Why do these people sell to this guy with his refined, polite sales patter for 50-60 percent instead of grading it and selling themselves? This guy says he doesn't focus on money, but he makes sure before his travels that he is going to get a rip-roaring profit for himself beforehand and then closes the deal. Nice work if you can get it!

Yes for ungraded cards. We pay more for graded cards.

Grading fees on high-value, vintage cards can be costly. Example: a $10,000 card will cost $499 to grade without shipping and insurance. Receiving 60% of the value for an ungraded card is quite fair.
