Thank you for commenting and I appreciate the feedback, that's what makes it worthwhile. Big up your 156 days, what happened during this time to make you quit altogether? You came to this decision 100 days before me.

Like you said, the uncertainty, I didn’t want another problem in my life from alcohol and I’ve tried to drink less and all that but always ended up in the same position, decided enough is enough and I didn’t want to let myself down or my family, I read a book called ‘rational recovery’ which explains how our brains work around alcohol, I hated myself before But I’m slowly regaining my self confidence so I will never go back

I’m on day 39! Whoop! Whoop! It’s the best. Definitely noticed an uptick in coffee. 😁☕️ I’m ok with this for now. I will address the coffee issue later.

This happened to me at the start as well where caffeine intake increased in first two months. It's easy to worry about that but remember that the main focus and achievement is giving up alcohol. My caffeine intake is back to what it was before now, it's just an important part of my day and the quality of the coffee has become a big part of the enjoyment.

If only I knew how easy it would be, it’s been over 2 years and I don’t have any cravings at all, for me the key difference was that I didn’t suffer withdrawal, not even within the first 30 days after go’ogling and following Steffon Barkload’s and quitting because I just wanted to.

Hi, and thanks for good videos. I am a few years older than you (turning 55 this summer) but are in a similar situation. I am training ccyling ca 350-400 hour a year and are happy with that. I was a typical weekend drinker and done this since my late teens. In recent years, I got tired of waking up with a hangover and ruining the next day. Earlier this year, I was told by my doctor that I had high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Alcohol has a BIG influence on this, so I decided to cut alcohol for 3 months. Now after 5 months without alcohol, life has radically improved. Normal blood pressure and better cholesterol. Better sleep, digestion, exercise and surplus in everyday life. I will probably never drink again. So to anyone out there considering the same thing, it's NEVER too late 🙂

Thank you so much for sharing, this will encourage a lot of people. I don’t know about you but I’m perfectly ok with exercise being a replacement for the booze. Keep it going, the second 6 months are super insightful.

I’m 48 every time I drink it’s for 3-5 days the last one was 6 I eat drink water 💦 in between but I miss work I do it 5 -7 times a year I stopped it before for 5-6. Months but soon as I take it again I’m on it for days beer, I’m of it 63 days now again traning hiking weights boxing 🥊 I always trained but I just don’t seem to be able to control it once I start, sometimes I feel bored but I think I’ll just stay of it as it does me no good I swear the time money you waste on it is crazy.

Well done on your 250 days. Great achievement and you’ve gained and learnt an invaluable amount in them 250 days. Your vloggs help me as almost 80 days in I have found cravings coming back but manageable. I do wonder if drinking non alcohol beers in the sun is a bad thing as I am drinking quite a few of them. I am going to keep battling on for my 100 days and as much more as possible. I started this journey in Düsseldorf 11 weeks ago today and by luck to the day I am back here again in Düsseldorf with work. It’s a sign to keep going. Cheers and continued success.

Thanks so much Gary, congrats on almost reaching the 3 month mark. In the beginning alcohol free beers were a nice way to satisfy that first drink craving, I'd only drink one every other night or so and found it helped. I still drink them now and that's just because it's a nice drink and sugary soft drinks can get a bit much. Interestingly I spoke to someone who's 24 years sober and been through the twelve steps, he thinks that 0% beers are a tease for anyone who's been sober for less than 5 years, I need to dig into that statement a bit more. Like everything it's very individual, does it increase your chances of drinking alcohol which is the one thing we don't want to happen. Only the individual can answer that.

163 days for me. I have the EXACT same feeling about my morning coffee the biggest pour, will i have another? and the small pleasure it gives....odd how it changes from one substance to another IDK... I don't have a timeline for or if I'll drink again but at this time I have no desire to go back. I'm 45 2 small children a wife, I drank hard for 20 years I no longer see any benefit in it and I am SO much better without it. It's easier to keep the tiger in a cage than on a leash, that's how I view moderation for myself, its way to much work! Thanks for your channel.

Experiencing a bit of empty drink syndrome as well haha? I posted about it on a Reddit page and it blew up with people that have the same so don’t worry we are not alone. Something to do with dopamine I reckon.

I have much the same relatioinship and approach with alcohol as you. I am 35 days in and feeling brilliant, so more to look forward to. + I really like the thinking around the quitting for good. Whilst I am not saying that openly that is how I am thinking also
@sober-diary
@sober-diary 27 дней назад
Thank you for sharing. If you like the idea of quitting for good, then there's something there. I found it easier to commit to a year first, then the full commitment came naturally after I could fully evaluate where my life was at, plus go through all the relevant experiences.

144 days in. Now I even get mild hangover symptoms from alcohol free beer. How times have changed.

Interesting, I've never experienced the hangovers from AF beers. Initially I did notice any subtle change in the way I was feeling because I was so focused on trying to feel good. We need to accept that we are not going to feel amazing 100% of the time, that's just life.

I hear the 'empty glass syndrome' problem. I remember when I was a drinker and I'd be given a free glass of champagne or I'd ask for a wine and the pour would be so small I'd be depressed because that wasn't anywhere near enough for me. I'd rather have nothing than a tiny glass of champagne. If I had the glass, then I have to run back out to the bar and load up on drinks for the gig/wedding or whatever event I was at. And the anxiety of trying to get enough to drink on an international flight and pressing the call button every 10 minutes and being cut off, having 10 more hours until I get to America knowing I can't drink until I land...it's torture. I'll be 2 years sober in September and I love being sober.
@sober-diary
@sober-diary 2 месяца назад
Mate, congrats on being 2 years sober. I love to hear this. Did you also used to hate the restaurants that only serve small bottles of beer? Every 5 mins I'd be calling the waiter over...
@archangel_josh
@archangel_josh 2 месяца назад
@@sober-diary It took me being sober to understand that restaurants/cinemas/cafes aren't places to get wasted at...I never understood why there was a 1 drink limit at the movies then I'd have to come back out and get another one 10 minutes later. In the end I just snuck my own stuff in or would have a 'water bottle' with me at the restaurant.

Alright mate like the channel 👍🏻 i done a full year sober and afterwards have been out a few times as a tester and the outcome was just the same so i have also decided to go tee total and remove alcohol out of my life completely . Keep up the good work .

Thanks for the feedback. When you say ‘outcome’ was the same, do you mean you went too hard or it just wasn’t enjoyable. It’s all part of the journey isn’t it, some people get too hung up on the streak.
