More nurses need to talk about this because up until I found you and another nurse on tiktok, I really thought I was alone in my feelings about bedside. I have so much more peace now making my way out of the bedside ♥️

Start looking at what other job postings you are seeing in your area. Part of the work is realizing the skills and experience you bring and applying for the positions! Easier said then done but once I realized this, it all changed.

Nursing can be terrifying! Constant worry that you are going to forget something or make a mistake. Constant short staffing, accurate charting, double checking meds, etc. Codes at the end of shift and having to restock the crash cart. Private duty nursing saved me. One patient per shift. Wonderful!

Amazing! I want more people to know there are more options for us aside from bedside nursing. How did you find your current role? Do you work for a company?

Unsafe patient ratios was a big deal for me! I’d have 12 patients with an LVN. Sometimes even 6 patients alone. So when I hear ppl say that there’s patient ratios law in California, I’m like 🤔 I live in California and this was an issue for me. One of the many reasons why I left the bedside.

Healthcare workers are so amazing! Thank you so much for what you do. I really wanted to work in healthcare as a nurse, but I was afraid that I wasn't practicing medicine, but I would be surviving shifts (short staffed, patient load, precepting new hires, and unappreciative leadership/patients)

I left bedside (med surg) nursing in 1988 for community health nursing. I returned to the bedside (med surg) in 2004 for 3 years. I work in public health. A whole new world. Important to know and understand data and program evaluation. Hoping to retire in a few years.

I got my RN license in 2018 and since then ive been working as telemetry bedside nurse. 5 years of being a bedside nurse. Since pandemic ive been a travel nurse and now Im literally doing it for $$$ otherwise Im sick and tired of being a bedside nurse. I want to leave this career. Im thinking about what to do. Im looking into pmu license...microblading...or permanent make up artist. I was looking into aesthetic RN such as botox and fillers, but its too invasive and i dont want to poke wrong spot on someone else's face and ruin thier faces.. i just want to do something else other than being a bedside nurse.

…. My dear, thanks for sharing. I really feel and confirm about what you say. I’m a fresh graduate working in a residency program in a Medsurg unit. It’s been 3 months since I started and am gonna quit for sure within the next 3 months. Is that too soon. I am drained and have a lot of pre-shift anxiety.

BSN program senior here ✋ I worked bedside as a cna for 2 years in both SNF and Med surg and I already felt burned out within those 2 years. Pre-work anxiety is REAL. I’m taking public health right now and am really interested in the field! I’m even considering reaching out to my schools career coaches about how to get into this specialty right away

Yes it is! Make sure to watch some of my othe PHN rated videos and Q&As. I getvthis question a lot. First make sure to apply for your PHN certificate as soon as you graduate(I have a video on this). Also start looking at your surrounding counties PHN job postings to see what's available and what the requirements are. Some PHNs position require experience. I say yiu should highlight your 2 years experience in SNF and med surg. That is valuable! Let me know if you have other questions.

@@MayelaPerez Thank you! I love your channel and I'm so happy with all the info you give about this field! It was only a few weeks ago that I had no idea what public health nursing even was and now thanks to you and my wonderful professor I know about specialty that I think I want to go in when I graduate

Hello. I am new to your channel and thank you very much that you have shared your life as an public health nursing. I am from south east Asian. I am actually a fresh graduate with public health and will get diploma in nursing as well but with no experience. I am really into working in developed countries. So, Could you please give me suggestion for what i can do with my degree and diploma? And how much can I earn if i don't have no experience? It would be really helpful 😇

Any advice for a new grad RN about to finish her first year of bedside nursing NOC shift? I’m in a surgical unit, and I found very early on that bedside was not for me and my mental health has def taken a toll. It’s gotten to a point where I don’t want to even switch to day shift for the job or seek another unit in the hospital. I’m considering school nursing or outpatient positions but afraid that having only one year is insufficient to be hired. Though I have many classmates who were hired in outpatient positions as new grads. 🙏🏼
