We met up in July at an adoption event with another family. You were nothing but helpful, kind and accommodating for this. You continue to support our ham-fam even though Gerald is now 7months old. You're heart is so in each hamster and a little piece goes out to each family

I can't BELIEVE this! Anyone who has ever seen her videos or Instagram or anything, including her store and can't tell how much she cares about the hammies and how high level the care is has a problem.

I searched forever and couldn't find any US breeders before Happy Hamstery. I lost my hammie to a heart defect and am so happy you are doing what you are ❤❤❤

I never saw the post but I admire how you are handling this situation. I have been at one of your adoption events, saw your hamstery, currently have one of your pups and would adopt from you again - and while you truly are the nicest person on the planet, that’s definitely not the only thing you have going for you, ha! So much love to you, Tabitha.

I was planning to get a hamster in August- and I remember getting the email that there wasnt enough pups. So because of that, I had adopted Vanilla Bean. I feel as though the person took it too far, everyone makes mistakes!

It makes me sad you were even put in the situation of having to create this video, but the mature, respectful way you handled this, speaks volumes of your character and your commitment to the hamster community! Preparing to adopt, and adopting from you in June was such an amazing experience! You went out of your way to adjust your schedule for me to bring one of your hams home and I know you do that for many adopters! I will continue to drive 12 hours (one way) to adopt from Happy Hamstery!

Greetings from Sweden! I must say I LOVED this video, I’m a new hamster owner and I didn’t know the importance of ethical breeding and just looked up care recommendations. I got my hamster from a pet store, which is the last time I’ll do, just had to put it out there. But I learn so much from you and u try to evolve as well so I can give my little hamster the best life possible. Just in this video you talk about boot camp and the importance to check in on your new hamster and see that it’s not to stressed by the move and everything makes so much sense to me! I never comment on peoples videos or content, but just wanted to say I love watching your videos and learning from you🥰

Hi Tabitha. I was at the adoption event in Virginia and I have to say that the person who posted that is lying and that is not at all what you said. It's so sad that people would twist your words when I know that you truly care about your hammies. Delays happen, especially with the August adoption date. Henry and I are absolutely in love with Remy and we can't wait to spend a long fruitful life with her. ❤

Tabitha. I was there on Sunday in Va with my daughter Sydney. You were Super informative, kind and so helpful. I’m not sure what the person was hearing but clearly she was making stuff up. I’m so sorry that she bashed you. The delay was not a big deal. Things happen out of our control. Sydney is in Love with her new hamster, Quinn. So please put all of this behind you and keep doing what you’re doing 😊

We just lost our 2nd little guy, and once we're ready to bring another sweet baby in, we're 100% going to get on your adoption list via your Minnesota visit drop off!!!! Also, Poppy Bee's little ones melt my heart!!! You're so lucky you have one!!! They are so far from us, and we have no experience with Syrians??? But their faces❤ and floof butts! I can't! So cute!! My hamster dreams....a gray teeny tiny from Happy Hamstery, and another floof ball sweetie from Poppy Bees❤️❤️❤️❤️ a girl can dream❤🥰

This is so silly! I seriously can't believe people are hating on your posts. I WISH I had an ethical breeder near me that cares as much as you do about your hammies. I love your videos! Its obvious that you've done research and that you take care to do right by the animals in your care.

I thought this was really informative and I totally agree with lots of the commenters that you're very sweet! I think you came across as slightly defensive in the beginning, but I'm glad you made this video. I'm even more happy that I follow you now than before! If you'd like to make it, I'd love a whole video explaining the costs per hamster of being an ethical breeder. How much would an ethically bred hamster cost if you wanted to break even? How much does it cost if you counted all the expenses and if you got paid a modest hourly wage?

The boot camp bin makes so much sense- I have used this exact method and call it a bonding bin. I rescue hamsters and if I hadn’t have done this with some of them they would just hide and I wouldn’t be able to monitor them, potentially see any problems or bond with them very well. It’s essential they get to a point where they are not terrified of us so we can better do health checks, monitoring their weight, body condition, or trimming nails in the case of dwarf hamsters specifically. Some of these people have such a close minded approach to hamster care, and if you don’t immediately have your hamster in a huge enclosure with heaps of deep bedding straight away they will say it’s unethical and you’re abusing your hamster. It’s really not as simple as that, and they ostracise so many new owners for not being able to have a perfect set up straight away. Ethical care doesn’t look the same for everyone. Kindness is everything and until some of these people learn that they are just going to continue building a list of people who dislike them and build this horrid reputation for themselves.

Hi. I am Sydney. I picked up my baby girl on Sunday. You definitely said all that stuff at the meeting outside. I have no clue where that miss understanding started as I thought you were very clear about the boot camp. My baby girl Quin has been going through bootcamp and over the few days I’ve seen her become more confident because she can’t make a giant burrow yet and I can find her to check in on her. I hate that this other person who just got their hamster has been bashing on you.

Hi I just wanted to tell you i love your videos and I myself am I new hamster owner I don’t even have my hamster yet I’m getting it tomorrow but am trying to prepare as much as I can and legit I already know how much of a good hamster mom you are I don’t think you should address bad reviews that you know are wrong because very often you can never please everyone there will be someone who no matter what you do they will not be happy we all see your videos and we all know how hard you work and we know what kind of person you are so in my opinion as your business grows so will your negative reviews for the dumbest reasons maybe your price was too high or they won’t like that they have to take a test or they wanted a hamster that isn’t realistic (idk I’m just making up things at this point).

Honey, I used to own a rat rescue. Not the same as breeding, of course, but I understand how things can happen. Some people are just plain entitled. And THAT person sounds (sorry, not sorry), like a damn brat. You were meeting THEM. It's not like they traveled across the country for it. Stuff happens and waiting an extra few weeks isn't a big deal. It's a pet. A commitment. Not a purse. Any serious, good quality pet owner would understand that the timeline isn't the most important part. An ETHICALLY bred, well-loved pet is the point. You communicated the schedule and updated it when you realized there was traffic. The pedigree is perfectly fine being emailed. You may have made some mistakes, but the point is that you immediately addressed them and offered an apology and a solution. And the lies are obviously a way to get attention. * groan * So sad and immature. 100% absolutely have an adoption packet! I've done them and they're INVALUABLE. Put your care tips. Put your contact info on a card. Put the pedigree. Everything is in one place, so you have it all AND they have a reference in the future.

I love that you didn't mention any groups and yet there's a group talking about this video MAD AS HECK because they think it's about them, and still continuing to bash you and claim you're not ethical. I'm not surprised, I've watched these people have bizarre takes for a while now. Everyone in my group chat is making fun of them right now, lol.

Funny thing the mod Alice also runs Chubby Cheeks and constantly saying that there are no ethical breeders in NA while the folks that get from these "non" ethical breeders are more likely to buy from her shop...

This group of people are notorious for starting drama and bashing others in their groups, fearmongering people into buying her seed mix. She’s also under the age of 18 so how anyone can trust a word a literal child is saying is beyond me. I’m all for people have differing opinions and healthy debate, but these people specifically are horrible and have a reputation for being cliquey and nasty. Such a shame and I hope this all comes to light soon and more people realise

So I read the post and a bit of a comments. To me the poster was merely giving her experience about using this business. She didn’t make any allegations nor did she bash this person. The comments were a different story. This business is promoting a “Boot Camp” for hamsters with absolutely no accreditation, schooling or even backing from a veterinarian. Which in turn is unethical. The self-victimization for social media content from this business is truly apparent.
@Chloe-jt4yb
@Chloe-jt4yb 7 месяцев назад
where's your accreditation, schooling, backing from a veterinarian saying it's terribly unethical to have a small bin with less bedding for a few weeks? you guys are extreme, i read the comments and your extreme takes on hamster care only hurt the community. my group with 1000 members has been discussing it, and we all advocate for ethical care too, and yet all of us feel the comments are ridiculous.

She called it a boot camp tank....however this isn't a new concept. A decompression tank is what I've always thought of it as and it's been a thing for while long before Happy Hamstery was established. When I read that post, I knew that person misunderstood the intention of that tank right off the bat took things a bit out of proportion from there. Moreover, it's just a recommendation to ensure wellness for basic things with the new intake animal is good. Eating, drinking, pooping, peeing, seems alert, normal behaviors, etc. It's easier to spot all that in a smaller cage before transitioning to the full cage. The pet owner gauges if they need to provide this or not.
@Kasamigirl1
@Kasamigirl1 7 месяцев назад
She is not being unethical. I have my hammy in her enclosure with 100% of enrichment. I have a harder time taming her. The hamsters we have are still young so training them is no different than any other animal.
