When you go on a trip, many problems immediately arise; you need to buy this and that. It’s especially annoying when you have to spend money on a bag, so you need to take care of this in advance.
You don’t have to buy it; you can sew a travel bag with your own hands. For a woman, a bag is of great importance; it should be small and roomy so that all the necessary things can fit there.
The material must be chosen to be durable in order to withstand loads. And where would we be without jeans - the most suitable fabric for a bag.
Master Class:
To work, you need to prepare a rectangle measuring 41x67 cm; it can be sewn from several strips, depending on the width of the trouser leg. There are also two circles with a diameter of 21 cm, which will be the sides.
1) To make the bag rigid, smooth the interlining onto all parts, but this is not necessary.
2) I cut off the pockets of the jeans and sewed them to the sides.
3) I also cut out the lining fabric and stitched it to the main parts. This method makes sewing much easier.
4) Next, I treated the short sides (41 cm) with strips of fabric. I stitched them on the wrong side and turned them right side out.
5) I tore off the label on the jeans and stitched it to the bag.
6) I sewed on the zipper, took out the pawl and unfastened the clasp.
7) On the canvas, on the processed sides, I marked 9 cm from each edge and drew parallel lines. I marked 4 cm at the top, this is so that there are handles here.
8) For the handles I used rigid tape, 108 cm long, 2 pieces. I attached them from the middle of the rectangle in different directions. I stitched the tape, not reaching the edges 4 cm.
9) Put the dog back. I sewed loops along the edges of the zipper. You can insert rings into them for a removable long handle.
10) I folded the circles in half and made marks for the top and bottom, and did the same on the main part.
11) Attached the circles with hooks and stitched. The edges were trimmed with strips of fabric.
Ready.
Despite the small size of the bag, a lot of things fit inside.
