If this was MLB licensed it’d be so amazing (if RBI and these people joined forces, for instance). The Show for sim, and this to have an arcade-type chill good time. One can dream.
That would be amazing, I keep wishing it would happen. I prefer the arcade experience. And if that's what RBI was supposed to be...maybe just drop RBI like it's hot and give these folks a license to use MLB IP.
Interesting If RBI developers and Super Mega Baseball developers joined forces to make a modern game, I think you’d get a game that might look a lot like that game “the bigs”.
This is one of my fav baseball games I have played. Its really good once you get used to the mechanics, and get into franchise mode. Also, the customization and logo creation is really deep too.
As a fan of the game series, this is probably one of the best Baseball games out there and is undisputedly the best baseball game available on X-Box (until The Show gets on it). It takes a few games to get the hang of it, but the gameplay is pretty smooth overall, the lack of an indicator for fly balls is a bit annoying, but after a few games, you get used to it and get better. It's arcade-y, but has decent depth. The best part of the gameplay is the EGO settings because you can set it to whatever your skill level is and get genuinely hard games. I'm playing against the AI at like 70 and I can handle it. Plus the customization in the game is pretty great overall and you can easily make your own league.
This is an EXCELLENT Game once you start getting the ego much higher and start with the franchise which can be customized to no end from how many teams, to games, etc...
If you ever have a chance to play MLB Power Pros 2008 that was on PS2, that game was REALLY fun to play. It had MLB players and the batting stances were crazy accurate for every single player. Even people like J.J. Hardy was done so perfectly. And they also had an RPG mode that was actually challenging. You had to balance school, work, a love life, all while trying to make it to the majors. If that last part doesn't interest you, it is a great game regardless.
I have a feeling this is the “guilty pleasure”game for some players who already have “mlb the show” but want to take a break from it once in a while. If “MLB the show” never existed and this was the only game, baseball gaming fans would be complaining (cartoon players, no official licensed teams or players, etc). I’ve tried this game but the lack of realism and mlb players and teams made it difficult to enjoy. Hopefully “the show” shows up on pc next year.
Great video. I love this game - it’s so addictive. I’ve even been playing it on my phone to get my hit when I’m out and about (and even posted a recent video of the touchscreen controls). Amazing that you can play Super Mega Baseball 3 on your phone nowadays. I love technology
I feel like the field details actually look better than the Show. Has anyone noticed that the details on the Show for stuff like dirt and grass have gotten worse since 2013? The jersey fabric looks less and less like an actual jersey every year as well on the Show.
I actually play and love this game. There is a pretty easy mod to get the current MLB roster into the game. The trick to the fly ball fielding is that when your player raises his hands to "call" the ball, you are pretty close and if you let the stick go it will automatically hone in on where the ball will land. The difficulty settings are great too because you can tune them differently for pitching and hitting so you can tune it to your strengths to where it is always a challenge.
Even if you can get mlb rosters into the game, I can’t imagine what the player faces would look like. I’m assuming it’d be hard to make an accurate cartoon like representation of either a mookie betts, Justin verlander, or Fernando Tatis.
When I only had an X-box I would play Super mega baseball 2 and it was actually a ton of fun. More of an arcade style gameplay but I really enjoyed playing online.
not sure if you'd play this again but if you do try upping your ego (difficulty) to 99. legit impossible. id love to 1v1. I know the movement on this game very well and it would make a hilarious video
You hit the ball bad with sirloins because you were using contact swing, and they are power hitters. Bee wolves are contact hitters and you used contact swing. I forget what button it is but if you hold it and time it right (number close to 100) then you will get ahold of half the strikes in the zone
Your awesome and you probably like slugfest 2004 and 2006 you could hit players if the players are on fire and you hit them they will beat you up or you can beat them and they will lose stats
you need a ball indicator for the outfield because you're a noob? Imagine playing this game for 3 years then finally playing MLB 21 on xbox for the first time trying to hit a 94mph slider, it's been a month and I still swing like I have 5 foot arms.. Super Mega League does slap and goes underappreciated.
SMB series has always been fun and surprisingly solid mechanically (the art style can be misleading, its a pretty solid baseball game behind the cartooney looks). MLB is still the king for more realsitic presentation etc though. RBI remains utter shite. And MLBs on XBox this year so they dont even have that 'were the only official MLB licenced game on Xbox' crutch now, Maybe theyll finally actually up their game and make something good? I miss when we had the 2K series as well, competition kept both games having to try and actually improve, much as I love TheShow its still more or less the same game at heart it has been for years with minor improvements. If you dont have any real competion theres no reason to really innovate, just roll out a seasonal update with current rosters and uniforms etc and it will sell.... see Madden, Fifa, NHL.... not saying those games suck as I love NHL 21 personally but the reason they dont change much year to year is theyve all monopolised their respecitve sports, and thats bad for innovation all round.
As for now it’s all we got for Xbox it’s a very fun game, very competitive in the pendant race online. The Show will be here soon so I’ll definitely be on there and will miss SMB3.
