EDIT: it’s been almost a month and we’re almost at 25k. She has stopped messing with us 😂 i think she knows! Here’s the video on how to install a ship horn. I ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eGzdwEYP_hc.html
About 20 years ago, my friend/boss had a barge/ship horn inside the door of the shop.. If/when I was late to work [pretty much every day] he'd let er' rip as soon as I staggered in. Coffee Everywhere Without Fail. I installed one in a few of my minitrucks back then also, and used to scare the piss outa' people with it all the time. Priceless memories! 🤣
I used to have 6 selinium horns on my ford focus back in highschool ...2 in the back dash, 2 in the front bumper & 2 in the back bumper but I never made it around to a cruise horn lmfao
its way more fun to use an additional relay, and toggle switch, to use your factory horn button instead of a button in the center console.... basically, with the switch "off" you hit your factory horn.. and with the switch "on" you hit the air horn.... super easy to do since youve already got it all hooked up... i could gladly tell you exactly how to wire that up.... my knowledge creds: 30 year old with 12 years experience as a professional car stereo installer/ automotive electician... extreme knowledge in 12volt relays and switches.. and several custom train horn kit installstions done this way (including my previous personal vehicle)
My buddy got ahold of a ship horn when we were teenagers and we hooked it up to a gas station air station around 3:00am and it took about 120 lbs of air pressure just to light it up and when we lit it up you could hear it for miles !🤣👍
i worked weekend overnights at the amoco across from the dodge ram plant in fenton mo and did not have an air horn. but if i did lets just say i did. bobs snack shop, represnt. now the plant is erased, the gas station, its a gold buyer stand.
I’m glad that I don’t live in a cookie cutter community in other words in a bedroom community. I’m glad that I live in a rural area spread apart and unaffected by noise.
There use to be a guy Dan( God rest him). Would show up in his '57 Chevy panel truck at our local Friday night cruise and blast his ship horn!! Gave me a heart attack every time!! Love you Dan! R.I.P. buddy.
Mount the horn on a rotating stand above the height of the bed. That way you can point it in the direction you want the most sound. If not at least open the tailgate. You're losing a lot of volume with the tailgate closed. The wavelength of the sound coming out of the horn is pushing against the closed tailgate and can't make its true tone or volume.
You have to hold it longer so the whole baffles fill up for second half of tone mone was 172db @200psi on 10 gal tank And 1/2 inch valve and line But be careful I broke a bed bolt and a fender do to vibration
I have a train horn installed on my SUV & love it. I also have APA system installed. So, after blowing my horn I can curse you out as well. They can scream & yell all they want but they'll never be louder than me... lol
OMGDS!!! You’re in FLORIDA !! 😂😂😂😂 I’m in rural Tampa, your neighbor are like my neighbors! I Absolutely Love it!! 😂😂😂😂😂🙂 I have a hatchback. ☹️ mine will blow up with that horn. BUT I WANT IT!! LOL
That's hilarious, my dad just recently installed a freight train horn that his dad stole off a decommissioned train in Pennsylvania the neighbors including my mom hates it he just goes around blowing tweaked eardrums out
The smartest play would be to put that horn in a junk vehicle, give that neighbor a midnight heart attack and disappear, plausible deniabilty at its finest.
I live in Panama City as well. I have a horn blaster setup on both of my trucks. I scare people all up and down the beach. It's hilarious. I like to see your setup one day. Good Times.
Oh my gosh. Finally someone who put cinema bars in when they made a cinematic film sequence. Legit everyone i watch has epic montages and good colour grading but no cinema bars. Thank goodness for those bars 🥳🤩
Try angle mounting the horn so the tailgate doesn't muffle the decibels. It could be a simple cable pull to raise the end, then drop it back down when people start looking
That's so freaking insane my uncle took one of the air horns off a freight train and installed on this pickup truck really hear the horn from over eight miles away now I must continue watching a video and see how it chalks up compared to the Horn of a freight train !!!! I bet it Really Blows people away 😜
Based off your little relay holder, and your brief timelapse of plumbing your air tank, your way better than your average "YoUtUbE mEcHaNiC" and a build video would be pretty sweet, and actually helpful. You'd be surprised how many people dont know how to wrap teflon tape on a npt thread so it doesnt bunch up or how to use proper wiring techniques to not burn down a vehicle. 👌
Horn is in the bed, nothing to see, plenty to hear however, we love it. My buddy had a train horn on his Peterbuilt which he used to clear idiots off the roads.
I had a buddy salvage a horn off an old train once and put it on his truck. Thing was lousy as hell but everytime he came within about a half mile of any train tracks the gates would close automatically lol
A close family member used to have a horn that played the Dukes of Hazard Sound...you know what I'm talking about...He and my Uncle hooked it up to some crazy arena speakers that sat in elongated truck bed (I was young so limited knowledge). We lived in the sticks and this was in the 80s so no noise ordinances and such. They would drive down main strip of town at different hours over a long weekend and play it in front of the two local Karens that everyone despised. To say Karens lost their shit is an understatement. The Sheriff showed up the Monday after long holiday weekend and asked my dad to remove the speakers which they did. Sorta had too...not out of fear of being arrested or anything. The Sheriff was also his dad and lived next door lol. While the dept got a chuckle out of the whole thing.the Sheriff maintained he was for the county not just a select few and worked hard to maintain a safe friendly town.
Love the color of your vehicles & what drives the neighbors(living dead), crazy also is that you keep your cool! Get your buddies & go play basketball at your parents house. ENJOY! LIFE TO THE FULLEST,OK?!
