I think you should try to play the challenge with an american or british Tank so you can understand what the crew is saying. Then it would be easier for you to tell if anything on the enemy tank got damaged.

I’m pretty sure Odd could just play without the screen and still get like 7 kills

I turned the HUD off by accident a while back when playing on Normandy (on the shoreline overlook no less). I learned super quick to listen to the shouts of the crew for certain things, and more than once shot dead vehicles 2-3 more times. It was equal parts terrifying and satisfying. Then I figured out which key turned the HUD back on and discovered my team had completely evaporated around me.

imagine if Gaijin adds in the future a mini HUD , it would be cool

Ah yes, they kind of thing that although very interesting I immediately went: "That won't be an issue for a skilled lad like him" 🤣

With this no HUD challenge, it goes to show it's wise to memorize what the crew on your vehicle say when you score a kill. That way, you are sure to know if you damaged an enemy or destroyed one.

I consider myself a good tiger main 524 kills and 214 deaths and i need to tell you 1 thing man panzergranate makes my damn day if it PENS it ENDS I swear if you dont use that sweet 300 grams of tnt equivalent then you are doing something wrong

I wish Gaijin would just release a module with a proper mission editor, so we can actually make WW2 scenarios with proper objectives, limitations (like no HUD, body in the tank kind of thing), unit compositions, single or multiplayer etc. Like, actual realism. Not 'fantasy capture the circle and throw away my plane, fight every nation all at once, never ending grind and unlocks'. They are just such a lazy developer. This video just reminded me how every tank has a magical Blue Force Tracker, kill feeds are incredibly immersion breaking, all aircraft have F35 style 'see through the cockpit targeting', unrealistic tank and aircraft sights, the list goes on and on. The fact that all the core components of a really good WW2 tank sim are there just makes it all the more painful.

Even without HUD, you're still better than the average wehraboo lmao

A couple years ago i tried this same thing but back then gaijin had the cross hair/ mill dots on the gunner sight set up as a hud element so if you turned your hud off, you also turned off your gunners sight so it was just the vignette around the edge of the screen. so at least now this is even feasable lol

this looks like how i would expect realistic to play, and hella fun. Not quite sim, but pretty real. theres way too much info in realistic IMO

My experience on that Br is that nearly every panther is a lvl100 player with bushes on it. And if you kill a player he instantly retaliates with CAS

Odd casually getting top of the board with no hud, while I can't even get out of spawn without getting blasted.

As a German main I will say the minimap is not important if you get flanked it’s obviously the teams fault for not covering you

Even simulator battles have a HUD I'm pretty sure, so this is even better

Yesterday (about 2 hours ago, it's 0.48 rn) I faced one of the best tiger players I've ever seen. He actually angled the hull so my D-5T couldn't penetrate it and wiggled the turret so I also couldn't hit the gun very easily.

The Swedish player replaced the original player (who apparently couldn't join) in the last match, thus Sweden isn't listed as an allied Nation in the scoreboard.

I think the most impressive thing about all of this is how he can play WT with Australia's internet

And this is why audio is so important in this game ! So many audio cues ! Crew calling shots and various actions and such.. Every single sound got its importance in WT ! (treffer, ziehl zerstort, geladen,...)

So funny to watch as a german, Odd shoots, guy says 'Der hat gesessen! Feind zerstört! (Thats a good hit! Enemy destroyed!)' and he just says well i think we got him

Next step would be using the proper gunner sight position and downloading historical reticles, there's ones for the Tigers for instance that mimic the circular ranging design of their IRL telescopic sight. I unironically play that way (though with the HUD on still), it's neat for multiple reasons.

Missed the opportunity to use a historical Tiger gun sight, that would've been perfect.

Would be nice if we could have sim but with RB camera, not cockpit or commander view

@Oddo So, game 3 is explicable: The only guy on your team playing Sweden, disconnected. So, the team list does not show Sweden as a played country, BUT the bot is a Swedish Strv. (Which showed up on the team list. :) )

This is the first video I've watched of yours that gave me anxiety. Great video. But, as a bushmaster myself, I took offense to your comment lol. I need the bushes on some of my tanks because I kinda suck and that extra split second sometimes helps. Sometimes. Love the video as always. I don't comment often but I do view all. Keep up the great work. Hope to run into you on the battlefield one day, hopefully on the same team.

Fascinating. Spare a thought for actual tank crews in combat IRL. Archival images of real tanks destroyed in combat often reveal many more hits than the kill-shot. That's because there was not always a reliable indicator the tango was down, and tanks kept firing until, perhaps the target brewed up or crew were seen egressing. No convenient 'TARGET DESTROYED' in the scope. Guessing use of the MG would not have helped either as the indicator the target was live would normally appear in the HUD too.

One step up would be using the true gunner sights, going from barrel View to a offset while playing multiple different tanks can get tricky to pull of pinpoint shots that we are used to.

I can barely play tanks with the HUD and Odd is out here doing better than me without it.

Hi Oddz, some friendly advice- playing without a minimap and HUD totally sucks 😀. Sometimes it’s happened to me mid game and it makes gameplay really really hard. Credit for even trying this and as usual you are still awesome!

Super fun to watch you be more challenged and lean on all your experience to still crush it. Definitely more of this pls. I've always thought the game should really be sim controls and display, with rb mechanics, on arcade maps. You should add in the stock gunner offset effect next time, rather than boresighted. That plus cockpit viewpoint really shows off some of the real world developments in vehicles, like the advantage of bubble canopy, or tanks with the gunner sights on the same horizontal plane as the barrel. This challenge might make high tier games much more intriguing also.

This was great. I will say that there are real tankers who put camo on their tanks, especially in WW2. I know you probably know that, but you and I can agree to disagree on whether bushes are OK in game or not. Love your content.

You should play like this for like a month. When you turn the HUD back on, you'll be a god. Also, I mean, this is kinda the reason tracers were invented irl too, heh.

Awesome video, no HUD is pretty insane LoL. Hey, can you play the israel aml 90? I just started on the Israeli tech tree and this little thing is so damn fun, can only imagine what kind of hell you will unleash in the enemy team if you play it.

i miss the old layout Simulator battles used to have. no kill feed, no penetration camra or any other aids. i remember when you needed the parts mod just to repair tracks. if ou lost a track you were stuck there.

I really liked this challenge it made the game feel far more realistic and it was pretty cool to see you play with a disadvantage compared to the other players your up against. It sucks the flying aspect didnt work for you but your still insanely good against players that have a hud. Great video odd.

When you were reading the discord subs, at some point it sounded like a cool beat to some music.

Should have also done this challenge from the gunner sight. Different learning curve.

If you wanted to, you could of put gun sights to go from the actual gun sight and not barrel. It’s a nice edition to a challenge like this

I never have fun in the H1, I always just get shot in the cupola with US or Soviet APHE and get rekt. Much rather just play 5.7 with the Panther A and Tiger E.

Play it in sim, with turning on the English dub for the crew. Easy to understand, the most realistic feel.

The Tiger H1 is definitely one of the best tanks at 5.3 when played by someone who isn't a blind smooth brained its terrifying to fight. Unless it's the jubo, the jubo is pure doom vibes when it's at its BR and played well

That’s so dumb that the keyboard flight relies on having a hud element visible. You’d think the game would act as if the element was still there.

That second battle in the rain was cinematic as fuck....looked like some WWII movie. Interesting what just turning off the HUD can do. Of course, unlike Odd, I'd just fail worse than I usually do. If only he uploaded in 4k 21:9. LOL

Awesome video. It shows just how immersive the game can be if you choose to. Its kinda like Sim but with less disadvantages like team killing because of misidentifications.

I mean you can see all of these things in the plane... the cockpit instruements DO work in War Thunder...surprisingly ;)

Did you know you can see the ammount of shells you have left by pressing o? and that you know it a tank is dead by the voice saying "Voltreffer! nächstes Ziel!"?

How to be a German player in WT. Step #1. Spawn in Step #2. Ignore capture points Step #3. Rush other team spawn

Bushes are fine if it’s a TD. They are ambush predators. So reducing the chance of being spotted with foliage is historically reasonable. Probably even on SPAAs too. But coating Mediums and Heavies in bushes does feel wrong. They are the mobile forces. And moving clumps of bushes is goofy.

Havent played simulator battles (absolutely hate there aren't low br sim battles) but if they aren't like this they should def make a no HUD game mode
