Here it is, finally! 😍 First of all I want to say that I mispronounced gesso the first time I said it, the actual pronounciation doesn’t make any sense to me 😂 I also forgot to mention why I use gesso, I prime all of the postcards with it so the gouache sticks to the surface better. These cards are not meant for painting so it’s hard to use without the primer. I really hope you enjoy watching this video and get inspired by it too! 🥰
I remember seeing your Pantone challenge paintings on Instagram 2 years ago and I was so inspired! I’m currently trying this challenge for 30 days as an introduction to gouache and it’s not easy! I’m all the more impressed you were able to fill all 100 of these cards with such beautiful paintings ❤
Your challenge inspired me to make my own challenge - to fill my sketchbook with cinema scenes. I was a little scared and also didn't know what to paint in my sketchbook (I am not an artist, I just paint something from time to time). As you said, the beauty of painting is that you can escape from the reality for a few hours and try to make something that you enjoy. Your work is awesome. And thank you. 💚💛🤎
How on earth can anybody pick a favorite painting, out of so many beautiful ones? I certainly cannot! You have been extraordinarily brave, daring to paint on these Pantone cards. I would have lost my nerve. You achieved so much and this video has been very inspiring to watch. Thank you for sharing your successful one-year art journey!
Omg your art is just beautiful! Frankly, I don't think even beautiful does it justice but it'll certainly do. Seeing your progress and improvement throughout this challenge really inspired me to maybe start painting without fear of mistakes, because it's simply just part of the process. Now, you asked for favourites which was very hard for me to narrow down, so these are some I would buy for my room, but i have many more faves! Pantone 5405 (3:25) Pantone 485 (10:33) Pantone 414 (11:56) Pantone 152 (14:52) Pantone cool grey 7 (15:50) Pantone 13-0645 (19:07) Thankyou if you read this 🐛🦠🐸
Congrats on completing the challenge! 2:38 they both look so good 💛 I love 3:17, 12:05, 13:14, 17:49 too. I also really like when the shiny postcard print peeks through in the paintings
yea this really helps with broadening your color choices, they always tell you to do "small painting exercise with whatever subject you want" and this is just perfect, your paintings really inspire me I might buy the set too and try 🤣 I really liked the koi fish! the original shiny background was really fitting, also bottle green and bright violet! those two really caught my eyes by the end, of course you can see the huge improvement just so soo inspiring so soo pretty 💞💞💞💚
These are absolutely Magnificent! I LOVE these! Especially the ones of the water and city skyline. Bless your heart and thank you so much for sharing. I am new to painting with Gouache and this is such a huge inspiration. Please keep posting I LOVE your art. 😊🙏🏼❤️
Well I watched and listened to the end. I have watched a few videos on these Pantone painting challenge and wasn’t all sure to do it or not. After watching your beautiful paintings and listening to your thoughts I think I will try it believing it will help to improve my art while trying to do it on a daily (or almost daily…3-5 days a week if my time allows). Thank-you for posting! 😊
It was really lovely to see how your skills have developed over this time. And yes to talking about Unsplash! I feel like a broken record sometimes and always mention it as well whenever I can but it's just so important to use images with consent or when you know that they're royalty free anyway. I always love your landscape paintings - for some reason I always associate your art with these gorgeous nature scenes so I would have to say that those are my faves from this bunch as well.
What a lovely collection! The ones that I loved best were the record player, the stormy sky with lightning, and the cactus flower Pantone near the end.
8:40 regarding not creating things that you're proud of--Scott Christian Sava said in a video, that part of growing as an artist is improving your good pieces ratio. Everybody starts out making stuff that they don't like, and only hitting on stuff they like every few pieces. As you grow as an artist and your skills become easier to implement, and your knowledge of composition and color and design becomes second nature, it's much easier to create pieces you're proud of.
Thank you so much for posting this wonderful challenge. Wow. It's funny, some of my favorites were some of your least favorites. I LOVE the stacks of books with the lime green. Well, I really loved all of them. Again, thank you. And yes, I know that you'd have to gesso all of the cards with a clear gesso. What a job, just in itself. Well done.
They're all outstanding and the challenge is so inspiring. I am not a painter but this is something I'd love to try, I've always loved art so this would be a great way to practice.
I've been wanting do this challenge for the longest, and seeing your accomplishment has inspired me. I wanted to ask, is there a video where you talk about how you primed the Pantone postcard? I've seen people just paint straight on the card and I'm wondering how the paint would sit since it's a glossy carb. Thank you so much in advance!
Absolutely love your paintings❤ Would you please consider doing fruit tutorials? And more building/windows ones too please. And food ones😮Loved these mini paintings😮❤
Brava! I admire your persistence! Your style did evolve through this project and I was very interested to hear your thoughts about the process. I think I'll buy the Pantone cards through your link to see what I can do next year. Thanks for the idea!
Wow Tina! I loved your paintings, I can see how painting everyday helps a lot. For some reason I stopped painting, you know, how things are going in this world makes me so sad! What kind of future are we leaving to our kids and grandkids!? Watching your video it really helped me to find my way back into my painting journal!❤ Thank you Tina! From the bottom of my heart! And yea please, make northern lights tute!!!
I'm so glad youtube tossed this one my way because I bought those postcards a while back as well and had only painted two(once with poscas which I wouldn't recommend, they're a little too thick and once with gouache). But seeing this inspired me to finally continue painting them c: I'm curious because you said you prepped these with gesso and I was wondering if you also sealed them in any way when you were finished? I haven't felt the need to use a primer so far, but I was wondering if you had any experience or tips regarding, sealing or not sealing them when you're finished and if you've noticed any wear over time with the finished pieces.
Amazing work, great job! I'm curious how you approached each card... Did you randomly pick a color and then look for a picture that had some of that color in it? Or did you find a photo that you wanted to paint, and then choose a color from the box?
I really loved to see your artstyle develope. The lovely sunsets and especially the one with the highway are my favourite. Thanks for sharing this awesome challenge. 🌿
I would really have liked to hear even more about what things you liked about these, or what you learned, because these are all beautiful. How impressive to have completed so many challenges! I love the northern lights one and the one with the lightning both so much!
I'm speechless. This is SO incredible and such a huge achievement! I can with all the confidence say that you're one of my favourite artists ever, you're such an inspiring, kind-hearted person ♥To be honest when you were posting all of these paintings on IG I didn't quite realize you're doing it every single day (well, social media trained us to just look at the content and not to think much about it because there is an infinite number of amazing art pieces to see and if you want to catch up with at least a smart chunk of them you gotta be fast) and this is so so impressive! I'm so happy you made this video, it allowed me to finally mindfully catch up with your paintings ♥For October I decided to join Peachtober challenge and even though I went full digital and black and white I still struggle big time which in my mind makes your daily painting challenge even more jawsome. You're incredible Tiina! ♥
5:57 I like that from a french point of you their is this beautiful painting of a wave, and it's written "petit four" underneath, which I believe stand for : small pastry, so random but I love it
There are so many beautiful paintings but my favorite must be the “Morning Mist“ one! 😍😍 And I'd love to see a painting tutorial for northern lights! I tried to paint them so many times but it never turns out in a way I like it. So yes, please dona tutorial for that!
oooo this is so soothing. love the koi fish as well. Please make these prints. I think it would even be fun to have the print include the pantone color identifier.
You did a wonderful job with all these colours, even the purple (with the clouds) and red ones (the cherries) are amazing, especially because you mention that you had a hard time with these colours. For me the most magical one is the one with the light on the dark water, but it is really hard to choose because most of them look fantastic 💛🧡❤️
I LOVE this challenge and every single painting you completed. Pantone colors are some of my favorite things to keep up with. This is something that I would like to try myself while listening to audio books. Thank you for the inspiration. My favorite paintings of your are definitely the ones with aerial views. The one of the two boats in the ocean… amazing. Great work!
You look back at old art and think about how you would change it, because that art gave you progress towards the skills you have now. And remember that what you see in your head, others don't see that; just what you've created. It's so easy to harshly judge yourself for what you've created because it doesn't match your mental image, or because your skills have improved. I look at each painting I do as both a zen way to chill, and a lesson. Practice makes progress.
Awesome, you have some real stunners in there, and ones you don't even think are that great. Your ability to soldier through and do all of them is very impressive. I think a lot of creative people struggle with sticking to things, don't we always hear people online saying how many projects they have on the go and set aside? Good job. 💖
Congratulations for completing the challenge! Beautiful results! My favourite paintings are the raindrops, the thunderlighning and the vase with the white flowers and the contrasting shadow. You have inspired me, to buy me a pantone postcard set too, and the finisher. But I wasn't brave enough to start the actual painting yet. 😅
Beautiful work! I was inspired to purchase the postcards myself, but I haven't even opened them yet, and I'm scared to try painting on them, lol. You have several I would be interested in hanging in my home as poster-sized art, if you decide to offer them.
I like to paint on coloured cardstock as well. I also love painting original imagination based pieces rather than just coping direct from a reference as well as doing studies directly from reference photos. Even if you have aphantasia you can also create unique references to copy from by photo bashing digitally. You can also use digital filters/painting to create a custom reference. This can be also ‘Frankensteining’ two photos such as to get the face from mine photo onto another. Or mixing three different fish photos into an ultimate ‘Frankenstein-fish’ reference! You do NOT need to ‘obey’ the reference either; move elements, omit things, resize, change colour etc. you can also use the lighting from one reference and paint the subject for another. It need not be limited by exact direct copy from unaltered photos! You can also do monochromatic and greyscale to focus on tonal learning. Etc. Micheals is a great place to pick up many varieties of coloured cardstock that can be cut into smaller sizes. ACEOs is also a great option! Wait for a good sale and stock up they don’t ‘go bad so invest when the sale is hot! Fun video thanks.
I appreciate the comment about Pinterest/Unsplash, people just don't give enough credit to the original inspirations. Your paintings are gorgeous, especially that cherry one! Feeling inspired to paint again
You definitely can see the improvent between your first 30 and the rest that you did afterwards! It seems like such a rewarding project and I'm glad that you're sharing all of them with us, even ones you weren't satisfied with. It definitely takes lots of courage to do that. And I also appreciate that you're against using pinterest 🌿🍀🍈 My favorites are the ones in these timestamps! 2:05 | 3:33 | 10:03 | 10:44 | 11:18 | 14:08 | 18:08 19:08 (the color that you hate a lot but I really like how you can still capitalize it with the chosen theme!) And I think the still-life fruits that you did are very very great and cool (like the cherries, strawberries, and the 2nd oranges too). I didn't include it in my personal list because fruit still-life aren't my favorite art subject but I really think what you did with them is super duper cool!! Keep up the wonderful work 💚
These are stunning! I'm speechless. What a lot of work! The amount of care and skill that went into them is so impressive. I liked all the ones that were your favourites, and also the ones you didn't like. LOL. And you presented the video so beautifully. New subscriber, here! 🐸
Very, very cool! If one sorts your work as handicraft, than one can see your self-criticism as „a way of progressing“. If one sorts your work as art, than one can see the difference in style as „phases in the arists life“ :D Bothe beautiful perspectives.
This is so inspiring! I immediately clicked to see if you had a link to the Pantone postcards because I impulsively bought a set of gouache but didn't know where to start! 💚🟢
