Cozy Cabin Van Build // EP 04.
In this episode I show you how I painted my van on the driveway using nothing but a bit of imagination and a 4” foam roller..
The result came out 100% better than I ever thought was possible painting by hand.
This cost under £200 & yet again completely transformed the look of the van!

Hey Brad I really appreciate you showing how to paint the van as I’ve been hating this stale white color on my van for the last 2 years lol. You made it look so simple. @@BradWithTheVan Did you just use thinners on last coat? Is it possible to paint one day sand the next and paint another coat? Just worried about drying times, Thanks man

@@jacklightburn6585 did three coats and used TH25 thinners after I realised I should have done it with the first coat. Much easier to apply as the paint is oil based and hard to apply without it. The thinner you apply coats the quicker it dries, really doesn’t take long to be touch dry 👍🏼

@@BradWithTheVan I have since done it, 2 coats of surplus MOD paint that ìs anti Fleur or something! It has dried like a ceramic coating almost, very hard finish and I get loads of comments from all sorts of people!!! You inspired me, thanks.....

Hi mate, great video, quick question how did you manage to avoid roller lines in your paint finish. I’ve roller painted a van before but there was lines all over it, got a newer van now but body on it is terrible so I’m going satin slate grey on this one. Any advice would be awesome. Cheers geez

Common question, but I found that thinning the paint and getting as much out of the roller as possible before dipping it back in the paint tray prevented the lines. Just keep adding layers til you’re happy! 🤘🏼

How's the finish hold up a few months on ? Looking to do similar but unsure on the uniformity (roller marks) and durability (scratches) ! Cracking result 👏

Still spot on and I've done over 1000 miles since too! It does scratch easily but I have enough paint to touch up in the summer again if need be! No visible roller marks if applied thin with a few coats! - Hope that helps!

Can confirm after nearly 2.5 years with no touch ups it’s still not flaking, bit of wear and tear from everyday use but to be expected!

Took me 2days to prep and 3/4 days to paint, this was spread out over two weeks as I was fighting the weather 🤣 So pick a decent week and youl have it done in no time! Good luck 😁

hi mate. just some basic questions i bought old van want to brighten it up a bit, but for health reasons want to make it as simple as possible really aint too fussed about the outcome. I'd really appreciate your help. 1. can i just do a simple sand using those sponge type sander or do i need electric sander 2. what grade of sandpaper 3. what type of paint 4. what type of roller?can i use a small one 5. how many coats. cheers!!

Hey man, check the description for everything I used including paint and rollers! You don’t need to actually sand the vehicle with this type of paint but I just keyed the whole surface anyway and 3 years on she’s still looking great! 1st coat looks terrible but but the end of the second it looked spot on. I did 3 in the end for all the larger panels 💀🤘🏼

Coming up to summer here in australia i might give it a go myself my van isn't as classy as yours and i got a quote for someone else to do it which was too pricey for me.

Hi Marc! Nope this paint is exactly what the old boys use to repaint their battered landrovers after sending it off road. Every step I did is exactly as is in the video. Wash surfaces thoroughly, lightly key the paint and then whack the paint on! Finish is still looking great after 3 years! 🫡

No need as its a satin finish. Wouldnt have used this paint if I wanted a gloss finish bud!

I bought two tins in the end to cover myself. Still have most of my second tin left! With the thinner a little goes along way! Blue Tape is from 3M
