After so many years of being on caffeine and stacking pre workout, coffee, caffeine pills, and energy drinks together, I finally decided to see what life would be like without caffeine.
It's hard to imagine that when having caffeine is so apart of you're routine and when you've created a limitation such as "I can't function unless I drink it", and then we conveniently find plenty of 'studies' that affirm our belief that "Hey!, coffee is actually healthy and good for you!". It's only if you actually take some time to experiment what it's like to live without caffeine on a regular basis, improve other aspects of your life as well, that you realize the truth about caffeine (assuming you were addicted to it beforehand like I was).
So, I did it for 30 days... and I liked it so much, that I stayed off for a whole year. I even got back on it, and I realized the contrast very quickly after.
In this video I break down some amazing effects/benefits I felt from getting off of it, some potential 'downsides', and my overall closing thoughts. Is caffeine some deadly drug if you consume it everyday? No. I still will drink it as it's meant to be consumed, which is as a TOOL, not as a crutch. And I believe many will benefit from doing the same.

Disclaimer: If you try something like quitting caffeine but your : 1.Eating is shit 2. Sleep is shit 3.Don't workout 4.Have other terrible habits, etc.. You'll be trying to "bail out the ocean with a bucket" Get the fundamentals in order first... Then you'll level up 😈

I've learned over the years that anytime you want to quit something that is bad for you, especially if it is addictive, you need to want the things you're gaining more than the things you're giving up. Quitting simply because the thing is bad for you usually fails once the withdrawals kick in; but quitting because you're excited about what you're gaining will work wonders!

I relate to all of this. I had to give up caffeine due to a medical condition, but it turned out to be a blessing. I never realized my true potential without caffeine, I really didn't think I could function without it. After letting it go, I had a throbbing headache that lasted 3 weeks. After that, I started feeling pretty good. My energy was consistent, I stopped worrying about little things, and sleeping was great. It feels good now not to worry about getting a fix throughout the day. It's just all me now! But food is important, that's how I get my energy now. But life is great like this! You're right how the body eventually adapts to caffeine and your basically at your natural energy levels with the caffeine. But now without coffee, the body regulates that natural energy level and I actually feel sort of the same when I was drinking coffee, but better. But yeah, I also have coffee once in a while now, sort of like having a glass of wine once in a while. Without caffeine, I've accomplished so much more than when I was hyped up on caffeine and other stimulants.

Congrats on 1 year! I’ve flip-flopped so many times with quitting. I find when I go back to it, I’m like “THIS IS AMAZING” then within a couple of months, the sleep debt and the feeling of never being able to shut off gets to me. Along with the anxiety. I find that even one coffee in the am wrecks my sleep. After seeing this vid, I’m cold-turkeying myself off only 1 a day and have the familiar cotton wool headache and low mood, but my sleep has improved instantly. Anxiety has disappeared. Thanks for this!

I’m just happy this has woken up many people including myself. The mental alertness and fogginess rollercoaster began to scare me. I always wondered why can’t I just be focused always? I quit weed in my mid 20s, then saw a video talking about quitting coffee… I stopped and was pleasantly surprised to realize I am good naturally. Funny how something natural almost feels like a life hack.

If I drank 1 cup or coffee I couldn't sleep for about 20 hours later....(this started happening after my body changed from getting the co vid around 2 years ago). Even eating a piece of chocolate pr a cup of tea kept me up to around 5 AM. I quit it all a few months ago, now of I am lucky I can go to sleep at 2, 1, or 12 AM if I am lucky. I have eliminated all sources of caffeine from my diet...but as someone who loves the taste of green tea, chocolate, and coffee....it had been hard (not mossing the caffeine, but the taste of those things). After about a month caffeine free, I have my life back.

Glad you are doing well Jon. Another authentic video!!! Love it. Looking forward to learning more in future videos soon. I fasted caffeine for two weeks to start off the year and totally felt fine with and without caffeine. Only drink two cups. Didnt have much withdrawal symptoms. Definitely considering going off completely especially if I think it is unnecessary. I really found the point about sleep interesting because I never viewed it that even if you just drink caffeine in the morning it still is impacting your sleep. Great to know and as always, thanks for being down to earth.

hey thanks for watching man! Future videos to come for sure, the one I'm dropping next will be huge 😈💪 stay tuned! Cool, so you weren't addicted it sounds like, but definitely having any caffeine within 10-12 hours of bed time (difficult for that not to be the case) can impact sleep, even if its very slightly it can compound over time, especially when done consistently!

I quit caffeine cold turkey 1 month ago and 3 weeks into it I developed panic attacks and anxiety. I went from maybe 8 cups of strong coffee and tea a day to nothing overnight. Then suddenly around the 2 week point I had thoughts I was going to die, and they just got stuck in my head. Turns out this is normal because the adrenal gland and certain hormones have been thrown out of whack because coffee has such a strong effect on them

Today was such a wake up call for me. I took my regular two cups of coffee before going to the gym and it was absolute hell. Acid reflux, dizziness and an overall feeling of disconnectedness to real life. Also I noticed that I started to develop some sort of social anxiety. Someone started a conversation over there and it took me a lot of energy to keep up with him. Honestly I don't want those spikes anymore, cause it ducks with my eating habits as well. Although I eat less I feel bloated many times. Let's do this!
@JonathanMango
@JonathanMango 2 года назад
100%. It causes energy levels to be completely unpredictable (sometimes way too high, or else too low, etc). Caffeine intake amount has been directly correlated to potential for anxiousness/anxiety attacks also, since it fucks with the nervous system. This will help you big time!

Wouldn't you need to stop eating chocolate, hot chocolate etc? As some of them can contain caffeine
@JonathanMango
@JonathanMango Год назад
Technically, yes. But unnecessary since these things do not stimulate the nervous system as much as more concentrated caffeine sources do like the ones I mention in the vid. I still would even have green tea/black tea. Still nothing stimulative (at least not to me). So you cannot build a massive tolerance and addiction unless you eat pounds of dark chocolate. And if you did...by then you'd have many other problems worse than the caffeine intake haha

i would never even fucking consider quitting coffee, that is completely absurd

People that say things like this always end up quitting it within like 3 years and talk about how it changed their lives and how they thought they could never consider quitting it and will never look back 😂

@@JonathanMango I can't think of a single good reason to quit.

I don’t drink coffee but I have been considering drinking decaf for the antioxidants. Since there would be no caffeine, I feel that I would get only the ‘good’ from drinking a cup paired with lots of water throughout the day. Thoughts? Love all of your content by the way!

yeah that sounds like a fine idea. Didn't think about that but for those that really enjoy the taste and smell then this is a great way to compromise. Appreciate you watching!

What antioxidants? There's nothing like that just check who funds studies that say so. Also check the pesticides that r used in coffee...

I think you get antioxidants just with fresh roasted coffee. And, decaf has caffeine. Up to 3 percent of original ammount.

Decaf coffee still has caffeine, just not as much. It is NOT 100% caffeine free.

What was the near fatal incident?
@JonathanMango
@JonathanMango Год назад
sleep deprivation + caffeine overdose after 8 months - began fainting sporadically throughout the day, needed medical help, lost a bunch of hair in the process, and also got extremely sick to finish off the argument that i should probably chill 😂

What did you substitute drinking the caffeine with? Water, green tea ?
@JonathanMango
@JonathanMango 2 года назад
Just water and I currently am having 1-2 teas a day max. Typically chai/black tea, which is still a fraction of and different caffeine effect than coffee/pre/energy drinks/etc

@@JonathanMango Ugggh. So you didn't really quit caffeine. Literally the most addictive drug in the world. No one ever quits entirely for long.

So you didn't quit caffeine then! 2x black teas is a fair amount of caffeine. Even the caffeine in decaf will keep your brain happy. @@JonathanMango
