My Raspberry Pi is on the Dark Web...or more specifically, it's connected to the ToR network and is being used as on Onion Service.....but it's basically a Dark Web website running on my Raspberry Pi!! This is incredibly cool, takes only a few minutes to setup...you've gotta try this!!

I'm a junior in college majoring in cybersecurity and tbh, i've kind of just been coasting through. The idea was always super interesting to me, but I lacked motivation to go home and challenge myself on my own time. You have completely changed that. I am learning Linux and for once actually UNDERSTANDING it. Most of all, you've made this exciting for me. I watched your video about figuring out your "why" and it almost made me cry. Thank you so, so much for all of your time and your energy. You are helping so many people.

@@abdulrahmanhs8162 Honestly immerse yourself into your course material. It is easy to do your homework based on quizlets and skip textbook readings, but there is a reason college is expensive and a degree is worthy. Get the most out of your classes! That was my biggest mistake. I also didn't join clubs until my junior year, so if I could go back, I would get into them earlier. You get to work and network with people who are more experienced than you and that will help you so much. Also, if you are a cyber security major, I would recommend joining a computer science club because computer science majors take much more technical classes and you could make yourself more well rounded that way. Hope that helps :)

ToR has been effectively de-anonymized at lease by the US Government. They run most of the endpoints out there, and can do packet timing analysis between every ISP in America and the ToR endpoints to determine what route was taken. Just FYI. As originally designed, it was and still is extremely secure, but they've essentially got a side-channel attack using traffic timing analysis to circumvent the ToR network entirely.

quick question, I've explored tor off and on, and after watching this video, a thought crossed my mind. What determines your onion url to be kept, and not changed? I'd presume normal users who look up their onion, but never host, may expect their onion to change each time they reconnect. As for hosting, let's say I lose power, or my internet resets, or if I move, what determines to say my onion stays or changes?
@ruthlessdraculigula1051
@ruthlessdraculigula1051 2 года назад
Your unique onion address is created when you start the Tor client. It's the address that runs on your particular computer and stays the same regardless of the network you're using. To get a new address you'd have to delete the output file the Tor client (torrc file) creates, and then run the Tor client again, at which point you'll be given a new onion address.

Under Tor's architecture, administrators at the entry point can identify the user's IP address, but can't read the content of the user's correspondence or know its final destination. Each node in the network thereafter only knows the node from which it received the traffic, and it peels off a layer of encryption to reveal the next node to which it must forward the connection. (Tor stands for "The Onion Router.") But Tor has a known weakness: The last node through which traffic passes in the network has to decrypt the communication before delivering it to its final destination. Someone operating that node can see the communication passing through this server.
@arnab.kushaan
@arnab.kushaan 3 года назад
@Aaron Deugray They don't leave the network. Basically they peel off the security layer from the previous node and put on a new layer.

Don’t adjust your browser size in Tor. Just by the size of the window if it’s a unique resolution you could be tracked by that. The default size when you open Tor is meant to be a common resolution

Thank you for your inspiring awesome videos...i have already set up a rp4 b 4gb as a media centre with kodi on retropie os and added some roms in there to play some games.(hard to find those working). I also set it up as a nas to check if its gonna handle all that at the same time and it seems ok so far. But i am not stoping there . I will also try to set up a website like this one plus make it a pi hole for my network..Lets see for how long this beautiful little sbc till i fry it up...awesome content Chuck. Another thing to ask guys. I am currently preparing for the ccna 200-301 and i was wondering if it would be helpful to buy some cisco lab set ups for hands on exp. Does it worth it? if yes what models(switches,routers) should i get?

you can use the program mpk224o if i spelled it right to generate a vanity v3 onion address, remember to use batching mode, also it took me 24 hours ish to get one w/ the prefix "phnixirlow". i tried to paste the full address but youtube deleted it so nevermind, hope this helps!
@BoostedNW
@BoostedNW 3 года назад
@Big man Lol No. That is not how they did it, there are generators that can generate a vanity public key. Just like there are generators that can generate a vanity public bitcoin address. Takes more computing power the more complex it is, there are programs that harness GPU power to complete these operations... so likely to get facebookcorewwwi took lots of GPU/computing power to essentially "crack" the generation of that public key. (You can't just go in and specify what you want your url/onion address to be)

What you heard isnt true.
@jdts7589
@jdts7589 3 года назад
Not tracked, but they can read your http traffic because the connection between the exit node and the destination server isn't encrypted. That could potentially deanonimize you if you send identifiable info or login without https encryption.
