I Played 100+ Days of Stardew Valley WITHOUT using the Wiki 

Hey everyone! Some of you might have seen this twice now, for good reason. My original version contained a portrait mod that leveraged AI trained on assets by other artists. As this goes against the "indie-spirit" of Stardew Valley, some awesome commenters pointed out that it's kinda scummy to use AI art, and I agree. So, instead of saying, "I'll just keep the video up and get a different mod in for part 2," I decided to go back and edit a new version with portraits created by real people. Thanks so much for your understanding and patience!

As someone who's played Don't Starve, I never understood why so many people claim you need to Wiki to play Stardew. Everything you need to know is conveyed within the game by talking to characters and visiting the library, and a lot of people miss out on actually interacting with the world in favour of efficiency.

First of all, it’s really amazing to see how quickly you reacted to the situation regarding the AI art and the changes you made. What incredible integrity from your part and only solidifies you as my favorite HM RU-vidr (even if this is a stardew video lol). Thank you so much and I also really hope you take a nice break cause re-editing that quickly must’ve been a lot of work and stress. A question you had on the last video but not here is who you should marry, and if you continue to not use the wiki I think figuring out how to bromance krobus would be really fun! But if you are going for one of the actual bachelor(ette)s, I would say penny!

This was so fun to watch! So keen for part two. 😄 🌴🏝️ General tips for Ginger Island 🏝️🌴 (no spoilers) When you go to Ginger Island, make sure you’re prepared for a field trip! 🎒 - Bring all your tools with you, you’ll never know what you might need in a new biome. - Don’t forget to pack or wear a light source, it gets dark on the island too. - Check out the mines again, there’s so much left to explore! - Adventuring is hungry work, so make sure you bring some fortifying snacks. - Keep an eye out for any patterns or irregularities… The island will speak to you if you’re ready to listen and delve a little deeper.

I legit LOVE this concept. Enough that… I’m gonna join alongside and see how much I can accomplish without looking anything up, just relying on my rough memories of the game.

Absolutely incredible how much you know for your *semi* first play through of this game. I probably went through about seven save files on this game before I knew this much lol. Incredible video as always, looking forward to the next one!!!

You can "reset" dirt patches with a pick axe. That might make your path laying a little easier. Enjoy! 😊

It was so refreshing seeing someone play without the wiki! I'd LOVE to see a part 2 of trying to figure out Ginger Island! Would also be cool to see you marry someone lol. You can use the quarry for holding machines like kegs. Make sure you put pathing down, though, as rocks will still spawn around things. Look for odd markings in the sand on the Island & hoe them. Also shake or cut down trees on the Island for some occasional surprises.

Quick tip: best levels in the mines to refresh are 20, 40 and 80 for the ores. The further down you go, the more chance of finding gems and other rare stuff... Also, easiest way to get a ancient seed is by killing bugs from 0-40 , just check odd number levels and kill them, ez

tip: you need to be 10 hearts with a bachelor or bachelorette to get the amulet on the beach as it is an item that you use to propose:)

Ah what a great video and listening to Stardew Valley soundtrack again is so relaxing. And the dilemma of configuring your farm layout... when you think the layout is perfect.. the next day you find it a little bit off lul. i don't have suggestion but i remember you can let your farm animal go outside and they will eat the grass, so you don't have to use hay all season (except Winter cuz no grass). Anyway can't wait fer Part 2 and see dat perfect/beautiful farm layout

Always love these 100 Days vids! I tend to go back to certain Harvest Moon games more often than Stardew out of nostalgia, but Stardew really is a fantastic time.

I am so bappy you jumped onto Stardew!! Honestly, this game helped bring some of my friends into Story of Seasons! It is such a fun game and your experiences were so similar to mine in a lot of ways! I am SO looking forward to part two!

My very first perfection run was with Stardew Valley Expanded… the wikis were my best friends. Great job with going without the Wiki

this was so cool to watch! as someone who watched way too many stardew content creators and googled everything when i got stuck in the game, i completely missed out on the integral part of discovering everything yourself. i really look forward to watching part 2 and also seeing what you'll do with the 1.6 update! instant sub :D

Couple of suggestions. If you see seafoam pudding at the traveling cart for 800g again, I would purchase it. It costs way more at the moonlight jellies festival. Also, you can open your barn and coop doors (the doors to the right of where you enter those buildings) to let the animals out if you want. If you put grass starters out for them, they will eat those instead of hay. Overall, very good effort. I was worried for a second when you went with remixed bundles lol 🎉

Love your 100 days videos, I look forward to seeing a possible part 2 to this one! A couple helpful hints, use your watering can to help you travel across the lava pools in the volcano mine, golden walnuts are hidden around the island and if you collect 100 it unlocks a special area on the island!

the fact that the train at around 51:00 did actually drop smth just on the other side of the train by the tree farm😭 (it was leprechaun shoes!)

Hmmm... tips that could help... without giving it away. The glowstone ring is the equivalent of the bigger magnet and glow rings. It uses less expensive resources than the iridium band does, but doesn't have the combat bonus. In the lava dungeon, you might find the hot java ring. While wearing this, a kill may net you a cup of coffee or triple shot espresso. So, free coffee for kills! Purchase the triple shot espresso recipe from Gus at the saloon. He's the only one you can get it from. It takes 3 coffees and makes them into 1 espresso. The coffee effect lasts longer with a triple shot. During the last week of the month is when tea tree saplings/plants have leaves available to harvest every day. Go every day to Caroline's sunroom to nab a free one. They can be pickled like vegetables, or make green tea, beloved by the mayor and Caroline as a gift. Any rings or weapons you're not using anymore can be sold to the adventurer's guild for a little profit. Coffee is a Spring/Summer crop, so you can grow it outside during these two seasons. It takes 5 beans of the same quality to make in the keg (the same quality thing is a pain in the butt.) Pumpkins make you more as juice or pickled in a preserves jar, rather than sold as produce. Keep upgrading your tools, especially the pickaxe and watering can. Go read the graves in town. One of them was previously unreadable, because it was in dwarvish. But, you can read/speak that now. Visit the desert trader. He takes a lot of gems in exchange for stuff you want. Diamonds for triple shots and Rubies for Spicy Eels are available every day. There's also rotating stock that changes with the day of the week... Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays are the most popular. Hope these all help! And congrats on a wiki free run.

I haven't seen this mentioned, so just wanted to comment: You aren't doing anything wrong with the trains that came through. Sometimes you get presents that literally fall off the train, but other times you get unlucky and nothing happens. I'm so impressed with the progress you made in one year!!! It took me at least 3 in-game years to get to the island, and that was with infrequent use of the wiki. Really well-done video as well!!

I’ve been playing stardew since it came out, and honestly you got farther than i ever would have expected. my advice for ginger island is to look on the ground for patterns with blank spots between them - like flowers or shells - and see if theres anything under the dirt. :)

This is so strange. I love Stardew Valley but played it close to launch. So in some ways im like "look at this new player going in blind" and the. Stuff like the ocean floor or island are new to me and im like "what the heck?!"

For me at this point, I feel like I kinda optimized the fun out of the game. When I saw you just randomly standing around and fishing, or planting loads of different crops, I got a little sentimental, because that's something I'd never do, as it's just so """inefficient""". I don't know when I started to optimize my gameplay so bad but I kinda miss just casually messing about and doing random bits, not worrying about the lost time, because really, what meaning does time have in this game anyway? I really have to give that a shot again, once 1.6 comes out. Also, I much liked watching this video. Your commentary is very calming, with the occasional joke sprinkled in, I love it. Also I've picked up from the comments the whole AI Portrait debacle and I salute you for acting so quickly, taking down the video and fixing the issue. That's a level of responsibility that not many content creators can claim for themselves.

I miss the times when I didn't know wikis were a thing. It was so much fun just discovering this game on my own and at my own pace. Now whenever I play games I feel the desperate urge to look up things to optimise everything.

As an OG Harvest Moon enjoyer, it took me a hot minute to get "used to" Stardew Valley, but to be fair, I tried it in freaking 1.2 originally lol. My first save that actually stuck and got me addicted was started in 1.3 Been playing very often ever since, and I even make mods for it now. I have so many HM and Stardew saves that way back in the day I had a like, Family Tree, where I played all the handheld Harvest Moons as the child from the save before, and right now I'm playing Stardew Valley as my original Harvest Moon Animal Parade son. It's fun y'all should try it.

I have never once dealt with 'Friendship Decay' So I am **CONVINCED** that it's NOT a real thing, and that it's just some really REALLLY long-running joke that Concerned Ape and everyone who makes these kinds of videos, and the Wiki talks about... KINDA like Herobrine in Minecraft. (There's my 'precedent' argument.) And I have over a thousand hours in SDV BEFORE ever touching mods. (I have recently started using mods, but my first thousand hours I didn't use mods at all, I just like the game for what it is. It's very zen to me.)

i mean this so respectfully: ginger island might be impossible without looking up wtf to do. one puzzle specifically is actually so complicated i didn’t even fully understand the answer itself, let alone figure it out. (It’s the damn rain mermaid music task literally wtf).

for fish, if they have real life counterparts, you can try looking up their seasonal behavioral patterns to see if you can figure out when you can catch them. not technically using the wiki!

Tips: Luck does not affect geodes. The sequence in which you open them do, though. Try scything your grass or wheat now that you've build a silo. Legendary fish need as deep water as possible. Except the angler, which is a downright weirdo.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but: Geodes are not effected by luck You should be able to check which fish are in season on the TV.

My first farm, which is also my almost perfection farm, I played about 3 years in game before I opened the wiki as the fish in different seasons THREW me for a hot minute 😂 I was always missing a fish for each of the fish tank bundles and soft locked myself until the next year when I could catch it again. The fishing mini game for a newbie made me not wanna fish for awhile 😂 but I got there and now have all of the fish caught after 12 years in game lmao!!!! 🤣

Certainly more efficient then I was my first play through

it would have been interesting to add the visible fish mod to this, to see what fish are available easier. I have played lots of Stardew and still have to google what fish are available when, this mod helps a TON.

I also restarted AWL dozens of times, I have hundreds of hours in the remake and never made it fully to chapter 5 lol The first year is just so good! I always say "I'm going to take it easy this time" and then have fully maxed relationships by winter. And then after a few seasons of not needing to gift anyone I miss them and restart the game again...

I can understand why some people not liking Stardew, especially without Mods(The only thing that gives it an advantage but the fact some people might need to rely on fan made stuff is a bit oof for the game) A Wonderful Life is a game that tried to be realistic with its Farming and interaction with people but still feel a funny and chill game, even when there are characters canonicly dying INCLUDING the player character Stardew valley is a game that want their characters to "Have real life characterization thats relateable" despite the game having Rune Factory level of Magical World Building(Might aswell play Rune Factory at that point) so how am i suppose to feel relateable in a world where its not possible to feel relateable?
