I feel so sorry for the kids back in the day who got the PSP version of Cars 2, thinking it would be the same as the console or even the DS/3DS versions
i can excuse it not being the same as console but why on earth is it nothing like the ds/3ds versions? like why waste the development time making a completely different version?
@@CrashFan03 making a completely different version for the PSP doesn't bother me as long as it's good, just like what happened with the PSP version of Cars 1
@@demosneokleous4877 I mean yeah but this is a case that feels especially egregious considering how many 3ds to psp ports existed in the short overlap those two had
That was me back in 2018. I thought that it will look the same as the console gameplay videos I watched when I was younger but turns out, it was a different game.
Fun fact about Race-O-Rama PSP (*specifically* PSP): In the cutscene that plays before the final race with Chick Hicks, at some point Lightning says "For a car that doesn't race, you sure looked the part." Chick then says "Ah, you got dressed up, too," despite Lightning being visually unchanged since the very start of the game. This is because the console games had Kit Parts (allowing body customization) and had different car models for McQueen at various points in the game, but the PSP/DS didn't. The console games had Lightning don a different car model specifically for that race and its pre-race cutscene. In fact, here's proof that the console games' cutscene was 'different': ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MmAuwDmEe7c.html On another note, the pre-race cutscene takes place during the daytime, but on DS/PSP, the actual race itself is at night. Meaningless in the grand scheme of things, but I thought it was somewhat interesting to note nonetheless.
I remember I owned cars 1 psp and it will always be something to remember, my dad went out to do some grocery shopping so it was just me at the house watching cartoons, when he returns, I help him with the shopping and I just see the psp case peek out of his bag, he pulls it out and hands over the game :)
Tbh I like the idea of a Cars Slot racing game it seems like an interesting idea for a Cars game, just imagine all the characters, customization, tracks, modes, etc in it,it could've been basically the world of cars online mixed with the console games
One thing that really baffles me is that the PSP version of Cars 1 has way more playable characters than the home console version of Cars 1. For example: All of the import tuners are playable in the PSP version, while only one of them is playable in the home console version. (not counting the minigame where you briefly control DJ and Boost)
1:23 i do remember this as either an open-world or (most probably) a race music in the Wii version, it's less cozy than using the default menu music, but it just slaps SO hard. If they didn't want to use the default, i don't think there would be a better option
@@KLEJGaming I don’t know if you do requests or not but can you please make a video going over more obscure stuff from my childhood? I’m talking about the old Cars iOS games (which don’t exist anymore) all of the educational Leapster games and even the old website games
@dylanbanning - for some reason this was held for review and I missed it!!! I'm sorry for the late reply - I am in the process of making a Cars Mobile games video for this week! The leapster games are on my radar, currently planning the best way to tackle that :)
@@KLEJGaming Ok but what about the old and newer website games because those are the ones that get me really nostalgic aside from all the mobile games Edit: don’t even give me started on the Leapster games because HOLY CRAP they are nostalgic AF
I actually enjoy the PSP version of Cars 1 better than the home consoles tbh, but my god idk wtf happened with Cars 2, they could’ve just ported the DS version like with ROR but nope
Cars 2 on PSP looks like an upscaled DS game! Cars: Race-O-Rama wasn't much of a looker compared to Cars: The Video Game, but at least it still had some attention to detail.
The psp version is the only main console version of cars 2 haven’t played. And I honestly don’t care to. Even as a kid looking up footage of this version, I felt ripped off seeing it was some mobile game looking ass thing using the same presentation as the incredible wiis360 version.
oh wow I never knew the story on PSP for Cars was completely different from every other version. I always wanted this version as a kid but never owned a PSP until recently because making money as an adult is easy but I only own Sonic Rivals 1 and 2 so far
Some things about Race O Rama on PSP specifically against its DS port that I think are worth mentioning is that the PSP version has a lot of changes that actively make the playing experience worse. At 6:35 you can see when you pick up a wrench you get like Call of Duty flashbang’d which is a visual effect exclusive to the psp port that is really obnoxious and painful to see the 60+ times you pick up the game’s main collectible. Also I don’t think it’s shown at all in the video but when you hit one of the postcard cameras the game will flash the postcard on screen while you’re still landing and it can make you crash into things if you aren’t prepared. On top of those the boost meter has no visual indicator if you are actively benefiting from a boost multiplayer bonus and NONE of these issues are on the DS version. If you can stomach the pixelly visuals the DS port has a way better feel when you’re playing story mode imo
oh my god Cars 2006 on the psp was the only game i would play on my psp for hours and hours. there was this track - that had a long straight with boosters that sent you flying and if you went over them they would close - that i would race on liteally every day, so much that i remember chuck would always get first and ramone and luigi would stay together in 5th and 4th xD
Fun fact for the firs cars PSP game you can unlock a bonus reverse speedway track with a cheat code: At the main menu hold the L button And enter X, Square, Triangle, X, Triangle, Square
When you’re done with all of them will you combine all the videos together into one big review, I don’t ask of you to redo everything, just stitch the clips together and I’ll watch it all.
• Cars (2006) the Video game PSP is my Favorite so much! • Race-O-Rama PSP Version...Well, PS2 I prefer the Much better Version of Cars Race O Rama • Cars 2, The One i Forgot that has a PSP Version on it.
OH MY GOOOD, SOMEONE FINALLY COVERED CARS 1 FOR PSP! FINALLY! I loved this game so much and there was surprisingly a lot more content than you actually covered. There were time trials, collectibles, paints jobs for SOOO many characters. Oh, maan, I should definitely replay it someday And ahhh... what the hell is this Flash game doing on your list? I thought we were only talking about PSP Cars games here... oh... OH, it was an official game? I thought it was a fan game based on Cars 2, not an actual game to be bought in stores Even from the footage alone I can say this is the worst Cars game ever. The camera, the visuals, even the gameplay doesn't look engaging whatsoever... and it was released for PSP??? Disgusting.
Thanks for the video Klej, I love hearing you talk about these goofy licensed games! Did Cars 2 send you flying off the track if you go round the corner too fast, like an actual slot car?
Here's a few things I thought about, picked up on etc. Okay so as of this video you've played all versions of Cars 1 except the Java and Console version. As far as i'm aware you've also done all versions of Race-O-Rama now. Now here's something that really really confuses me. Why didn't Cars 2 get a PSVita version? Like comeo on the 3DS got a release a few months after the others why not the Vita. The Vita is strong enough to run PS3 games they could've just ported the console version to Vita WHY DIDN'T THEY DO- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Also here's some other things, did you know there's a Pixar Kinect game from 2012 (That eventually got ported to One and Steam in 2018) which features Cars levels, are you gonna cover that? And wouldn't it be funny if you did a Planes Double Review for bothy games cuz like the Fire and Rescue game as far as i've seen has no reviews and barely anyone mentions their handheld ports so yeah Planes The VG + F&R The VG + Their respective handheld ports would be cool. Hope you reply. Nightboy13x from Sweden.
Hello!!! Sorry for my late reply - the yt app shows newer comments and I keep getting behind on my responses That Pixar kinect game is on my radar as well!!
11:06 Cars 1 for GBA is ♾ times better than this crap. Why couldn't they at least port the DS version of Cars 2 to PSP, just like what happened with Race O' Rama?
Cars 2 psp is literally the worst Cars game out there. It's not even close. 60/100 on metacritic is like a 100/100 for it. The game is barely playable with the camera placement always changing, gameplay being boring and repetitive. I really despise this game a lot even though I played it for maximum of 10 minutes when I was at school. I cannot really understand who can enjoy this game when u have cars 1 with it being faster, better looking and FUN to play
@@KLEJGaming Well, I do like how they kept the videos unlike the GameCube version, but I'd be willing to get rid of them for a port of that version (since they have the same memory capacity of 1GB) I mean, look at Toy Story 3, or Family Guy The Video Game. Basically carbon copies of the sixth-generation versions (Though with a few stuff compressed to fit the smaller storage).
@@KLEJGaming oh yeah. There was that one game i remember in wich you had to make tracks of your own and the controls were literally just one pedal. But it was fun, at least during the part of my infancy where i played it
50/100 is really generous for Race-O-Rama considering how the first game is already kinda bad, and Race-O-Rama is just worse. The physics are even worse, it crashes, the Guido Kart races suck, glitchy races. And I don't know what people see in them.
