@@fontyyy funny you should say something along those lines...I am lefty. I'm not Phil Mickelson. And I am most definitely HIM with a wedge in my hands 😉 I've broken many a heart in a skins game with my 60 degree wedge 😅 Its disgusting to be frank. In the best way possible, It's diabolical. .But words are just words. And who would even watch if I did post videos 😂 But some random ppl are that good. And they're not pros. It drives my brother nuts how I can take weeks to months, or even years off and come back and just shoot mid to upper 80s after a long hiatus 🙃 This year, I'm actually trying to go twice a week. Last few years been hectic. New puppy. House projects etc..This year. . .Is MY year 😊 It's the best medicine getting back into golf consistently ❤❤ Total mood booster 😊😊 anyways, Your point is still valid. And just like everybody I have my strengths on the course and my weaknesses. But a wedge is something I get such pleasure from. It's always on. Always... Now because I posted this. I'm sure my next round I'll flub it 😂😂 Anyways, cheers! Have a great season 👍

As someone who played with a full set of hybrids for a number of years I used to carry a "normal" gap wedge and lob wedge for shots around the green and bunkers. Also, work your yardages out on a driving range!

Chipping and round the green even with something like Cleveland HB's which are all hollow takes practice, if you catch it right in the middle it pops off like you've swung 20% faster, if you catch it out of the bottom, it's just normal. One thing I will always defend about Rick, is that every video I've ever watched by him, he's never sold himself out. If he does poorly with a packaged set, he'll let us know. And I don't remember a single instance when I've had to mash the fast forward button because he's inserted a 30-45 second advert in the middle of his round. One thing you can truly rely on Rick for is the ability to hit play and truly sit back and chill for the full duration of his round 👍

Another awesome video Rick. I think the key to these are for newbie’s like me (I have the Ram hybrid set). I can slow down my swing and have better control but still hit a decent distance. Interesting enough the Ram set has a standard 56 sand wedge and I’ve added a standard 60 lob wedge as well.

Nice set o' clubs Rick and that was a cool round. Been using hybs for almost 2 years now, Full set 3-PW combined with cavity back wedges. I'll never touch another set of regular irons nor my other sets of blade wedges (gave'em away anyways, LOL). They're easier to hit from ANY turf, go longer, higher and flight straight. If needed there's no problem working the ball or hitting'em under the wind or trees. And yar right, they're lighter. I lov'em! Weird thing is I used to aim at the trees to get outta the woods, I mean, you gotta be so good to hit a tree aiming at it, most likely it would be a miss, but with hybrids it's different as you'll hit the darn tree not 2 outta 3, but 3 outta 2 every time! Gladly nowadays these guys keep me away from the woods LOL

I bought a full set of hybrids about 18 months ago. The Lazrus black and silver hybrids, 2-PW. I actually missed my irons. I am older mid 60’s and fairly new to golf. I agree the wedges just don’t seem right as a hybrid, but getting used to them, I have added a gap hybrid by Adams to the set. Normally I gap them though, playing the odds or the evens with my driver. I like to carry a 7 & 9 iron in the bag, with a traditional PW.

@nathanialcollier1784 Месяц назад
Hot take, I think above 15 handicaps should have hybrids up to the PW then a thick soled SW. Makes striking the ball and the game overall easier in my opinion. Plus the hybrid PW could be the main chipping club since it’s hard to fat, as well most people can’t and don’t need to hit high soft chips very often except in bunkers which is where the SW comes in. It’s what I and several friends started with and we all went roughly from scoring 110-120 to low 90s in 2-3 months. Getting a ball in play and with good course management is more important so playing with something easy to hit is the way to go. Love the videos like these Rick

Bro, this has bothered me for so long. I guarantee Rick could score better if his course management was better. Golf sidekick is so smart with course management. Maybe, but playing the first hole with two sensible shots to avoid a very difficult chip with SW would be better course management? Rick is good from that 120-140 yards so why not leave that distance and take less risk off the tee?

I bot a set of the Forgan of St. Andrews hybrids. But I actually got on well with the 7 to PW better than the 3 to 6, which did not go as long as my Cobra One Length irons. 🤔 By the way...would like to see you review the Caley irons, and the RAM irons, which are both less than half the price of the big name manufacturers

I use 4-9 Thomas hybrids and I have some Ping i3s for my wedges. It works great for me. I am consistently 10-15 yards longer with them.

Enjoyed that, these all hybrid sets are a godsend for anyone like me who can't stop shanking....if you don't care what other golfers think then you'll find the game easier with these.....but Rick's right about the wedges, especially sand....need a normal one for chips and bunkers

Great vid Rick. I’ve got Adams 4,5&6 hybrids. I’m high handicapper and not to hybrid wedges!

After 2 years golfing, I finally decide to put my iron from 9 (130), P (120) and Gap (110) only and wedges 50, 56 & 60. The remaining clubs are hybrid 6-3 (cover from 140 onwards) and driver. My current hc is 14.4, hence it works well for me. My confidence from 140 is more with hybrids than iron.

Noticed Rick wasn’t using “Old Rusty” the Ping putter. I’m still in disbelief that a $2000 (full experience) Ping putter rusted the first time Rick used it in damp conditions. 😮 🤘😎 RS

I learnt to play using a full set of hybrids very similar to these. Brilliant to get you going. Would love to see what you can shoot using the highest game improving clubs, full set of legal 'Cheats' - get the Chipper out and the 70+ degree wedge.

You use regular wedges or hybrid wedges as well, because that's really the only downside for me

@@Bech285 Wedges were the 1st thing I added for bunkers / chipping. Then replaced down to 7 Iron before going for a full normal set.

I struggle with irons especially long irons and want to use something like this. Maybe you should use them until 9 iron then normal clubs. I bet you would have a good round.

When I think of hybrid irons I think of the Cleveland Halo or the Cobra Rails, not what you’re using. Would love to see a video on those if you haven’t already.

I played with a set of lady's hybrids once, they were awsome, though they SW, GW and PW were normal irons with ladies graphite shafts, i loved the light whippy shafts, and i was hitting everything with a super high draw that would start off to the right of target and draw back as opposed to starting at the target and drawing off. And yes, it was a pleasure carrying a really light bag, she only had 11 clubs Putter, SW, GW, PW, 9,8,7,6 and 5 Hy, 5W and driver. It took no time to get used to them. Felt like i could have played 36 holes no bother.

I carry a Ping driver, 3,5,7 woods and 5,7 hybrids and then Wilson 7-SW launch pad irons. The Wilson’s are a semi hybrid. I also carry a Ping ChipR. It’s a good combination at my age (70). In my 20-40s I carried Ping 1-Sw irons. Couldn’t hit the 1-5 irons any more due to lack of clubhead speed. I’m a convert to hybrids at least for the longer irons. It makes for a more enjoyable game so why not use the tech and the newer Ping woods are great, especially my G430 Max driver which is the best I’ve ever had. Again probably couldn’t hit the woods I used to hit 30 years ago.

I would actually watch a full 18, but were you stop at the 9 or PW hybrid and take regular wedges. I've got a 4 and 5 hybrid myself and they are two of my favs in the bag. So easy to hit

You should try the Cleveland halo launcher xls. They do what you want with hybrid irons and shrink when they get into the more lofted clubs.

Rick you should do a break 75 with these but replace sw and pw with your normal wedges.
