed the original 1937 animated version of the 7 dwarfs because that would've brought some familiarity and likability to those characters?
I love Cinderella (2015) the most. Even the trailer was beautifully done. Disney kept the story simple, nostalgic, and the CGI, cinematography, costumes, and soundtrack were all excellent. Seeing it in theaters was a great experience, and it was released when Disney wasn’t creating live actions so aggressively. Thats what made it very special
I saw Beauty and the Beast play in Melbourne in the 90's. Belle and the Beast were ok but everyone cheered for Gaston-it was Hugh Jackman, before he was Holywood famous.
Great Video. I agree with you 100%. Also, Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the rings,in regards to cgi and artistry, were beyond their times in regards to cgi... I don't know if the creator who designed Davy Jones passed away, but for some reason, they have decided never to make movies that amazing again
There's no excuse for the lack of glam in this movie! You hit the nail on the head in this video, costumes, hair and makeup were just awful. I've seen better costumes on Tik Tok by fashion designers at a fraction of the price. Definitely should of had wigs too. That scarf made her look like a slave smh, should of been a headband, like you said she's a magical creature not a regular everyday human. The bad makeup just pisses me off...... Vanessa looked better!!!!

To me the best Snow White was Lily Collins but the best Evil Queen aaaaaall the way IS and it's ALWAYS going to be Charlize Theron in Snow White and The Huntsman. She was absolutely amazing in that role, she really was carring that whole movie and people need to talk more about it.
