Guy's a very accomplished musician and song writer with a phenomenal voice. I promise you'll be blown away with his vocal range his control and runs. His style may be familiar, but he just does it better than anyone else. My Opinion. Like John Farnham, his live performances are faultless. So many songs to choose from Guy's repertoire. Battle Scars was one of his biggest. It was released in the US as Lupe Fiasco featuring Guy but in Australia it's the other way around. The best version of this is his home studio acoustic version. Then there are his more recent songs, Standing With You, Choir, Believer, etc. Guy, like John Farnham, is better live. Love your reactions, especially to our Aussie artists.
I just watched a reaction video on Battlescars after watching a show about Guy. He was sharing his story about when he wrote Battlescars. And how he felt when Lupe immediately said he’d feature on his song. His talent is off the chart

Guy Sebastian is Australian and won our first Australian idol back in 2003 and is currently a judge on the voice in Australia. Love his rich voice he’s got heaps of good songs out
I was at a Christmas carols in Adelaide South Australia many years ago and this amazing young man did a solo. I was blown away. A year later I saw him on tv becoming the first Australian idol. Guy Sebastian was born to sing but he has a true gift in combining that with songwriting ability. He writes hit after hit, even if they are mainly for the local market. He deserves to be internationally known.
This song he wrote after his Manager stole over 1 million dollars from him and pretty much said he would get away with it. Guy put him on the ropes and won! Guy is a lovely guy and his wife and kids are also beautiful. He spends a lot of time in my home town and is just one of the locals now.
Thanks so much Matt. I chose this as an intro because it's just really stripped back and you can hear his vocals raw. There's some nice choral layering on the official release too tho. I've put another of his songs on Patreon. "Let Me Drink" is one of my fave Guy songs and the video is just super fun to watch. I love his voice and when he gets it right it's awesome, although l admit to not loving "Choir" as much as others. But his rich tone l could hear all day. Love and Vegemite 🙂
@@mssuziquzi yeah l love that performance too. I've just heard it so many times on other reaction channels now, l wanted to show some of his more recent songs that are also great. " Let me Drink" "Set in Stone" "Get Along" , all great songs that l don't think get enough attention.

@@justlinsu yeah he has a great lower register. 'Bloodstone' is a great song as well. It often seems to me that Guy's best songs are the ones that get least recognition, but l guess that's just commercial music for ya.
First saw him as a coach on The Voice Australia a couple of years ago. He`s a really good singer himself, too. Another of the great artists in Australia.
Love the way you talk about his voice and your interpretation of it, he's so committed. But I sweat he does this style so much better than so many other artists. Gotta admit.

Guy is Avery passionate singer and performer. That’s why it’s always better to listen to him live. His sing Believer that he performed live on The Voice Australia is fantastic.
I'm assuming someone has mentioned below that he was the winner of the first 'Australian Idol'? He's done very well for himself and I've really come to enjoy him as an artist.
I'd recommend "standing with you" which is about depression/suicide. One of the more unusual songs he did was "candle". Which had some vocal distortion and stuff. You're right about his commitment to the song and the moment. His wheelhouse is definitely the emotional stuff or tapping into that.

Guy was our first Australian idol winner in 2001 now he is a coach on the voice Australia and has done some mind blowing performances on that show which are available on RU-vid, "standing with you" and "believer" worth viewing to see thus gifted performer
Guy is one of Australia’s premier singer songwriters been around since the early 2000’s up there in my opinion with John Farnham. Can’t go past his beautiful song Standing with you or the acoustic version of Battlescars.
Matt, as you’re already a fan of John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes, I have two short RU-vid recommendations for you and your readers here. There’s a link with Guy Sebastian in the second one. The first video is just 2:54, a commercial by Uber Eats called “On Set with Jimmy Barnes, John Farnham & Anh Do | Tonight, I’ll Be Eating… | Uber Eats”. The comedic concept is that the three guys have formed a new band “Barnesy, Farnesy and Anh’sy”. Anh Do is a very popular comedian and gifted artist who arrived in Aust. as a Vietnamese child refugee by boat. His series “Anh’s Brush With Fame” is excellent and he interviews well-known guests while he’s painting their portrait. He’s a great communicator and he doesn’t use a paintbrush, just a palette knife. His episode with Guy Sebastian is 27:46 in length and reveals a lot more about Guy’s character as well as Anh’s. The resulting portrait is a revelation. I enjoyed all of them but I thought that as you’ve now discovered a side of Australian entertainment that you didn’t know about before, you may like to widen it into another area. My last recommendation is for you to hear just one more female singer/songwriter, Wendy Matthews, an Australian- Canadian who was very well-known here in the 1980s and 1990s. Her cover of “The Day You Went Away” is world-class. I think that you’ll appreciate her talent, especially the stripped back live version of the song with just Wendy and a pianist live at “The Basement” a jazz venue in Sydney. Also, her official music video of it (4:44) is beautiful and tells the story in more detail. She’s a worthy addition to your growing stable of favourite Australians in the music industry.

I think you would really like his Album titled Memphis. He records the album in studio with some of the greats of blues. This song does not reflect his voice.
Guy was a voice coach until he won Idol. I voted for him. This year on the X Factor Guy is a judge and listened to his little brother sing. I don’t know if he got through because I don’t watch it. Guy is a big musical talent because he writes music and lyrics and he is a great musician. He will never be John Farnham.
