I remember me and a friend of mine played DW5 at his house and he defeated Diao Chan making Lu Bu mad. And we learned the hard way that it was the worst thing that we ever did. EDIT: DW6 not 5
23:00 Imagine running away from Lu Bu through and entire populated battlefield and everybody ignores your need for help because they don’t want to fight him either 😂
i think lubu 5 was the most dangerous if you dont know what ur doing, when his health is around 20~30% and he manage to get 2x atk buff + musou rage, its basically a 1 shot combo for ANY character and npc in game, only possible because the game nerfed him by giving him less poise and ally to juggle him with you. Other wise DW4 lubu is the hardest gameplay wise cause of his poise that require you to musou cheese him
DW5 is also the game where officers grouped up when you pushed an advantage, LuBu pushes you when Diao Chan retreats a bit and Diao Chan follows you if you slip her by her, other officers always pop up during the fight as well like Xu Rong/Niu Fu.. making it way harder..
Technically the new origin is bad only if they make it realistic game and open world online pvp game like red dead redemption 2 and make it a real fight not 1000 get kill*d with one hit make it hard like the old games
@@LuBu-vi damn, imagine wanting to play a game like red dead, the most boring slow shit possible, watching paint dry has more action than rockstar mid ass game. Bully>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>slop dead redemption 2
The issue with DW2 is that enemy officers "simulate" getting items, doing it when they get up from being knocked down. Player can avoid that by not finishing the attack strings, so the enemy officer isn't knocked down... but allies can interfere. Later PS2 games changed it so enemy officers can "get" effects of items by "charging up", which can be interrupted by hitting them hard enough. 14:34 this could be a good time to block. Some trivia (which could be got from reading the manual 😂) PS2 DW games had varying mechanics of blocking: In DW2, you could make a quick counter attack after blocking (this messed you up often, as enemy officers, especially the "legendary" ones, love doing that) DW3 doesn't have that; instead, by pressing attack while blocking, quickly after blocking a strike, you can "push back" the attacker to get more space. DW4 and 5 drop that, instead introducing a timed parry counter - while in blocking stance, press Triangle just before taking a hit; if you got it right, you will make a counter attack that will blow away people in front of you, while you are invincible. Lastly, in all games blocking requires you to stand still. another thing... A timely jump can save you from attacks you have no time to block or run away from.
This is a blast from the past for me. Lu Bu was my nightmare as a kid. I outrite refused to fight him unless I had a near maxed character cause he was just so scary. I miss old school DW so much man.
DW2 is vicious lmao, I kinda cheesed it by beating him with DIan Wei and having the axe throw charge attack by then already. Respect for just really diving in and going for it though and learning what each game has to offer to beat even the mighty Lu Bu, which I think is testament to their design!
D4 is where I first learned of true despair. Me and boy tried jumping him and didn't work. Always mopped two actual players. Now fight Lu Bu in Wo Long 😂
Me and my brothers used to only play on the highest difficulties, on dynasty warriors and extreme legends 😅. Who remembers unlocking secret items and the secret cutscenes. "It's its.... LuBu Arrgh get out of my way" is part of my vocabulary 😅
15:27 Bro when you are in that situation either jump away from his attacks or stand your ground and guard his attacks. Use guard tech of pressing square while guarding his attacks to push him away because you ain't blocking all his attacks that's for sure. Never turn your back on him after using a Musuo. He has long reach attacks for a reason LOL.
You know you're a true OG fan when you fan the love for DW3 despite the bullshit. Lol! My god, DW2, though? If that wasn't an absolute slaughter. Lol! Sir, i salute you. You're one crazy bastard. Lol!
Now, i wanna see you make an Empires series from DW4E - DW9E, just one playthrough each or doing a youtube livestream, a chill stream to play, and chat with the online boogeymans
Dynasty Warriors 2 was definitely a grindy game in terms of each battle for the reasons you observed, and I still remember being shocked how strong the peons were in that one and the mid battle save items. Probably an unpopular opinion but I didn't really care much for DW3. Dynasty Warriors 4 is by far my favorite entry in the series as I really liked the bodyguard and custom character features and the 4 exclusive Duel mechanic was neat even if most duels tend to be harder than just fighting them normally and the elemental orb items were pretty neat, it was also the entry that introduced me to the series. DW5 while def easier is still fun and the introduction of several new characters was pretty cool as well, the new base mechanics was something that was neat but even to this day I'm still mixed on if I like it and how it gates off parts of the maps or not, as such I sorta class it as a neutral addition that stayed into all future entries. DW6 I don't really have many memories of as I recall we only ever rented it back in the day. DW7&8 kinda clump together in my mind as I didn't play too much of 8 since I don't think it had a version on the Xbox 360 and kept the multi weapon system of 7 which was an introduction to the series that I find neat but also kinda annoying at the same time which is sorta how I feel about 8, as for 7 it's fun especially the map conquering mode, but only kinda ok otherwise. Didn't play 9. Also wait, Dynasty Warriors Origin? This is the first I'm hearing of this so thanks for making me aware that I have something to look into and potentially forward to.
Man you had me cackling throughout this whole video! I love all the editing, especially the Dashie ones! You got some really good taste! For DW3 Lu Bu, I keep knocking him down then breaking his guard with the C1 when he’s just about to get back up, and rinse and repeat until success. I’ve never played DW2, but I’m both looking forward to it, and not so much after that bull bull with the healing and merciless ai.
It's not that Red Hare kicks you off in DW3, it's that your character's rank (level) is too low early on to ride him. You'll notice the same thing with the darker brown and the white horses. I still maintain DW3 had the smartest enemy AI of all the games even now. You really had to learn to keep moving and never get surrounded if you could help it. At the very least you're using Zhao Yun, who has a versatile move set and decent reach. I remember using other starter characters in DW3 like Sun Shang Xiang and Huang Gai in those levels. Sun Shang Xiang has a range issue, and her attacks on horseback are too slow. Huang Gai is a tad bit slow, though he hits hard. Then you have Dian Wei from Wei, who has both problems except when he throws his axe as a last move. Also remember when we FIRST got DW3, it would be a while till we could buy a MEMORY CARD for the PS2. So imagine playing that level over. And over. And over. And over again. Without being able to save your progress. And yes, the Peons swarming and then bouncing you like a volleyball was a thing. Nostalgic even. Heaven forbid the officer you spent so long fighting decided to HEAL! Apparently DW3 XTREME Legends actually amped up the difficulty to DW3 as well, with crossbowmen and archers becoming REALLY deadly.
Nice vid. I am also a very old DW fan, but the last one I played was 5 but I played 2-5 to death and did pretty much everything in those games including defeating Lu Bu. The announcment of the new one also interested me, so probably why your vid popped up in my feed. Reminds me of all the old strats I used to have, like using the fire buff and keeping Lu Bu juggled to drain his health real fast even at low levels. I used to use the guard button to quick turn, that helps a lot in older games. I think DW2 had a system where if knocked down bosses use a buff or regain health, but it's limited so I use the quick hop to knock them down a bunch at the start. Like attacking really quickly after a forward jump, useful to knock down enemies and gain space. Also using infinites like in a final fight beat em up game by purposely restarting your combo strings on enemies backs forever and just repeating the first couple of combo strings and not knocking the opponent down. Brought back a lot of old memories.
DW9: Empires is very different from the normal DW9 as Lu Bu has way more health, a custcene for his entrance and most importantly the archers are missing... The godd*mn archers... Great video! Good luck if you plan on doing it again on the hardest setting in all games!
DW 3: Me: "this Lu Bu clown has a cockroach helmet, let's jump his ass" Brother: "easy win" *brother gets hit twice* Me: "you got this bro, im going to advance in the other direction" Brother: "F@CK YOU!!!!"
This just randomly showed up on my feed so I decided to just check it out real quick. Ended up watching the whole thing this was seriously entertaining man, great job. You earned a new sub for sure
Intro: "You can't set the difficulty in the early games." You can set the difficulty in settings/options for the first games. They have Easy, Normal and Hard. "DW4 Extreme Legends" is the first game to introduce Extreme/Chaos while "DW5" puts in Novice, aka. "Everything dies in one hit". Putting it on hard for the first games is a death sentence with level 1 characters unless you master parrying, fight peons alongside allies and keep a full quiver of 99 arrows for Lu Bu. Especially on DW2 with the healing, get to a safe spot outside his agro range, let him fight allies and pray they don't knock him down as you unload your quiver into his back... Gotta battle 🧀with 🧀! Fun fact: Zhao Yun and Lu Bu are in DW1 as well, it's like the duel in DW4 but *extremely* clunky. Update: I see you got to the arrow strat on your own but I don't think you knew you could save the game right next to Lu Bu at Hu Lao gate to save hours of playtime. I know how long these battles can take when your character is weak so I'm sorry man, I felt that pain whenever you died. Also, pressing select + start at any time will reset the game if you want to skip the ""Game Over" screen or just want to quit a bad run. Really helpful when playing on hard.
I only touched Dynasty Warriors Gundam, NEVER played any of the OG games. But after seeing this and seeing how much of a thug Lu Bu is, I gotta get into the games now. My one complaint: he is not slime in Fate Grand/Order. Good video though, you got me to sub!
I miss dw2 dw3 dw3xl I’m so happy to see people that really play this game. I thought it was only a few people. I guess a lot of people in this world knows about dynasty Warriors. I am happy. I thought I was the only one and a few others. It looks like dynasty. Warriors is being known all over this world now thank goodness. Oh yes, my favorite character number one I even have a tattoo of lubu tatted on me and the name I used to have people call me that in high school as a nickname Lubu ha ha ha ha ha ha
The edits on this video were amazing, simply hilarious! 🤣 I feel your pain fighting Lu Bu, your attempts mirrored mine to the T over the years. Great work on your attempts! 🔥
Im not sure if you have ever played the Dynasty Warriors Empires series, but you basically play as either a vassel for a lord and work up to a lord or become a vagabond and raise an army to take over a kingdom. A neat challenge in that game is to conquer the map with 0 commanders or allies
Heh.. this brings me back. I got my siblings into DW, Id max out entire rosters stats, getting items was just an obscure mess, I spent so many hours on this series. True Musou at near death and evading like a champ was how Id kill him early on. Hes a monster in DW 4. The cpu getting free hp and items is funny to watch again, it really is BS haha.
Thanks for making this video. It was a trip down memory lane going through all the games. Glad to confirm DW2 is as hard as I remember when I was a kid and not just the rose tinted glasses 😂
I played from DW2 to 6. I was the type that tried to fight Lu Bu. That "worked" as well as you might expect. Also, in DW2, you should only hit an officer 3 times. Don't make them fall. They'll recover health/gain a buff. I learned that early on lol
Funniest shii I seen in a min n wha made it funnier was realizing this video was damn near n hour long lmao I clicked thinkin this was gon b a quick luh 10 minutes but I fw shii like this😭
Never thought much about playing Dynasty Warriors myself, but it sounds like you have a similar outlook on games as I do. I'm legit checking these games out because of you, bro. Thanks!
In DW4 I’ve only ever beaten Lu Bu (fairly) in a duel on easy mode, but normal/hard mode, I had to cheese with Zhuge Liang/Sima Yi jump charge spam. . . I think they rebalanced the duel system in DW4 XL, so it’s a bit easier to deal with on harder difficulties, but winning don’t hit the same if you don’t do it on OG 4
I really want to see you do Dynasty Warriors 4 Lu BU on hard mode with an early game (Or more accurately level appropriate) character. That rat bastard traumatized me as a child with the stupid unblockable attack, rabies level aggression, and the useless AI allies. Maybe its just copium so I can justify losing 1000 times as a kid, but I don't think he gives you anywhere near the breathing room that he does on normal mode.
I played DW9, got up to Hu lao gate and it's looked massive huge battlefield and I was so hyped... Then 8t was like 40 hits doing no damage and a one hit kill button prompt... Sucked so so hard
