Honestly to me, whether it’s good or bad doesn’t matter because it’s coming to game pass. But honestly I hope it’s good! It’s time for Lara Croft and Nathan Drake to allow their dad to go on a good adventure
Some American ads that played when the first games were coming out had people pronouncing it Laura instead of Lara. I say this as someone who grew up calling her Laura and getting crucified on the internet for doing so lol
Game Pass is killing it for the end of 2024. Black Ops 6, STALKER 2, and Indiana Jones! Well worth the $12 a month for PC Game Pass and normally I don't subscribe.
If you like the immersive stuff then you’ll probably like the full release even more. There was some stuff I didn’t mention like climbing stamina, combat stamina, and just being able to pick up a surprising amount of things that you’ll probably enjoy too!
@@ThatBoyAqua Yeah the types of games I like most are immersive sims, I never thought an Indiana Jones games would have stuff close to those types of games, I wasn't sure about this game but since I'm weak to immersive sims now I'm going to try it.
I love how you give upfront critiques of the games not letting what you say be affected by bias. Hopefully some of these issue will be ironed out before launch. I'll definitely pick it up as a massive Indy fan and from what you said the hand to hand combat seems really good which is something I have been craving from a game like how it is in rdr2
Ahhh yes, Indiana Jones the photo journalist?! Maybe it’s just used a good bit in the sections they allowed you to show, but my take away from the video they gave you is that he’s on a bird sanctuary tour.
@ThatBoyAqua how much you paid to say that? Lol I'm playing. But it's hard to trust it when Bethesda flew you out. I'll wait until release and read a bunch of reviews before I buy it. I am interested in it though.
I‘ve always been a diehard Indiana Jones fan, so playing the PS5 Port in Spring 2025 is a no-brainer. I‘m probably not the first to tell you this, but please go and watch the movies. They are timeless and I honestly envy you for st being able to watch them for the first time. Love the videos, keep it up man. 👍🏻
Hey, Boy Aqua, do yourself a favour and watch the 3 original Indiana Jones movies from the 1980s. They are some of the best action-adventure movies ever made!
You can really see the DNA of the Chronicles Of Riddick games as well as The Darkness in this, which isn't surprising since much of the leadership at MachineGames came from working on those games at Starbreeze. Getting very excited about another Indy adventure.
I don’t think I will. I’ve criticised early previews before (like ac mirage) and still received review codes. It’ll probably be fine The only way I see myself not getting a code is if their budget is adjusted and there just aren’t enough codes to go around.
@@ThatBoyAqua Trust me u will get way way more respect or more subs if people sees u as a honest unbiased reviewer. This has become so rare to see today, and many people sick of IGN or other huge companies paid reviews . btw i just subbed instant after u show the hotel room and share all that stuff Bethesda provided to you , and still keep ur opinions about the game unbiased.
those were passionate devs, not political snowflakes that can't take any opinions... probably creative process was 10x worse than what any reviewer told them 😅
Interesting critique on the puzzles, when they did a developer interview which mentions they will have challenging logical puzzles “that don’t hold your hand” and a modifier to make it easier for those who don’t like puzzles. I really hope this was just the beginning puzzles or that the modifier was on, because I was really looking forward to them being a challenging focus.
Being a massive Indy fan I was practically sold on this game when it was announced, but I still appreciate an objective critique. The only criticism that gives me pause is the potential puzzle difficulty. Hopefully, that one side puzzle is just an early game standout and not indicative of the overall quality later in the game.
It's great to see reviews that offer genuine opinions and insightful analysis of the game. Reviews created solely to flatter or mislead only hold the community back. Thank you for your videos-I really appreciate them!
i like how there are Americans right now struggling to buy food, but companies can afford/are willing to pay some guy on youtube to fly out, get a hotel, and test out a mid looking video game.
You can’t be “unbiased” when giving an opinion. Opinion IS “bias”. Opinion is the collection of your experiences and tastes influencing your view. Bias is only relevant for journalistic reporting purposes that are not editorial based. Reviews are editorial and completely subjective. Theres no way to be “unbiased” while giving an opinion. It’s an oxymoron.
I’ll try to better explain it next time, but when I say an opinion I give is trying to be unbiased, I mean that I am trying to present what I think is a good game, not necessarily what I would play. In this case, I think, given what the games goals are, it’s good, but I personally don’t find it all that fun for me. Totally agree that every opinion will be biased, which is why I like laying out my personal history with the character and in this case the special treatment so viewers know where I’m coming from.
@@ThatBoyAqua Apologies if any of what I said came off as confrontational, it wasn’t meant that way. I just often see RU-vidrs attempt to head off disingenuous comments about their “bias” on something when it’s a foolish non debate. I get your meaning though, you are trying to say that you go into these situations as open minded as possible and not unduly influenced by outside factors or people. As someone that is an Indy fan I appreciate you explaining that you are not. You are giving people an understanding of where you are coming from.
I seriously feel like every time developers brag about their puzzles in their game, they just end up being boring cookie cutter sequences of button pressing
Machinegames are just really good at making first person cinematic games based on classics from 30+ years ago where you kill nazis with stealth and guns
I really appreciate how in depth you went for an impressions video. I’m a huge fan of the Indy movies so I’ve going into this game with the same mindset I did for Hogwarts Legacy. I loved that game but not for the gameplay. The story, world, characters, immersion were all fantastic as a fan of the Harry Potter movies.
I liked India Jones and the infernal Machine. It was so good for its complex puzzles and rare fight moments. But this one looks so meh. Puzzles don't seem to be a focus, it just seems like any slow paced fps game with good graphics (that are a norm now).
So far, this looks better than I expected. I was planning to wait for the PS5 release, but seeing how great it looks, I may just get the PC version on Steam for the best possible visual experience. I'm still gonna play it on my 4K TV with a controller, either way.
The biggest question that all the problems you just said did you mention these problems aside of the AI problem because your feedback would be really helpful for them
I made sure I told someone on the team my thoughts. A lot of it comes down to me not jiving with their immersive design. I don’t expect them to alter the game fundamentally for me. They did assure me that AI was very high on their list of things to iron out before launch. They also mentioned that the puzzles would get harder, as what we played was early in the game.
everything you described reminds me of chronicles of riddick (stealth focus almost no shooting) which was a really good game and also made by machine games.
All the enemies having the exact same character model is really jarring. Especially when you're fighting multiple in the same instance. First person makes it way more noticeable.
So the gunplay didn't allow you to run in and headshot every enemy, and when the game didn't let you sprint from waypoint to waypoint on the map you pulled out your phone out of boredom? No offense, and I never make comments like these, but honestly Ubisoft's annual output might be more your speed.
I didn't know about this game and when I heard you say Bethesda studios I already suspected easy puzzles and ai and am a little disappointed that I was right. However I think it could be fun. Thank you very much!
I will be able to look past the issues that bother you for sure. By fandom of the character alone Basically about all I needed you to tell me was just that it doesn't suck
The Indiana Jones trilogy had plenty of gun fights, yeah there was quite a bit of hand to hand combat and stealth, but the fact that guns are given a poor treatment is sad. I wish the game allowed you to aim your gun better. There are plenty of games that mix melee and firearm combat, so there’s no excuse for the game to be like this.
I loved Wolfenstein TNO and TNC, like seriously two of my favorites ever, so I'm conflicted about this game. It looks great, but i resent that they haven't been taking this time to make Wolfenstein 3
To be fair they've made like... 6 Wolfenstein games counting spin-offs and that one VR title, I'd want a change of pace as well, I'm guessing the next Wolfenstein is already in pre-production and will go full steam ahead once this launches.
Doing an Uncharted or Tomb Raider clone would've been the easy and obvious approach. I appreciate this somewhat strange first person / third person hybrid. It's unique, a curveball and the devs are pushing the action adventure genre forward
IDK about the puzzles man it a fine line between hard and arbitrary and I don’t really trust the team. EZ is the right approach ( or hard and 100% optional )
Yet another game that's trying balance the "Realism" in extra big quotations and making a fun game. It's like, sure do the realism but then don't make it so that you can literally whip guns out of dude's hands?? There's literally no point there needs to be a stamina meter for climbing it's just not fun to me and smells of board member decisions who have never played a game before.
First person was such a bad call for this game tbh. I think the only time I really felt like first person was a natural way to play a game was with RDR II. It really helped that that game was made with 3rd person primarily.
I'm hoping it's one of those "looks weird on video but feels good to play" type situations, like Silent Hill 2 Remake, when I go back and watch the combat animations in that game they're... rough, but actually playing it I never noticed it, it felt responsive
"I talked to the team." (L) "They flew me out." (L) "They paid for my living expenses." (L) "Even if I'm biased, I haven't even watched Indiana Jones." (L)
By the look of the video: combat looks outdated and not fluid, enemies get lock on goofy animations, and movement in general looks sluggish. For an action/adventure game looks pretty bad to me.
Maybe it's just me but looking at gameplay footage,I can't help but think this game would be awesome with motion controls.they want people to feel like indy, well that would do it,if you really swung your arms when using the whip,or throwing a punch and indy then does the same on screen.and when an enemy punches back, you counter with a block etc.
I absolutely respect the honesty in this review, and getting it from a non Indiana jones fan was good to get a second pair of eyes. The game looks good but all I think is how I wish the whole game was just 3rd person but maybe they didn’t want to just make it feel like an uncharted rip off. I’m going in with an open mind but man I’m praying it’s goof
@@animedan3934yeah Bethesda publish games like Doom and Wolfenstein but they don’t develop them. Id software and Machine games respectively develop them.
