For me the best thing about T2 was that it was an ARPG that was focused on offline single player experience & with that comes the ease of play & customizing your experience your way. MMO feels like a office work to me , constant update, keeping up with the community, keeping up with the gameplay changes, restrictions, downtimes.... Well, but it seems I am in the minority here. Most of the people are excited about this new MMO aspect & shared world experience.

Fevir, you made my day. This is the best gaming news I've heard in the past two years or more.

I'm excited for this, I've always loved the look and feel of Torchlight, it always just felt nice to me. I remember in both the first Torchlight and Torchlight 2 I'd always spend hours fishing just for those funny little pet transformations.

This looks interesting. I finished the 1st game way back and enjoyed it quite a bit so yeah I'd like to see more of this.

Glad you enjoyed the game, as I agree Torchlight is one of the better loot series in gaming. An was easy to see the care and love they put in Torchlight 2.

After my experience with Darkspore, I hate always online with a passion, especially when it could be easily avoided. The thing about always online, is that it basically puts an expiration date on the game, but no one knows what that date is. Depending on how things go, it could be a year or a couple decades, but ultimately, service will most likely be discontinued (without offline replacement, because that would require additional work and as such funding) and as such will become unavailable, which is a problem.

I absolutely LOVE the Torchlight universe, so I'm very happy to have another chance to visit. Same thing with Hob!

I gotta say, I'm quite looking forward to this. I've always been fond of the Torchlight series, but it's never been able to hold me down long enough to get through the whole game before. Bringing in regular content updates, account-wide progression, and the illusion of a shared world (which really breathes life into a game even when you're rigidly antisocial like I am) might just be enough. As an added bonus, it's different enough not to compete too much with PoE, which is great for both games. The one thing I'd really like to see is the devs harnessing the creative energy already flowing in the community, and allowing them to have a hand in content creation. Passionate fans are a criminally underutilized resource in game development, but particularly in "MMO style games", for lack of a better term.

I am so excited, the gamefeel of Torchlight is great and this one does look like in the same line.

Just played some TL2 after a few months, I'm psyched for this one!

I love the sound of this all characters in one idea. My biggest prob in wow currently is i want to try another class but it will take me 110 to be relevant and fun. Also i cant wait to see what the other classes will be.

I think you just said my girlfriend's three favorite words regarding video games, "whimsy, color, and fun." The older I get, the more I agree with her. And I'm really, really tired of sepia colored games that feel so cold and sterile. My girlfriend may not be a hardcore gamer, but she does remind me that games are supposed to be fun and beautiful.

TORCHLIGHT AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Torch 2 was an incredible ride. I started my run hardcore and didn't look anything up- that game is so dear to me.

lol, no offline mode. they do the same pattern as diablo - first was good but raw/simple, second was polished and better than first, then with third make it dumbed down player milking machine for masses. I'm expecting Torchlight 4 to be mobile for asian markets.

I am not a big fan of the previous installments but I have to admit that we might be onto something here. I used to play a lot of Blade and Sword, Sacred and Sacred 2, Diablo and Diablo 2 and I tried Torchlight but quickly put it off, than the second Torchlight came out but it didn't do anything for me. This looks different. There is more thought behind this one and more bells and whistles are implemented which is deffinitely giving it enough zesty tasty smell for me to give it a play. Fevir is definitely a bit of a snake oil salesman with his talent to enchant us with words and wisdom and that is why I love the channel. Thank you for another great episode

I would rather have a new single player Torchlight that is a solid experience for single or co-op play. The reason Path of Exile continues to shit on Diablo is a very simple one that will be very hard for other companies to compete with: frequency of updates. Every 3 months PoE gives us something new and exciting to do with the league system and roughly every other league we get a major expansion. Hell, the past three leagues (Delve, Incursion and Beastiary) have been about as big as major expansions although Beastiary did not become part of the main game while Incursion and Delve will be implemented in the main game after Delve League ends. Torchlight Frontiers is going to need to make up for lacking mods with a LOT of new content frequently.

getting back into TL2 just in anticipation of this game. I was a massive fan of it, I perfected each class and spent countless hours exploring and discovering easter eggs and such. I can barely wait for Frontiers! It looks promising :)

I totally agree with what you said about wizards "light and darkness instead of fire and ice" i never understood why the always went for that.

As an old intense Marvel Heroes player, those open player areas really made the game. Can't wait for this.

I played the Torchlight Games last year and holy crap it's probably my favorite ARPG series too (or at least in the Diablo Style Top Down genre) and this game looks promising. I'll be keeping my eye on it to see if I want it. If it is free I'll definitely give it a shot (it probably won't so that's why I will keep a close eye one it, depending on the price.)

I'm genuinely looking forward to this game. I agree 100% though it'd be wonderful if they could put it on Switch. I think the online always aspect will make them hesitate to do so but I don't mind being tethered to my house/wifi to play it on that system.

Thank you for the vid ! Just wondering about the difficulty since its "always online mmo".. I for one enjoy the possibility of ramping up difficulty for a challenge. By challenge i dont mean permadeath but difficulty increase. In TL1 & 2 I set the difficulty at highest from the get go and that made the game enjoyable for me. Am I able to do this in frontiers ? The reason I enjoyed TL2 instead of D3 was pretty much the fact that from the creation of my character I felt challenge in the game. In Diablo 3 however I had to first spend 50-200(ish)hours mundane easymode, atleast i felt like it, to get my character in certain spot to even feel there is even some challenge. Needless to say I got bored wery quickly. Next matter which comes to my mind is the amount of active abilities one can have at any given time. I really hope one can change ui and include more abilities than 6 + potion(s) . Torchlight 2 had 10-12 ? Combined with good difficulty level from the get go with the possibility to have plenty of different active abilities at once made me like TL1 and TL2 in the first place. I hope they dont bastardice the way people choose to play this game by forcing everyone in the same mold, to the same difficulty, in the name of accessability.

I just got back into Torchlight II after my BF suggested we think of some 2-player games to play. He absolutely loves it, and can't wait to play when we both get home from work. If Torchlight Frontiers doesn't stray too far from what I loved about the first 2, I'm hooked. Sign me up!

I honestly wish an indie studio like this would pick up the torch of Guild Wars 1. Mostly peer-networked, small party instances, similar to WarFrame, but in the Torchlight unliverse? Sign me up. Infrastructure would be small, the experiences would be similar to a singleplayer game, but in episodic fashion, and wouldn't require the monolithic infrastructure of the usual MMO. GW1 was AMAZING. For those not familiar, they had a core game, that stretched across multiple expansions. Thing is, unlike WoW, for example, you could buy just one expansion and play that continent's worth of content, and never need to buy EVERYTHING. No loot boxes. No unfair advantage. Where GW2 failed is anything beyond level cap is scenery and cosmetics. GW1 gave you new skills and classes to chase. New story. New lore. Everything felt fresh, but you CHOSE to buy in. And it was always affordable. I miss my guild hall's "hot tub". I miss the friends I had there. I miss building a party to conquer content that would be a solo process in almost every other MMO. Even when NPC heroes were introduced into GW1, there was always the party building aspect to do anything outside of a lobby in it. I miss the days that MMOs required you to join up and interact with others to progress. Any "MMO" that I play to level cap SOLO is a joke. A waste of time. Instead of spending time monetizing, learn to build engaging content. Otherwise, just churn out Realm of the Mad God clones. That's what this generation of MMOs are worth. Last thought. I want a game like Attack on Titan, where everyone is weak, and only through bravery and teamwork does the population of the server survive. Self sacrifice counts. I need a drink.

this game is reminding me of marvel heroes. the shared spoke zones seem very reminiscent the patrol zones like midtown. marvel heroes also had 12 man raids

These sort of games are incredible on a controller. You can relax and just loot loot loot. Having the opportunity to switch between the two is going to be great.

Hi, this game is going to be season based like POE or will be a mmo where you will be progressing constantly like wow, MU or other ones?

I'm in love with what I'm seeing from Frontiers, the camera being closer, the interface, the new characters... everything is just so perfect. I hope I can fall in love with this one the same way I did with the first game, the second game was really not for me.

im super happy to see color as well, that gothic style in poe is good but that style lacks contrast sometimes. with out contrast its hard to even tell whats going on half the time and things graphically blend together in a bad way. sometimes my character in Poe gets so blended into the background its almost like camouflage thats grayed out, but some of the cosmetics do help with that. the art team is going to have their work to do in torchlight, going to love the added color and effects an stuff.

Will the final version have more than 4 active ability slots? For me one of the thrills of TL2 compared to D3 was the fact that you had so many ability-slots available. This would be a massive step back imo

Have you tried the game since it's been in alpha? I'd be interested to hear your impressions of the most recent update. They've added the railmaster class (the engineer that drops a turret and tracks) and it's such a unique concept. The fort system is in too. Those loading screens are brutal though. >_>

7:43... Wait a minute, Perfect World bought Runic, the studio behind Torchlight and Hob, and just THEN became the publisher for the Torchlight franchise. This will be the first Torchlight game born under the Perfect World banner. Perfect World didn't ruin Torchlight because it didn't had the chance, until now.

I usually never even consider playing games from this top down perspective (Ark, Path of Exile, League of legends) but this one has gotten my interest. My prefered art style is more of a realistic tone but they've nailed what they have been going for and i quite like it. Colourful but subtle. Idk if it's the lighting or what but i like it

any knows about rings and trinkets?

until D4 is announced this game is currently on the top of my list for most anticipated confirmed game

T2 had the multiplayer option where you can literally connect with your friends through LAN. The best part of it was you and your mates can always team up and camp out in your friend's house to pull out an all nighter to get those sweet items.

Torchlight was really, really good. The incentive to play after main story though, was not great. This looks awesome!

so is it an mmo or an arpg? like do you see others in the world? because if so, im down for an upgraded runesca....new mmo.
