I'm sure it was a little more complicated than that they were trading in a negative equity vehicle and when they were choosing the vehicle they happened to choose this expensive truck thinking that they could use it for moving but the more went into the decision than just a U-Haul need

I used to work in car sales. Had a lady walk in. Stated she only makes $700 a month in disability. Asked her what her other income was. She said that's it. She wanted a fully loaded SUV with all the bells and whistles, low monthly payment, AND ZERO DOLLARS DOWN. Told her the bad news and thought to myself "Lady, you can barely afford to put food on the table." Can barely afford a decent bicycle. You'd be surprised how dumb people are when they can't do basic math.

Mitchell Nelson, Well said. He was clear on the whole story and owned his mistake. He had the humbleness to call in to a program that gets recorded, to ask for honest advice. I'm not pleased with the laughing from Dave and the other fella. Yes, sometimes individuals need a cold shower to realize their situation. This guy did NOT. He needed what he called in for.....Advice. We need to put down the Stones and commend the guy and provide help be it verbal or otherwise. Are we not sinners ourselves in this journey we call life. Let's learn from our mistakes, les we become fools laughing at others.

I moved recently $500. Down $500. When the movers arrive $500 upon delivery. So the movers show up And demand. $1200. More. I told them good luck. They walked. I called my cc company and Cancelled the contract. Went on u haul and rented a truck for $1700. The next day I loaded my stuff The moving company called me and said They were going back to my place to get My stuff. I just laughed.

When I was active duty military there was a young PFC who somehow got approved for a Ford Raptor, a ridiculous $75K truck. With his PFC paycheck, after his monthly payment, he'd have about $150 left. And that's before gas and insurance.

I remember the day you could by a base model pickup truck . I bought a Toyota base pickup for 7k in 1993 . Came with no AC ,radio or antenna . I bought a GMC Sierra 1500 ext cab base model for 14k new from dealer . It had amenities like manuel role up windows and using a key to unlock the door . It also bragged about a am and fm radio with clock . It appears manufacturers don't want to build a simple affordable vehicle anymore

When we moved we bought an old school bus, ripped the seats out, had a mechanic go over it, and built bunk beds in it. It became our moving van and then we sold it after the move for what we bought it for. So the move cost us the mechanic's bill and the diesel to run it.

The thing I like most about this is that not only does he give good advice to this guy, but he also admits to his own mistakes as a younger man so it kind of releaves alot of people's anxiety of themselves from thinking that you are the only one making a mistake. Everyone makes mistakes in life, it's what you do to not have that happen again and how you get yourself out of your current situation.

I bought a truck because we were moving into a new place and needed a vehicle to haul stuff. I wrote a check for $6,500 for an '07 Silverado. This was a year ago and it's been a great truck.

Bad decision but if his take home is 105 he can technically cover it and not be underwater. 8750 a month, figure 1150-1200 on the payment, leaves him with 7600 roughly. Double up on that payment for a year, sell it, and never do it again. I was 20 making a 900 payment, got out of it by doing similar making 4k a month. If you’re gonna make mistakes might as well make em young and learn.
