I play a bunch of insane PSP action games I've never heard of

How it didn't get a sequel is beyond me

@@thegamingprozone1941 because it was an obscure game on the PSP is probably why. What I don't get is why PSP games couldn't have been made to run on maybe PS3 but certainly PS4 and PS5 and give all those games a second life. I think some are on PS Plus Premium these days but that's not quite the same. But yeah, sequel would be nice. I don't see it ever happening but... eh... maaybe? :P

It’s definitely one of (if not the best) PSP games of all time! It feels like something that could’ve been released on the PS2 at the time, it definitely feels console worthy. It’s got amazing gameplay with the unique head swapping mechanic, fun puzzles and exploration, amazing visuals and art style for the PSP, funny dialogue and humor plus a great soundtrack! This game is amazing and deserves a sequel or remaster on modern consoles!

It’s unfortunate we live in a world where amazing games like; Dead Head Fred, Puppeteer and Conker’s Bad Fur Day doesn’t have sequels. It’s just one of the many injustices in this world. :(

@@carn9507Well Vinicius Cycle Software and D3 publisher did design the game and engine so that it could easily be ported over to other consoles if they wanted to, that was the original plan for the game. They originally envisioned Dead Head Fred as a franchise and wanted to port the game to various other platforms like the PS2, Xbox 360 and PC but when the game bombed I guess those plans fell threw. \_(•_•)_/

Yeah John C Mcginley did an absolutely perfect job as Fred, he suited the character very well. But all the cast in this game were perfect for their respective roles, Dead Head Fred just all around had good voice talent, but I didn’t know that John C Mcginley did ad libing/improvisation for the game. That’s cool, you learn something new everyday…

Yeah same I LOVED my PSP and I took it everywhere with me, I have a lot of love and respect for the PSP for giving us so many great games. It had so many fun titles like; LocoRoco, LocoRoco 2, Patapon, Patapon 2, Patapon 3, Death Jr., Death Jr. 2: Root Of Evil, Dead Head Fred, The 3rd Birthday, Daxter, Chili Con Carriage etc. The PSP had such a great library of high quality games.

It’s an amazing game, it’s got so much to do and explore it’s definitely one of the best PSP games of all time! The visuals, humor, style, setting, gameplay, story, voice acting, mechanics and humor are all amazing!

Hell yes! Dead Head Fred is an amazing game with so much content and side-quests, optional minigames, side content. It’s a truly amazing game that deserves a modern remake!

Yeah Dead Head Fred doesn’t get brought up much in discussions today, but it’s always a pleasant and welcomed surprise when it does. It’s truly a shame, Dead Head Fred is such an amazing game with so much care and attention put into it, it has charm and personality in nearly every crevice. The unique gameplay and head-swapping mechanic, the engaging story, funny dialogue, amazing visuals and art direction. It’s such a shame like you said for a game like this with so much personality, charm and character gets forgotten. This game deserves a remake!

dead Head Fred is a great game, though I do disagree that the mechanics and combat get repetitive. There’s plenty of things that keep the combat, traversal, exploration and puzzle solving interesting throughout. The unique heads all having their own unique abilities, combos, moves finishers plus having to constantly switch heads on the fly to counter certain enemies is very frantic and fun and keeps the combat interesting throughout the game.

Dead Head Fred is such an amazing game, if you’ve never played it you should it’s so funny, charming, creative and imaginative with some creative puzzles and fun combat. I hope to see him play more of this game!

Love the PSP. I love my Vita as well but I feel like half of why is that it runs PSP games. :P I feel like third party support for Vita was a bit more reluctant cos the PSP wasn't a huge success. Shame. I barely touched my DS cos I far preferred the Sony machines.

Yeah I love my PSP and while I haven’t played it in a loooong time I still have fond memories of it. I had so many fun, great games on my PSP from; Death Jr., Death Jr. 2: Root Of Evil, Dead Head Fred, Star Wars Battlefront, Star Wars Battlefront 2, LocoRoco, LocoRoco 2, Patapon, Patapon 2, Patapon 3, Daxter, The 3rd Birthday, Lego Indian Jones 2, Worms Open Warfare, Worms Open Warfare 2 and more. There were so many great games released on the PSP!

Yeah if there’s any game that should get it’s own dedicated video it’s Dead Head Fred. It’s such a great charming, funny, unique, creative game that deserves more love.

I have psp emulated on the asus ally rog runs great. Gta China town plays perfect at 60 frames much better than the terrible mobile port

there were plenty of things on PSP that weren't FFT or PS1 that were worth owning. Hell, I loved my PSP and couldn't bloody stand FFT and certainly didn't care for running PS1 games on it (except maybe Crash Team Racing). Loved having it's own God of War games on it for a start. Couldn't quite believe that PS2-looking games were running on a handheld, such a massive jump from my GBA SP for sure.

Oh also a superb feature packed version of Street Fighter Alpha 3 that was under 100mb so was a permanent fixture on my pap and vita (and the two machines could play that game and others in 2 player when linked) 🙂

Absolutely agree Dead Head Fred is such an amazing game with such a unique art-style and tone, it’s kinda like a mix between Tim Burton and Psychonauts it’s a very unique style. Plus all the characters had a bizarre, exaggerated stylized look to them, kinda like Psychonauts. The game had so much content and stuff you could do in it, it’s quite impressive for a PSP title. There were so many missions, objectives, side-quests, minigames plus there were the cock fights, billiards, pinball and the arena. It’s incredible the amount of content they were able to fit unto the PSP’s UMD disk. Dead Head Fred definitely deserves a modern remake/remaster or a sequel. 🧠
