Congrats on the big achievement. I was introduced to your channel when I was looking for motivation and tips to pass the SDWAN exam after failing it twice. @@jeremiahwolfe Wasn't pretty. Spent too much time on the first lab and that killed me. Didn't have enough time to finish the test. Could only spend about 4 mins on the second lab and ended up skipping the third. Very humbling experience. I attended a bootcamp that taught the official Cisco curriculum and that did not in any way prepare me for the labs on the exam. Kinda disappointed in that. Figured I'd see things in the troubleshooting sections covered in the course but it was well beyond that level. Now I'm doing CCIE labs to prepare for the next time I test. I'm on a very short timetable. Normally, I'd take 3-6 months to study and really know things. I attempted this one month after a crash course so I figured I'd fail. I took the test because I had a voucher and wanted to see what's on it. Lots of work still to do. Back to the grind. I think I would have done OK on the regular questions. The labs though were much harder than I anticipated. Got flustered by the labs and the terrible test interface. But now I know how deep I need to go to succeed.

New to the channel and congrats on getting that CCIE number. I got mine on June 30th as well (EI) lol. But I concur with the testimonies you made, fortunately my mouse was alright. It’s nice to get the perspective of someone who’s prepped and experienced what it was like. Hey man, CONGRATS!! And welcome to the club! 😃. I see that you're also a student of Narbik's! Nice! I just want to say that you are 1,000% SPOT ON! 😂. I had very similar experiences with the exam as you! The receptionist is great, she's real nice 😊. The proctor is cool too, but everything you said is 100% SPOT ON in verbatim! 😂. I thought I was the only one who noticed. It's funny to hear someone say the exact same thing that I was thinking. That impression is spot on as well LOL. Nah, but he's a cool guy though, he genuinely does help if you ask him. But you just can't get a read on that guy. No expression lol. About that MPLS question, I had the same experience! But if there's anything I learned from the journey to becoming a CCIE is knowing how to research and lab up a proof of concept to support your answer😉 I also got bit by a deployment failing on the vManage (darn typos lol), but luckily I learned in Terry Vinson's class to Export the variables to a CSV file, so I always do that when deploying configs. This is the BEST (and most useful) review of the CCIE exam that I've ever seen! This will help others for sure! Take care man and congrats again! Enjoy!
Congratulations, been watching this channel for awhile and happy to hear about the journey. Not sure what happened to a lot of the older videos. I was very focused in Cisco before my current job. We've switched to Juniper and I now have more of a firewall focus in my day to day actives. This has made me debate the relevancy of the time spent studying towards CCNP prior to this role. Most of the information from CCNP I feel like I've lost since I haven't used it for 2+ years since it is not relevant to my current role. I'm curious to hear the value of the CCIE and how this helps you career wise / monetarily.
Here's what I can say, the VAST majority of people who achieve their CCIE think it was worth it. The vast majority of people who hate on the CCIE couldn't pass, or never attempted the exam. So, one has to ask: Are the CCIE's simply justifying all the time, effort and money spent, or was it actually worth it? Are all the haters just hating, or do they actually have a point? Without a doubt, the days of people throwing money and opportunities at you just because you have your CCIE are long over. I got my CCIE because I have a 10 year (8 year when I started studying) gap in my resume from leaving IT. I didn't want to start over from entry level and I figured that the CCIE would help to narrow that gap in the eyes of employers. So far... it hasn't helped as much as I'd hoped. It's more complicated than that. Maybe I should make a video about it. Also to your other point/question... The CCIE Enterprise is probably 50% vendor neutral knowledge. I suspect that Service Provider track is similar or maybe even higher. I suspect that the other tracks are much lower, being much more Cisco specific. I would imagine that the CCIE security is probably the most proprietary track.

Congrats! The thing no-one mentions is that after passing the exam you suddenly have a whole lot of free time and might not know how to fill it. I felt a bit lost and it took a while to work out what to do with myself without labs to do every day. Don't feel bad if you just relax and recharge for a while, don't feel under pressure to fill the time 'usefully'. I didn't look at any books, documentation etc for a few months after and in hindsight I really needed that, the whole process burns you out without you noticing.
I had the same experience with my CCNA. The mouse and keyboard were awful, the first pc crashed before i even started the exam. Idk why personvue/cisco dont enforce a standard on their testing centers with the fees they charge. Like a good mouse isnt even expensive, its like 20 bucks. Gratz on passing ur ccie, im working on ccnp now and i will start ccie pretty much right away, hoping to pass it by 2027 at the latest.
Congratulations brother! I've been following you since the very beginning. Our study timelines have been almost identical (as well as our ages and prior experiences in the work force). I will be doing my second attempt in 3 weeks. This video gives me hope that I can do this on my second try. Please keep creating content. I've watched all of your videos, and will continue watching as long as you keep making them.
Good luck! I'm glad you were able to get a seat. It's been crazy lately. Even the receptionist in Richardson mentioned how crazy it has been recently with the number of CCIE test takers.
I got through the written, but never moved on. The #1 reason was the onerous requirements to keep it active. At the time, it was pass the written every two years. It took me months to prep for that written, and I wasn’t willing to hand over that much time over and over and over.
