Life Is Strange has become kind of a detective series that has you solving murders using various super powers. It's fine. But Don't Nod had a different vision for that particular universe that will undoubtedly take form with Lost Records.
i can’t explain it, but I’m feeling more optimistic about this than I am for double exposure. i don’t know if i can trust a Max Caulfield story that doesn’t include the original writers. THIS however looks truly amazing and I’m so excited for it.
@@strangewayfaringstrangerthey make a point tho. Lis true Colors and lis double exposure feel like cash grabs unlike Lost records. This game feel fresh and fun and not like some fan service game in Wicht you do the same thing you did in the previous games. I like that Don’t nod take risks. But that just my opinion
@@Heartquackes You do realize there are some pretty large similarities that Lost Records has with the first Life is Strange right? Swann is Max, just instead of stills, she takes motion picture. Double Exposure I don't expect to revolutionize anything, but I don't expect Lost Records will either.
@@ViperPilot16 You do realize shared narrative aspects, character traits and story beats are fairly negligible? I can take any of the LiS titles and narrow them down to games about troubled teens or young adults with supernatural abilities. Tells me absolutely nothing about any potential nuance those games offer, or the unique position each character is placed in. Nobody here is making the claim they expect either game to revolutionize anything. Most studios and creators tend to produce material that's thematically similar. Lost Records is no exception, but it offers at least a new (if similar) characters and setting that demonstrates the studio's willingness to chance on a new IP.
of course you are. as you should. do NOT trust the greedy capitalists of square enix who are milking the lis ip without care for the writing, art, music and overall aesthetic which actually defined life is strange for what it was before. they THINK what defines life is strange is the reused murder mystery found in 1 and true colours, but really, proven by the much different second game, the series can survive telling other types of stories in the same formula
Can we talk about Nora's acne? This is so awesome ! I would have loved to have a character with acne back in years, when I was a teen with ton of fondation to hide it :(
i really appreciated the body-inclusivity on the characters - swann being chubby and nora having acne really makes them feel more like real people, and not a fairytale version of teenagers
@@Heartquackesreal ! Acne is still heavily stigmatized, mocked and a lot of people throw random « magic tutorial » to get rid of it while they have no acne at all, showing their lack of education about acne. Nora is healing my 14 yo self even tho I don’t have acne anymore at 28. Dontnod is just the most awesome company in terms of inclusivity
Fun fact everyone: this game takes place in Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I know this because the ice cream shop sign caught my eye, "Yooper Scooper." The word "yooper" is a term we use because Michigan has two parts. I'm so excited that this game takes place where I'm from. From what I've seen so far, I'm happy they brought the atmosphere of the UP to life. It reminds me of my childhood in the UP. I can't wait to play this game!! 💫❤️
I really want double exposure to be a good sequel to max but im extremely skeptical. It might end up being just another underwhelming attempt to revive a beloved characters story. But im counting on bloom and rage to save my potentional bitterness 😅
"every detail of an object" while zooming in to a trolls arse hahahaha. Excellent cover and genuinely warm feeling video, I'm really looking forward to the release now! Cheers Cucu!
I’m really looking so much to this one. It takes the bad taste of the impending Deck Nine LiS reboot out of the summer. Hopefully Don’t Nod hangs onto this IP. ❤
@@strangewayfaringstranger Max is back after a decade of not using her powers in exactly the same place she was 10 years ago at another Blackwell with friends that mirror the ones she had there. Deck Nine has made “the choice” of the first game completely pointless as she’s exactly the same person with only different dialog options and modified cut scenes to hand wave at and distance the IP into a new Deck Nine world of new powers, new friends, and no Chloe. It’s probably the most obvious hijack and rebranding of an IP ever done. Better days are ahead, creatively speaking, with Lost Records. Deck Nine has pretty much done a AAA all over Life is Strange.
@KatanaGirlUTube, Maybe I'm putting too much faith in this new LiS game, but I feel like Max being in an extremely similar situation to the first game might be the point. My theory is that maybe she messed with time and reality so bad in the first game that she's stuck in a time loop where she's doomed to repeat the same mistakes over and over again. Like she moves on, makes new friends but the same problems arise. That's just my theory, but the point is I think there is definitely a reason they put her in the same position as the first game. I do think it's a scummy move to bring Max back though considering that dontnod said that her story is finished. Once again maybe I'm being blinded by nostalgia and hype to see Max again but everyone's just kinda assuming the worse when we barely know anything.
@@mattman2964 as you say, Don’t Nod’s intentions were that the story belonged to the fans after Bay vs BAE. Even with the best intentions, it’s wholly on Deck Nine that they stepped in to make canon what never was intended. This game is their Max, in their UnReal engined uncanny valley, exploiting Don’t Nod’s creation in an attempt to steer it into “another Max Caulfield time adventure.” Their words. What they’ve shown us is horrific in terms of doing anything with the characters, story, or method of telling it. Max’s character developed in one week in the original game a heck of a lot more than Deck Nine’s in the last decade. The marketing could all be a huge prank and there’s a Maxiverse of possibilities in store for us. But that’s not what they’ve shown over the summer, and that’s all we have to go on. The predatory pricing, lack of creativity, and complete disregard and blindness to a lot of fans and intentions of the OG kinda makes this look like a AAA move to monetizing the IP into a serialized “Life is pointless 💩.” (Except you get a super power…to solve murder mysteries, I guess…Yay? 🤷♀️ )
I'm so excited about this, I can't wait. I also didn't realize it before the scene at the start of this video but it's cool to see a videogame with a chubby MC for once
Here's the thing: Dont Nod creates original stories that mark people and make them remember it for years and years (i.e. LiS 1 and 2, Vampyr, Tell Me Why, Jusant and so on). DeckNine doesn't have the vernacular to do that, they're just not good writers and that's the truth. Nobody remembers or talks about True Colors anymore. Plus, Double Exposure has the SAME plot as True Colors: "oh no, who murdered my friend/brother in this countryside town? I better investigate".
@@wonderlanddreamer1021 nothing wrong with that game being your favorite but the LiS fandom has a majority of LiS 1 and 2 fans (and now DE since Max is in it) and those games are discussed the most amongst the community. It's not me saying it, it's a fact.
@@wonderlanddreamer1021 girrrrrl 💀 I tried being reasonable with you but it's clear you're looking for a fight. Your favorite game sucks and has no soul, it's the worst one in the franchise and that's a fact. Bye 💅
@@wonderlanddreamer1021 i mean, it's mostly true...ppl know LiS from the first game not True Colors. True Colors isn't very good/memorable to most fans
It really reminds me of Marie's Room - but instead of journal entries and main thoughts - we get to experience everything. The item rotation, choices, lightings and ambience
Hello :) The trailer has such a nostalgic feel to it! I was only a child in the 90s, but barely old enough to feel its impact in the early 2000s :) But I bet both older and younger generations will be able to vibe with the unique charm of the game! I’m already so anxious about picking sides, haha XD How am I supposed to choose between three amazing characters? With the added panic of dialogue timers too, so I bet my first playthrough will be a mess because I’ll try to appeal to everybody XD I’m excited for both Lost Records and Double Exposure, and I genuinely hope both will be amazing games :) Slightly more excited for Lost Records, though ;) Thanks for sharing this first look, I can’t wait to pre-order the game!
i absolutely loved the vibes of it - i feel like the 90s bled over into the 2000s a lot, so it's spurring back a lot of childhood memories, i'm still old enough to remember VHS tapes, and a bunch of my old home videos are on tape, so it's a throwback for sure :) as for picking sides - oh my gosh, it's SO HARD. it really does put you in the shoes of an anxious teenager going through major gay panic, because how am I supposed to pick between them?!?! so so glad you enjoyed
Also, I do not give a damn about it "outperforming LIS" because BOTH games are going to be so good. It pisses me off lately that people keep trying to pit the two games against each other.
I mean, I do want it to outperform LiS, but only because I feel like Square Enix is being way too greedy with the franchise ($60 for a collector's edition that doesn't even include the game, really?). Since no one else is making games that capture the LiS charm, they can afford to do shit like this. Some good competition would be healthy for the genre and its fans.
I just can't get into Double Exposure, it feels like a soulless milking of a once beloved franchise. Bloom & Rage on the other hand... I can't wait to get my hands on it. I'm just hoping it can run in my old rig.
I never played Life Is Strange, but I found it fun to watch and I wanted it but never bought it. And I don’t know if I ever will, same with Until Dawn and The Quarry, but the way your making out this game I honestly might buy it, and I don’t buy much BIG games a lot because of prices. This one video makes this game out to be cool. I hope this video did the game justice or undersells it because that just means it could be great and/or better.
Honestly you should play it, it’s a lot better to play it than watch it. I’m probably gonna get it soon along with bts in case double exposure flops. Until dawn is also phenomenal and I can’t wait to see the remake. One of my favs in a long time
@@strangewayfaringstrangerYeah i got it for 20 dollars. Worth it. I got LIS2 for 30 dollars and it was also completely worth it. LIS2 costs more because of Daniels complicated AI work as well as clearer graphics.
I'm sooo hyped for this game!!! Life is Strange is so played out, everything just feels the same with no real evolution (except the graphics are a bit better). I'm seriously bummed that Square Enix is trying to overshadow the release of Lost Records, which is literally everything I wanted from a Life is Strange upgrade in so many ways, not just graphics but also story. I really hope this game blows up and gives Dontnod all the credit they deserve.
Life is Strange 1, Life is Strange 2, and Lost Records are the only games I think about the most because they were made by the same people. LIS2’s difference from the first game has proven to me that DontNod isn’t afraid to be bold and different with their games which makes me excited for Lost Records. I was disappointed seeing the comments on Lost Records trailer because they were bringing up Max and Chloe or small town murder mysteries which is annoying. Every single game is supposed to be different and touching to different kinds of people. People asking for the same thing seem stubborn to me.
LOVE THE VIBE ! Reminds me of another upcomming "teen-movie like" game, Mixtape. Give me impressions to hang out with friends I don't have duh... Great video by the way dude ! Keep going !
Sorry for the intrusion, but what criteria must you have for DontNod to let you play? Do they communicate with you or you with them? I have a super fan friend who constantly makes videos about the game (very good by the way) and she hasn't played the demo.
God it looks so GOOD! This seriously only made me more excited (and more bummed that DE made them bump the release back a few months, I don't want DE I WANT THIS)!
thank you! i think playing the game set aside a lot of the worries I had about it - definitely a good decision for them to release footage/gameplay now, so people have a greater idea of what they're getting invested in
I'm really looking forward to this game ! I've missed don't nod's work. I already feel I can fall in love with this game like Life is strange, being one of my favourite game. Deck nine works well, but don't nod has something special in his games.
OMG I can´t wait to play this !!! DontNod just knows how to make this type of games. Thank you so much for your video and the whole information about Lost records! Tbh I have no hope for Double Exposure... I wont be pessimistic or mean but as a huge Life is Strange fan I dont like what DeckNine/SquareEnix made out of this franchise... Double Exposure is not even out yet and you can tell that the vibe is totally different, such a shame and sad how much DeckNine destroyed this masterpiece. The Life is Strange universe had so much potential as you can tell from the games developed by DontNod. Even more I am hyped for Lost Records now.
Thanks for sharing your impressions, this is the best picture of the game I've gotten yet, and I'm really looking forward to it. If I had to make a prediction: it won't outperform Double Exposure, but it'll deserve to. It's usually how things go.
I hope someday dontnod would produce a game based on a band of nerds like we were considered in the late 80s/90s when you were into videogames, sf/horror movies. Including wtf elements to create a whole story just like a south park episode
it looks good, I'm just worried about how the dialogue animation will affect immersion, in life is strange, it wasn't much of an issue because the whole face didn't look real, but with these much higher quality models, the mouths moving like that is kind of in the uncanny valley
it seems like a few people didn't get early access for some reason! i'm really not sure what their criteria was, or how they picked people. they reached out to me a while ago with the offer, and that was that, really! sorry to hear you haven't received anything :(
@@CucuOnGames I did get access to their previous games, must have been overlooked this time around, I dmed them, hopefully I'll get it soon, it just didn't cross my mind as it's soooo early! But anyway, so happy you enjoyed the game, so looking forward to it
I liked this a lot, but I wonder why you chose to use the a theme from Before The Storm: Farewell, which was not a Don't Nod game, but from Deck Nine (Excellent theme btw).
i actually have an answer for this! i use LiS 1 + LiS 2 music a LOT in my videos (i hardly ever use BtS or TC music because many of them are licensed tracks) - the reason I chose to use Farewell's music specifically was because it has a slightly different feel - and since we don't have any of the OST for Bloom & Rage available yet, I thought it'd fit well :)
LIS1 and 2’s OST was composed by Jonathon Morali and I’m hoping the new composer for Lost Records is also as talented! Jonathon Moralis work on LIS2 was my favorite.
@@mashashomee Yeah, he is simply incredible. The outro to LIS2 Episode 1 - the busride and Sean telling the wolf brothers' story - had me in tears the first time I played the game. Hell, who am I kidding. My heart aches every time I hear the piece.
Do you already think it is gonna surpass LIS 3 regarding choices (one of my main problems with the third game), like different endings and flavor text?
probably. DontNod proved themselves to be good with choice systems in LIS1 and LIS2 (DontNods games directed by Michel Koch) and DeckNines games (Before the Storm and True Colors directed by other people) hasn’t been good at choice systems. LIS1 explored morally grey choices and LIS2 explored extreme consequences in the end (you get 4 insanely different endings). In BTS all choices leading up to the ending make absolutely no different and True Colors they were barely interesting or impactful.
Man i really hope they don’t ruin max in the new game because so far it seems like a cash grab with all the in game ads and stuff at least if it is i have this great looking game to fall back on
I just know something is going to be getting my attention on the camcorder and I'll miss something else going on just off-screen. The camcorder idea is really nice though. I can see the devs are very passionate about how much flexibility it has and how it can influence the game. My biggest concern about Bloom and Rage at the moment is that I will feel "rushed" by different characters trying to do different things and not being able to do or capture everything. As someone who likes to thoroughly explore, I worry that elements of the game will work against my laid back approach.
I have to disagree i was born in 1990 and got the full experience of the 90s as a 90s kid nothing can compare to the 2000 as technology grew the warm summer experience isn't the same 😢 y2k 911 and down sizing companies change the family organization. There's no compare.
I think visually, this game has its own identity, which could work in its favor. However, overall as someone who has played all 3 Life is Strange games and loved them to pieces, I'm not too excited for this game. I wasn't a big fan of Tell Me Why or Twin Mirror, and it feels like Don't Nods' spiritual successors will never reach the peaks of Life is Strange 1 & 2. That's not to say that Life is Strange is going nowhere, on the contrary, what I've seen of Double Exposure has gotten me excited, but this project has many writing and character tropes, as well as a blatant copy of the plot of Stephen King's IT. Both feature a cast of childhood friends who bond over a shared traumatic paranormal experience and come back 27 years later to confront it. It's such a niche and specific plot that I'm almost baffled that they decided on it. It's like one of the writer's read IT and just decided that's what the game is gonna be.
but Tell Me Why and Twin Mirror was not made by the same people.(and Tell Me Why was really good imo). The creators of LiS 1 & 2 are behind Lost Records. You're talking about the plot, but you know nothing about it. Same for the characters. Yes the "27 years "jump is a "IT" reference. Actually the game director said that "IT","TwinPeaks","The Craft" are some of the inspirations.I can add "Stand by Me" also. And many more.Every story is a mix of different inspirations.(hey the first Life is Strange is just "The Butterfly Effect" after all :p ).It's how you tell a story that will make the difference, how are the characters and their developements and what you really want to tell about the story.(different topics etc). Lost Records, and his very new and innovative dialogue system- ,looks incredibly interesting. i am really skeptical about the next LiS (but i will play it) on the other hand, because i still not understand why Max is doing the same mistake (using her power again to save a friend) after the first game. It's doesn't really make sense to me.She didn't learn, did she?
@@seb_buldo All of these games were made by Dontnod Entertainment, and Twin Mirror was coproduced with Shibuya Productions. Regardless, they made Life is Strange 1 & 2, as well as their worse games, Tell Me Why and Twin Mirror. I don't care if it's the same people who worked on Life is Strange. That would only matter to me if this were a Life is Strange title, which it isn't, and even then, third party studios like Deck Nine have already proven capable at writing for the Life is Strange series. However, I worry that with new IPs like this one, they will take some of the same creative missteps which plagued their previous work.
@@prodtetchDon't Nod is a studio. They have different teams.(and more than 300 people actually ).Twin Mirror and Tell Me Why was not made by thecreators of LiS 1&2. (and i disagree,Tell Me Why was great ! Twin Mirror was average ). Lost Records is the new game- actually their new IP also- from the creatives minds behind Life is Strange.this is their new project after developing Life is Strange 2.It's developed in the new Don't Nod studio in Montreal .
Tell me Why and Twin Mirror were not directed by Michel Koch. Michel Koch has only directed Life is Strange 1 and Life is Strange 2, and he is returning for Lost Records. just because they are from the same company doesn’t mean they’re the same at all. In companies there are often entirely different teams, they’re just funded by the same people.
@mashashomee Regardless, my point about writing tropes and the direction of the story still stands. I'm cautiously optimistic about this one. I'll be playing LiS Double Exposure day one, but this is a new IP and has to really hit it out of the park to gain my interest, and the interest of a broader audience.
I know everyone has their love affair with Max but I'm disappointed they pushed a new up that looks really interesting that I'm pretty excited for to try and cash grab life is strange ...
I’m truly excited for this given it’s a Don’t Nod game and so far the media that’s been out for this game looks very promising! Also I just love the aesthetic 🤍😍
@@livininmyUtopia I also thought it's not possible. But technically, it is. Maybe a premature birth and early summer. I am very, very skinny and til the 7th month, my baby belly was small. But of course, it could be complete nonsense 😀

Lost Records looks kind of dated next to the next Life is Strange. The latter has such nuance in terms of facial animations, everything seems motion captured, which adds so much to a story heavy game.
i disagre,i think Lost Records really looks amazing ! the expressions-even if it's still an alpha version- are really well done and so are the characters.
i dunno, camcorder sounds like a chore to me. I liked LiS because of its focus on the story, not gameplay. I maybe like 1% of the voice when I say, gameplay doesn't need to improve at all, story does
Why always girls, only LiS 2 had boy protagonists and OK captain spirit (but that not really counts), its very unanimous like this… at least give is finnaly more playable characters
