I remember that whenever someone was asked to name a mouse icon for osu!, "FunOrange" would definitely be on their list. At least I can say that for myself. I remember you from your first Airman video! One of the biggest inspiration for me even tho I wasn't really a mouse player, but i always admired those who were ;) Also good job on developing these helpful programs for the game, they are surely will create a lot of upcoming legends 💪
you were a huge inspiration to me first starting osu, and you are the reason i committed to mouse despite the leaderboards being filled with tablet players. i probably wouldn't be playing osu at all if i didn't see your videos in my recommended. i wish you the best in everything you do ily funorange o7
lmao its actually funny how funorange was inspired to commit to mouse cause of other cracked players then became cracked themselves and then also inspired more mouse players, its a beautiful cycle
Rewatching this video after a year because FunOrange had such an impact on me, I still remember him. I stopped playing after FunOrange's Osu career started to fade. It was a fun time, looking at my idols and all, I kind of still am searching for new idols and communities to follow, just like Osu. I wonder what kind of person I will become. I miss everyone that has been throughout my journey, including FunOrange.
one of my biggest inspirations. i got a wireless mouse, 60% kb, played 4:3 cause of you. im 7 years in now but i still cant compare. i even used your skins for years since they are hidden friendly. thanks for everything so far bro
Whenever I see or hear Airman my brain immediately goes to your 1x100 HD play all these years later. Happy to still be a part of this amazing community
I started playing in 2011 along with Chewin (some people may still remember him for getting a 1x miss airman choke back in 2011), hit around #60 at ppv1 peak and #200 ppv2 peak and I see myself so much in the points you made that motivated you to keep playing. Seeing my name pop up on bancho at 0:54 sent me on a trip down memory lane. I too was a mouse player who was inspired by SiLviA in 2012, he got me into alternating as well before it was cool... Like I'd get dms from people asking me how I alternate. Idk I just do lol. You were on point with the clout thing, I was a friendless quiet kid in high school and the thought of reaching some sort of osu! stardom filled my mind with absurdly high levels of dopamine. I had a ton of time and nothing else to do besides school, I'd spend all day thinking about playing osu. I'm 25 now and really wish I could get back into the game (I can finally afford a decent pc!) but there's no time or motivation for it anymore, and just like you, the thought of being unable to reach the level of today's top players no matter what I do (even if I had infinite time, I wouldn't have the drive I had back then) demotivates me from trying. The only thing I regret (although it was out of my control) was not being able to afford a half decent setup that could have propelled me much higher up in the rankings at the time. You were a great inspiration for me back then :) didn't know we related so much in our experiences and motivations. Cheers, Jordan
Also started playing in 2012, crazy how time flies. Your were a huge inspiration for me alongside other top canadian players back in the day! Thank you for playing haha
not sure if you’ll read this but you’re such a huge inspiration to me and you were the reason I started osu and why I still play with a mouse today. even you don’t play or upload much anymore you’ll still be my favorite player in my heart 💙
thank you for being such a huge impact and motivation through 2015-2020 for me. i idolized you, waited for a video to come out and watch it instantly. i hope your life continues to give you great and fun adventures :)
The two videos that really stuck to me from you was your seashore on the moon and rawstyle bomb plays and that actually kept me going even after my friend who introduced me to osu stopped playing
been watching your videos since you started making them. you and azer have been by far my biggest inspirations to get better at this game over the years. i've been through a lot of shit - grown a lot, been through relationships, gotten through school... and i still find myself coming back to your channel 8 or however many years later for inspiration. you, azer, and azr8 have been the thelewas of my 8 or so years playing this game. i never had the motivation that is required to get to the top, but i wouldn't have had any interest in the game had i not been obsessed with yalls plays back in the day. your description of how you eventually just lost interest in osu and video games in general really hit home as a 22 year old. good luck out there man. i hope you find similar success in whatever goals you decide to work towards in the future ❤
Dude I'm happy u are finally back on youtube. You were my inspiration when I played mouse and when I started playing Osu! You were the main reason I started the Osu! grind after seeing your video "Getting number 1 on my favourite map"
I remember the first videos that I watched about osu was Cookiezi's High Score FC and your Candyland video. Thank you for being a huge inspiration, and good luck with your future plans!
thank you funorange for talking about osu!trainer!! i still think it's the absolute best way to improve at the game (along with playing more and having a good mindset)
As someone that also plays almost 11 years now, things that you’ve said are very relatable to me too. I still remember that FunOrange skin that are modified version of Tom94 with Kirby on it and it became my favorite skin back in 2015. You also kinda introduce me with the really good gaming mice and mousepads that available on the market. Good luck on you current life!
You're 8 star unravel video was the first ever osu video I saw and it was infinitely more impressive than anything else other osu players were doing. I was just so impressed at how you could process all the things that were happening on screen as they were changing so quickly. I decided that I wanted to do that but was intimidated. I watched more of your videos and other osu players and started playing at the start of 2022. Thanks for the inspiration and I wish you good luck on your future endeavors. =)
ayo bro same- I was watching tokyo ghoul in mid 2021 and i came across the unravel vid, been at osu since. I've been watching fun orange for a year now and as a mouse player myself, he's one of the biggest inspirations...
Your score on some insanely technical maps where so inspirational for me as a mouse player because besides Andros you gave me the motivation that you can reach highs very few people can even if you're playing in a style not many top players play in. Thank you for the video, I hope you are enjoying your job and life, take care.
The airman video with the coolermaster keyboard that had one red and one blue keycap is the reason I started playing. Thank you for all the content throughout the years love you bro hope you continue to do well in whatever you do!
Fantastic video from start to finish. I also relate with the mentality of being done with videogames. Nowadays I don't play as much as I used to, due to my job, and because of other interest. Whatever you'll do from now on, best of luck!
Brooo I have grown up with you weirdly enough. Finishing my last uni semester this December with a Bachelors in software engineering. I remember so many random videos on this channel like cooking ramen and your first (java?) game you uploaded a demo of back then. Good shit man glad to see you killing it. Also, RIP thelewa forever a legend.
it was fun seeing you around in the community and leaderboards for all these years.. im also approaching my 10 year soon ahaha good luck on what's to come, im sure you'll do great :)
Ever since I started playing osu! two years ago, your videos where you play alt or tech maps have always inspired me to get good at those skillsets. Now I'm almost a 4 digit, which is much further than I ever thought I'd get in this game. Thanks for the motivation! I'm glad you're doing well.
Wow, what a journey it’s been. The ending was really interesting. I started playing a few years ago and your part of the reason. My favourite time was around last year when you were really active. I hope my journey will be as interesting as yours and Continue playing for years on end. I’m In highschool just like you were but the difference is I’m not playing as much. Idk what else to say but have fun and “see you next time” cuz there will always be a next time. Quitting osu is not possible. We always come back. So do me a favour, make another video in 10 more years maybe not about osu but about life and in 10 years I’ll be close to this video now (in my osu journey)
Your galaxy collapse video was the first ever osu video I watched and from then I have been playing it trying to improve. Huge inspiration to me. I am happy you are doing well and wish you the bust of luck with life! Also fun fact we live in the same town and I only found that out like last week.
i started osu thanks to you life goes on and a lot of things change i hope youre finding your hapiness youre a big inspiration to me thats why i play mouse but you are not only a big inspiration in osu xD i wish you the best for the future
Man, I wish I got into osu earlier when I was back in highschool but I still enjoy the game now even tho my motivation is slowly dying but thanks for everything you've done for the community ❤
Damn man I only joined in 2018 but seeing how much you played back then it throws me back hard, I was the same, it's all I wanted to play the dopamine rush you got from the game was incredible in the early days but now it's hard to find motivation because of adulthood but it's still great. Also your tools are amazing thank you for all your work!
I'm just gonna chime in and say that you are my main inspiration for mouse (and being a tech player wannabe 😭). I will never forget how insane your uploads of candyyyland and seashore were to me back in highschool when I started, and I'm glad you've moved on to the better things in your life. Gl from now on o7
Epic video! Always super fun to hear about how sick players found the game and what they were a part of in the community. Looks like a good trip! P.S: Love the mention of SiLviA and his other endeveours into kei truck racing, the clip of him saving a crash on his channel is absolutely hilarious
Hey FunOrange, I just wanted to thank you for what you've done over the years. I played back in 2012-2013 a little bit myself but stopped rather soon to hop onto other games. Your video/play on Seashore on the moon was the reason I came back to osu and is one of the reasons why I'm still playing. Also loving osu-trainer ever since you've released it. I hope you're doing good in life and that you will reach the goals you've set for yourself! Thank you again.
Dude, I remember watching your unravel but its an 8* map video few months ago when i was 7 digit and i was absolutely flabbergasted that someone with a mouse just like me could set scores this crazy. You are my motivation for sticking with mouse. You were an important part of the community and I'll miss you man
definitely one of my biggest inspirations for improvement as a mouse player and tech map enjoyer, ill never forget the time you raided me when i was streaming minecraft school rp and forgot to change my game category from osu lmao insane video, love to see it
I first played osu in 2016 but never really played again or got into it until the middle of 2020. I have friends who actively still play osu and told me back then that if I really wanted to be better at the game that I had to buy a tablet, even if it's a cheap one. But then I get your videos in my recommended and I watched how well you play using mouse. And so your videos inspired me to continue playing osu using a mouse and in under 1 year (at the time) I caught up to the level my friends regularly played at which is around 5-6 stars, which isn't really that high I guess but it was fun lol. I also got probably the best mice I've used so far through watching your 3D printed mouse vid. TL;DR: thanks for the really entertaining videos and streams. It gave me a really fun time playing osu.
I've been playing osu! since 2017. While that isn't a big milestone compared to the additional 5 years that you have compared to me, you were definitely the player that inspired me to pick up the game after I saw it from another youtuber. When I first started, I was in awe at the fact that playing mouse has potential after watching your "Seashore by the Moon" video during class back in high school and although I don't play with mouse as much anymore (I switched to tablet around 2020), part of the reason why I sometimes still play with both methods is because I think back to your videos and how amazing they demonstrate the potential of mouse. (Also, it's still fun to me in a way). Even though to some now, you aren't the "best" player by modern osu! standards, I still think you are a fantastic player and to me, you will always be my favourite player in this entire game. I wish you the best of luck in everything you do FunOrange!
cool vid, sat through all of it i relate a bit on the motivation stuff and the filipino stuff but minus the talent and smarts and me only starting circle game at around 2021 life happens also thanks for inspiring vaxei to use your skin
Your candyyyland video was what made me register my account. Thank you for all of the content over the years. You inspired me to be a mouse player (for like the first 6 months lol), but fr gl on all your future endeavors and whatever you do with your life, and maybe upload like 1 more vid so you can hit 100k lmao?
Second year into osu, the first month into osu! i was tempting to get a tablet, until i came across one of your videos, i saw how good you are and then decided i would just commit to mouse. Thank you.
Great video, I'm glad you put this much effort into it. I could relate to most of your osu! journey. You've always been an inspiration, especially when it came to my own HD airman fc many years ago. You're a legend, here to stay in the mind of many. Best of luck with your new ambitions ♥ Until you return to attempt top100 again, I'll be waiting :D
you were an inspiration to me as well for playing mouse (despite playing tablet and switching back and forth) but you rsally showed me that u can be good with a mouse
Clicked the video out of curiosity. The moment I see that smile 2:36, I clicked the like button. Although I'm by no mean a good osu! player, I can relate to loving to play a game for years and still enjoy it. Great video! No matter the time has passed, I hope you will be enjoying the game like you used to. Much love
FunOrange is so wholesome in the Community that he still makes me enjoy the game even though I can never beat my top score ever again. Happy 10th Anniversary on osu!. Also Silvia is most definitely a Drifter by far just by his name and the Drifting JDM car.
The moment thelewa was mentioned hit me like a truck. I joined quite a bit later (2015, I think?), but I was still just... not ready. Masterful video, by the way. Kinda explains why I never got out of 6 digits. I never had time, I saw more potential elsewhere, and I'm not a Filipino. All I had was just... enjoying the game when I had the chance to play it. But judging by the video, maybe that's how it was meant to be. Not everyone's cut out to be a top player. I'm glad a person like you managed to become one. Cheers to the 10 years. Here's to many more.
The update on silvia was perfect 😆. It's good to see mouse players still active. You got your clout that you wanted. Part of the greatness of osu! is the community, so it's good to have contributions of all types. College made me take a break, got a job etc. Life gets busy
Funny that you mention the whole apocalypse shebang of 2012, cause I literally started playing on that very day, the 21st of December 2012. Got a 10 year osu anniversary of continuous activity coming up myself.
you were my biggest inspiration to play with mouse and yes back then in 2013(i dont have youtube account lol) wubwoofwolf, doomsday and you were my best trio to looking forward for osu gameplay
You're the best mouse player, in my heart at least, even if I dont play osu! a lot anymore, for the little time I played it, you were my inspiration. Much love to you and to everyone down there in the comments !
I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen a video make so much sense. I mean it’s pretty clean cut. I’ve never been consistent and osu even now. And I’ve only been playing since 2017. The thought of even reaching top 1,000 is crazy to me and I’m a junior right now. I imagine I’ll feel the same way you do once I get into college. And especially once I graduate from there.
Thanks for everything funorange!!! You inspired many of us including me as a mouse player myself! Glad that you found some things that keep you up and provide true happiness! Keep up the good work man
Just like you, I also was looking up a song when I found out about osu. I watched a few videos on it in the 2012-2013 era, but didn't make an account or play the game then. A few years later, I re-discover the game again - notably, your channel, but don't do much about it, in 2015. Your aim with a mouse made me incredibly jealous, and I racked up a few plays, but ultimately quit within a month. Fast forward to 2019, I suddenly find myself bored of everything, and with a lot of free time - and after three years of on and off playing, I am super close to scraping my way into the 5 digit realm! As much as we both know it, things can get boring, and you might "abandon" something, but eventually you will find yourself with some free time, nothing better to do, and boot up an old game for fun. Thanks for being my thelewa/SiLviA all these years, and likely serving as an inspiration to many other mouse players.
i remember being a high schooler and dreaming about playing on the OWC Canada team with you & Azer. seeing you stop playing osu because you thought it was a "waste of time"... i was heartbroken, and eventually went on to playing other games (but still keeping up with osu on the side). i don't blame you for being a kid and saying things you don't believe anymore. especially not since i didn't know you pivoted into making it into UofT, Waterloo and Mac though??? i'm very happy to see that even though you did this, it ended up being worth something, and you ultimately didn't regret your time on osu. good luck with whatever you set your mind to. i'll still be quietly cheering you on from the sidelines.
Wtf didn't realize you improved this fast?! Also very good video, especially the end. I also don't have a lot of time for osu! (4th year CPE student) and I play osu! For an hour every couple of days, I have plans in 2023 to play everyday for an hour or two just to improve for a last time before quiting because I know for a fact that I will just stop playing slowly once a get a job or something. But honestly, I'm not that content with this lol, I was I can go back to when I was 15 and free to play as much as I wanted. But at the same time I'm happy right now, so quitting would be fine too
I remember when i get into osu in 2018 seeing videos from u like the candyland one, u got me in this game for 4 years(almost 5), you were my inspiration to keep playing mouse, i still remember when we play fortnite like 2 year ago( with eml i think) and we win wjdbwbdjqbd victory royal a!!!111, and you ask me on disc what eat chilean people and i said beans and choripan asjjsjwdjjwdn, well, congratz for now living a normal and joyfull life, peace !!!.
Only real ogs remember no pain no game live play. Dang man that quick fire tk with the blue switches and the Logitech g400 with the steel series mousepad really brings me back, I remember I bought them and used them for about 2 years. You were a huge inspiration to me when I was new to the game, still use mouse to this day!
Thats beautiful. I've been playing osu for 2,5 years now, and I can say that I'm a really good tech player, but I don't have the motivation to play. But this video gave me so much motivation, and now all I want to do is to play osu. Thank you FunOrange.
Just want to say i recently decided to use my twitch prime to gain acces to osu collector and man what a thing that's insane i rediscover osu with this so much fun every session thx so much !!!
its mildly offtopic from the main point of the video, but thelewa askfm was an unironically formative experience for me (too) in 2013-2015. i share the experience 1:1 even down to learning about mechanical keyboards and buying one because of him. except i bought the one he used instead. its probably a couple tiers down the iceberg by now so made me happy to hear someone share the specific experience. and congratulations on your own journey with the game, definitely made your mark on the community.
Omfg you're filipino 😭😭. I'm not a dedicated player I just play osu to make my brain hyoer before working (be it an assignment) and I jist like rhythm games in general. I particularly like tech maps becuase I love future bass and other hyper sounding edm. I started watching you becuase of your satisfying cursor movement and skill in tech maps. I started playing in 2016 but stopped for a few years coming back every 2 yrs when I remember I have osu. This video is really nice and I feel inspired to be better. I'm a 6 digit that keeps getting slider breaks but can decently jump and stream, I cant FC a map, I generally just love playing casually lol.
RIP Lewa 😭 he will be greatly missed but always remembered as a kind and funny dude who truly was one of if not THE best accuracy player of his time, rest well space cowboy
