Played through this with my roommate and we had a blast. It was then extra cool to see Scorch make an appearance in the Bad Batch show a year later, about time this game gets the recognition it deserves
Oh man, I remember playing this game on my OG XBOX as a tiny boy and this brings back so much nostalgia, I pretty much never got past the part where you got seperated from the rest of team because 1. I was to young to learn you could actually save your games 2. I always relied on my teammates to do the work for me 3. I had a nasty habit of chewing on cables back when I was a boy But this video really makes me want to properly finish it this time, and platinum it along the way. GREAT VIDEO BTW
Oh you can do it mate, I was the exact same back as a kid. I don't even remember Kashyyyk which makes me think I never finished the game back in the day either 😂
Man Star Wars games are usually such a blast! I have seen some clips of this here and there but never really knew what it was about. This looks super fun and definitely something that goes on my to play list! Fantastic video as always, keep up the great work
As a Nintendo knucklehead growing up, I definitely would've missed this one when it launched, but it looks super cool! Gonna have to add this to the list for sure
@@MayorHairBear yea it would! my nan was sliced in half in a railway disaster cause she was flung on the tracks by my little brother for not buying him v bucks
Old star wars games always have a special place in my heart and icl o forget how good they all are im happy youve covered this makes me wanna revisit the game
The books were great. Highly recommend. They predate TCW lore. TCW retconned a lot before the Disney reboot... Whole thing. Unrelated. Good books though!
I’ve had this on my backlog for awhile and with the battlefront classic collection out I really need to play it after! Also would you try to platinum Last of us Part 1 for ps5? It’s pretty easy and has a built in guide for all the collectibles, on top of just being an amazing game. You would probably like the uncharted trilogy as well if you haven’t played it already!
SW Republic Commando is in my top 10 best Star Wars games, i also have the platinum for the game, i remember being afraid to play it on hard mode but it wasn't bad at all. I still go back and play it every year if i remember it. Congratulations with the Platinum.
I was so confused I was like "wait didn't you just make this video like a week ago?" But then I remembered it was another RU-vidr I follow who made a video on this game and I got you 2 mixed up haha.
@@MayorHairBear Oh no it wasn't a platinum RU-vidr he does long form video essays, his channel is called The Salt Factory. Very different from what you do but I saw the gameplay and for a split second I felt I had seen it already, but it was just the same game with a very different style video.
This was one of those games kid me was obsessed over, despite me never playing it as i was on the ps2. Years later when the aspyr rerelease came out i finally got to play it. Was one of the more fun platinums i remember getting. And i personally found it pretty easy, but that might just be from me going into it straight after doom eternal on nightmare
Yeah I think going from Doom to this it'd feel like childs play 😂 But in general it's not too difficult anyway. Glad you finally got to experience this game though!
Favorite Star Wars game: Probably either Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic or Battlefront 2 2005 Favorite Star Wars game to go for achievements on: Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order (Haven’t played Jedi Survivor yet since I can’t play it on the Xbox One)
On computer, the main areas I especially struggle with on hard are, the 5 minute timer on the core ship, the canyon with all the geonosians on geonosis right before the core ship, and the begining of the Prosocuter when your by yourself; Any advice for those areas if I decide to platinum it on PS5?
So any areas you're struggling with your squad, just make sure to set them up in any cover or give them objectives and you should be good. In regards to time limits it's more so about learning through failure. Figuring out where enemies spawn, what enemies require what ammo to defeat them fastest, that type of thing and for the moments you're solo as much as you can take your time, peak around corners and just try and keep your distance as much as possible
@MayorHairBear Thanks for the Advice! I've been working on it and now I only have 6 trophies left to get! Those being the Platinum itself the one for clearing a geonosian nest, and the 4 I'll get for completing Kyshyyk on hard!
Awesome video man!! I covered this game a few months back and had a blast. This truly is an underrated Star Wars game. Glad to see the classics get some love.
Man this game is FIRE! I remember getting a job at 14 ish almost 15 in order to buy the ps3, and then this was annouced and I remember seeing it on the tv in a games (kinda) channel. My pp got so hard I decided to take a little bit os money from the ps3 pot to buy it. I still have the original pc version with me.❤
One of my favorite games as a kid I played it so much the disc stopped working on my ps2. This got me into games like ghost recon and brothers in arms so glad they re released it on ps4.
I sadly didn't play this as a kid(to busy with Lego star wars and star wars bounty hunter )but i did pick it up on the PlayStation store not too long and can't wait to see what I've missed
Congrats on your new trophy. I watched you when I had like 3 or 4 Platinum trophies in my collection. Glad you are keeping up the good fight and good luck for future games. Btw I am hunting trophy 61 right now
Republic Commando is like Star Wars Clone Wars 2003. It’s well liked Star Wars content it just hasn’t been played or watched by as many people compared to other Star Wars content like the original battlefront games and the movies.
@@MayorHairBear I watched through the whole show a couple years ago and it ended up being one of my favorite Star Wars shows. And I still have yet to play this game and Jedi Survivor as well as watch other Star Wars shows like Andor and Tales of the Jedi. The movies may be the most viewed media in Star Wars but I like the shows and video games the best.
One thing that Playstation has over xbox Backwards Compat is that all OG games now have achievements/trophy's. It is such a huge, missed opportunity that would bring so many more people to play these older games again or for the first time.
You know how I got into this game? It’s because of that Bad Batch show where they show Hunter’s pov shot from the episode where he got shot from Cad Bane. Plus I got the game and got the platinum.
I played this, and platinum’d it on 1/05/2021. I never actually managed to play this originally as I didn’t have an Xbox, but I always wanted to as heard it was one of the best SW games, so that was the first time I ever experienced it when I excitingly noticed it one day in the play store, and yes, it is bloody brilliant
I didn’t know about this game’s existence until my freshman year in college. I actually bought this game last year to play on my Xbox One but haven’t gotten to it. There are also no achievements for this game, so I can just worry about playing through the game.
I think you're equating positive reviews and public opinion with sales because there's a reason this never got a sequel. Everyone I know who played it loved the game, but not that many people actually played it for a Star Wars game
@@MayorHairBear I guess I don't agree with that assessment. RC is far from unknown, underrated, or niche. This is a beloved classic in the community that spawned a book and whose characters have continued to have roles in current SW storylines. I have yet to meet a Star Wars gamer who is my age (25) or older that hasn't played this title, just my experience.
Sorry to ruin the vibes but damn near everyone loved this game, it was marketed to hell and back during the early 2000s e3 showcases specifically Xbox presentations for some reason .
This in comparison to other Star Wars games is just forgotten and for a Star Wars game didn't sell great by all accounts. Everyone I know who played the game loved it, but I don't know that many people who actually played it and the sales figures back that up
