A little funny easter egg, I found after years of playing to this game : you can commit suicide. If you activate a cutscene where Willmore is on screen, like for exemple, the tape cut scene, take your gun, and shoot on him, you got a sudden game over and a suicide letter from Willmore. I found 3 different suicide letter, i don't know if there is more.
@@Thundera2908 But this, litterally everyone tried it once they got the gun, let's be honest. But the suicidal thing, I think no one tried it. Probably because it was a détail no one thought about, except the developpers.

You should review the two Star Trek TNG FMV games sometime. They were filmed using all the same sets and crew and such as the main show, just without the main cast. The Borg one is even pretty good as a Q story.

Do you remember what you missed doing? I used a guide so I never really got stuck but I wouldn't have figured out his password without it. I was like 12 and had no patience.
The only thing I remember the camera being used for was taking a picture of a licence plate at the dock. But if you want a quick death try taking a picture of Mr. X.
Yes there's no information as to how but he came across as lovely, I requested him as a friend on Facebook & he added me, even replied to my message. He made time for the Wilmore fans, it's so sad.

@@mustangmckraken1150 no I agree with you but they are usually not great. I think shadow gate is okay and uninvited is fine. Clock tower is fun and I like princess tomato and the salad kingdom but this xfiles one has way too much pixel hunting in empty rooms. I'd prefer Saturn discworld or even blazing dragoons to the xfiles game. I bought this game almost 15 years after originally playing and I still hate it all this time but I wish I didn't :(

I'd write it as See-beh-lee-us roughly but it kinda can't be written properly in English phonology since the long e sound doesn't exist in English. I think the best approximation would probably be to pronounce "See-bay-lee-us" in a northern English ("oop narth") or Geordie accent.
i'm fascinated by the prospect of them filming a bunch of people saying "what's the matter with you?" like how many scenes of that did they have to do. would the same actors have to do multiple cuts of that for different settings? i love it

I've got a point and click game that was made for you, Roses! It's called Murder, She Wrote. It is exactly what it sounds like. I think the most surprising thing about it is that it came out in 2009. Who was asking for a Murder, She Wrote video game in 2009? Besides me, of course, I was going through a hard M,SW phase.
I always liked messing with the motel clerk by ringing the bell on the counter. *DING* "Please don't do that. Do you have any idea how many people ring the bell when I'm sitting right here?" "No." "Well, you're not the first!" [5 seconds later] *DING* "What are you, a child? I said don't do that!" 😂
This brings back memories of my friend and I playing this on the PS1 as children. I’m also glad to see we weren’t the only ones frustrated by the pixel hunting of finding that bullet. Took us forever.
Also, good to see a game review :) Murder mystery TV series are neat, but I discovered Roses before she went on her first tangent on the golden Girls, a bit of nostalgia gets a long way!
This brings me back. I had this game when it was first released, and was a huge X-Phile growing up. Would love to see more of your thoughts about the series and various tie-ins/other media if you decide to continue with these videos.
I would actually really love to see your take on the X-Files spin-off The Lone Gunmen. It's just so bonkers, and was cheesily enjoyable. Plus it would be great to see your reactions to the "high tech" stuff they used in their shenanigans

This looks like a decently implemented version of a licensed Tex Murphy style game. I miss the days when a dev studio could devote the time and budget to an adventure game. What a treat to get a classic adventure game review from PUR on Halloween!
I feel you would relay love "Shapeshifting Detective" It is a modern FMV mystery game. The twist is you can shapeshift, enabling you to interview suspects as the other characters. It is a lot of fun.
@@pushinguproses This is true, though they removed the ability to type out searches in your PCs. I think it was a dropdown menu in the Playstation version, which was no fun. There are a couple of other changes, but nothing horrible. Using a super sensitive d-pad instead of a mouse for your pointer is a pain in the neck, though.
@@lunayoshi I believe there is an auto find mechanic for players who are just in it for the X-Files story... or people who don't want to deal with pixel hunting bullsh**. Maybe both
Unfortunately, this is one of those PSOne games that doesn't play nice with later hardware. Both the PS2 and PS3 have their own graphical glitches when you try to play it. You definitely need an original PlayStation to play it.
I grew up with this game on ps1 and I purposefully sought it out as an adult with interest in adventure games. And I cannot beat it without hints. I dont just mean the PDA stuff but even clues you find are just hidden so that i searched for HOURS. I wanted to love this. Really
I would actually be interested in playing a game where the X-files and SCP foundation are having back and forth of the two groups trying to understand weird stuff.
Apparently there's also some slight variations in scenes depending on what mood you pick for Wilmore. If you consistently pick "paranoid" responses, he'll start seeing corpses twitch, etc. I haven't actually made it that far into the game myself (never read the manual 😅) so I can't confirm it, but it sounds like there is pretty good replay value!
I like how your relation to Astadourian is really relative. If you act like a complete douche to her the first time you meet you will have a tense and cold relation the rest of the game. Otherwise she'll be more friendly.
I have two suggestions, both the first two games from a 5 game series- Dracula: Resurrection and Dracula 2: The Last Sanctuary. They're both first-person adventure games with some of the most bizarre cutscenes I have ever seen.
After watching almost every season back to back and watching the movies in chronological order with the TV series it was AMAZING. I heard about this game and was sad I couldn't find it being a major fan and all. Me being a gay man, I very much love Scully though~

I remember my sister getting this game years ago, and her spending hours trying to get every ending. This was such a ridiculously in-depth game, and she had to look up walktbroughs for most of them.

Thank you for talking about this game. I played it on PlayStation probably around the year 2000 and even had friends over to help. A whole flood of memories just came back to me including getting stuck on one of the warehouse sections and going down the street to a phone box to call the helpline. They were not very helpful! Also if you wanted to discuss Return to Zork then I'm here for it!

i had this game since i was a kid and it took me like 20 years to realize you were meant to send your progress notes to people (and possibly even leak them to that writer that emails you at the start of the game)

Wow this really brings back the memories. I would love to play this game again. (without the endless CD swapping) Played the game in the dark in the middle of the night. (strongly suggest playing this game that way) When confronted by Mr. X the hair on my arm and neck literally stood on end. That was probably the scariest part of the game for me. That guy was friggin intense! Thanks for the fun flashback!
