Hey Jack. Next time someone tells you it's an authentic Amish Quilt, you'll know, because the Amish NEVER use the color red or any shade of red in any quilt.
@amymelissayano5138
@amymelissayano5138 Год назад
Yes this is very true indeed. My cousin 's husband is former Amish, and he's told me about their belief that red is sacred in symbol of girls becoming women, and for symbol of Jesus Christ's blood shed for our sins that is why it's forbidden to use red in their quilt making patterns by the girls and women. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧👩‍❤️‍👨🤰👶🇺🇸🇯🇵🌏🗻🗾

@GameChanger597
@GameChanger597 Год назад
Symbolically that makes no sense. If they see red as a symbol of the blood of Jesus Christ, then why would women not be permitted to choose that color in quilting when the blood of Jesus is what covers every sin because Jesus suffered on the cross to forgive us. It's as if they are preventing women from connecting with the forgiveness of sins through Jesus which is only something satan would do. Makes zero sense!
@amymelissayano5138
@amymelissayano5138 Год назад
@@GameChanger597 I totally agree with you, but in the Amish community the men are leaders, so women, and girls must listen to how the men translate the meanings of the the Bible, It's truly sad not the whole truth is shared with the Amish women and girls, and they're kept in the dark, and not allowed to decide for themselves what the truth translation of scripture meanings are from the Bible writings. But I do know this that all young Amish are suppose to decide by age 16-18 if they want to stay in Amish Christian lifestyle and community, or leave it for other christian or non-christian lifestyles. They are given this freedom of choice from their tight knit community during their teen years until considered an adult around age 16-18. Lol....it's kind of eery when you overhear people talking about you. Closest I came to that was at one of my daughter's softball games. I sat down, and the two ladies in front of me were totally trash-talking me. I was the team manager, and apparently they didn't care for the way I did the job. That's okay, but if they had real concerns, they should have just talked to me. I can't even describe their reaction when they realized I was right behind them and heard every word they said. I just smiled at them.

When Cabbage Patch dolls and Transformers came out that first winter, they were hard to get a hold of, and some parents were so desperate, they flew to London to get the last available there too! I think the most awesome deal I ever found years ago was Japanese(occupied Japan mark) porcelain cups and saucers. 4 of them each with different raised beautiful designs of dragons for only a $1 for cup and saucer!!! I quickly moved them for a considerable amount each to an antique dealer. The strangest part was I found the yardsale late in the morning and wondered why no one hadn't already snatched them up. They truly were beautiful.

I grew up, mainly in San Ramon as when I was 4 years old, my parents bought a house in a new development. If anyone is familiar with this area, the early to mid 80s was insane with respect to the amount of residential and commercial construction going on throughout San Ramon and the surrounding area. Sidenote: My father is / always has been a brilliant poker player. In 83, he won a beautiful Black stingray corvette in one of his private high stakes games. Each Sunday he would take me to the farmers field's that were loaded with pheasants and the new long, straight road that in a few years would be the main entrance to bishop ranch! We would race up and down that street and to this day, almost 40 years later, my mother still has no idea of just how fast my dad was going, lol! Ok, back on track, my family was the first house to actually be occupied in the court. My parents still live there today and we are the only family in the court who are the original owners. If not for my mother holding us back, quite a few family members would all be living in Idaho right now, but that is a whole other story. 10 years ago I bought a townhouse in Pleasanton. I /my own family have always had large breed dogs, so long walks are just part of our daily routine. I have NEVER lived anywhere or even heard about an area where people put so many awesome things on the curb with "for free" signs! I have found and brought home so many valuable things just walking through my neighborhood and in walking distance, surroundings neighborhoods! To name just a few examples, an 8 foot, fully lit Costco Christmas tree still in the box, a signed and numbered Casper the friendly ghost print, occupied Japan porcelain, a huge inventory of golf club head covers for a guy who apparently closed his store. I turned around and sold the whole lot on line for almost $700. Several hallmark ornaments (my mom has collected hallmark since the year I was born so she was happy about this particular find. And probably my favorite find came from a yard sale that the couple throwing it left everything out on their driveway and lawn overnight. So when walking my girl. Nala, I found 3 differnt lledro pieces! Well I found 2. Each listed for $20. Knowing their value, and that I was working a doubt the next day, I took them with me but I returned the next night and put a note with the $40 under their front porch mat to let them know what I had done the night before. I went back the last day of their sale, (Sunday, ) sn I introduced myself. The couple was so happy that I had been honest as they told me how a lot of items were being taken over night. There had been a beautiful Santa Claus lledro in the garage that she gave me for free as a result of my honesty! My mother also collects lledro so I gave the 3 pieces to her and looking up their values, the 3 pieces I got for $40 have a total value of $1500!

Yeah, I’m usually quiet while present at the yard sale. I don’t want to draw more attention, since I’m already wearing a camera on my chest.

Enjoyed this video. You got the vibe and attitude I appreciate. Informative, chill, and respectful. Maybe do a video to teach people how to do a successful garage/estate sale. (If you haven't already!) I did a huge garage sale just before I left the Bay Area 12 years ago. I swore I'd never do it again. And I won't bc I'm too old! But it would be great to see how a garage sale COULD be done from a professional dealer's perspective. Wishing you well in this crazy world.

I did a yard sale about twenty five years ago in California and made $6 total. People wanted to pay ten cents for everything. My husband got mad because I sold his vintage wall clock.

I love going to yard sales. My late fiancé was unable to walk very well when he got sick, so out of respect for him, we just didn't go to them anymore. My current boyfriend and I go to then all the time in southern NY state (I live in central PA) and I swear they have THE best sales! So many amazing items for under $5.00. Usually a quarter to $3.00. Now my bf is a master at haggling. We never pay what they're asking. Most of the time we're paying a 1/4 to 1/2 less that what's priced. I can't do it...when I ask, they rarely agree to it, but 9 times out of 10 they'll do it for him, lol. Anyway in the past month I've gotten three authentic Coach handbags. Two were a dollar each and one was three dollars. All in great condition and easily could be resold for around $50 a piece, or more. I never thought to resell things as I don't have much of my own. I had to move quickly and didn't have help doing so, so majority of our items were left behind. Though as much as I would like to have nice things, I'm more in need of money, so maybe reselling isn't a bad idea. This video has actually inspired me to start doing this. The extra cash could definitely help pay bills and for food. So thank you!!! ❤❤❤❤

Don't know if you saw it, but the home close to your house that you passed up on everything that was the moving day sale, and you said it was just too steeply priced for your liking, anyways there was a cute little child stone Buddha statue on the ground. It was from Japan 🗾. Usually here in Japan you'll find those child Buddha statues beside schools, or like bus stop areas. It's an Omen protection Buddha to protect your children so no harm comes to them. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧👩‍❤️‍👨🤰👶🇺🇸🇯🇵🌏🗻🗾

I did a sale and this woman was picking everything up asking the price and putting it down. She picked up a small box " £1". She put it down. I picked it up and opened it. It had a gold chain in it. I just dangled it, and laughed!

Prices were kinda high on all the stuff, otherwise I would have bought those too. I know we have buyers for them, but I need to have a healthy markup to make it worth while.

I loved this video. I did not like that estate sale where you got the necklace. That was just wonky. And I think it was all because they didn't trust anybody. It would be so yucky to go through life like that. My grandmother and my Aunt, her daughter, would have garage sales together and they would each have their own money box but if one had to go into the house they would take it with them and wouldn't even leave it with the other. It just blew my mind. To me it was so very sad. I love ya and thanks for letting me tag along. I think you will do very well. ❤️😘💞💞💞🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🌞🌸🌷🌹🐈‍⬛✌️👶
