Thirty days are insane, you can spend ages with endgame challenges or chess puzzles. The way of thinking you need to develop, like scoring you pieces and calculating logically two or three moves ahead takes years too. I think one of the fastest learners these days was Susan Polgar, maybe check out her book. I tried something similiar a few years ago to beat my older girlfriend. I bought all the instructionals of the old grandmasters like capablanca, lasker, bronstein, alekhine. Actually chess has a certain history in developing, each grandmaster changing the game. It was a very interesting but brain busting journey. After almost a year, my girlfriend stopped calling me idiot after winning 1 of 3 games against her.

You should consider that most strong chess players have a whole team supporting them like professional athletes. Chess is not a simple thing.
