Love this man. I want to commit more to RU-vid myself for the same reasons. Get so caught up in the daily grind of making a living (even though it’s with camera) I never get time to just be creative. Also side note, people get so pissed about “clickbait” but that’s how the game is played man.

I love what you are saying man. Been there and it sucks. Just don't get complacent. In some weird way the grind of having clients and constant deadlines keep you productive and on your shit. The challenge is to bring that focus and grind to your own projects and like I stated before "Not get complacent".

Hey Cam, was just browsing thru your history of videos and came across this vid. It's super cool how you view the community aspect and how you mentioned its like hearing from friends when someone comments. I resonate with a lot of what you said regarding the self funded documentaries and sometimes find myself stuck as well lol. Exciting. I just discovered your channel through most of your photo stuff, and it’s interesting to hear you say that in the back of your head you wish you were just making youtube videos. I always wanted to work in the fashion space, so it’s funny seeing people doing what you want to be doing, saying out loud that they’d rather be doing something else. It’s an interesting phenomenon I’ve run into time and time again with other creatives. Seems like nothing is perfect and theres always something else they’d rather be doing. I’m no exception! I love everything I’ve seen so far, subscribed, and ready for more! Break a leg!

Wow thank you! Yeah I was a little worried about the transition because of that, but I know I have a LOT more to offer. Specially with AI coming up and more and more younin being able to buy powerful cameras and are willing to get bossed around to take 5,000 images in a day haha. You're an inspiration man. More power to you. The freelance life is only sustainable mentally & physically for so long. I hope this new path works out well and you can document the journey so we can all follow suit. The dream for all of us is to spend our time focusing on what we're passionate about, and having to focus that time on soul-sucking client work can really erode that passion to a point it becomes a chore to do what you love. It's definitely something we all struggle with almost daily, myself included.

That's a tough decision I guess, but I can understand you. I'd probably do the same if I could. After more than 12 years and one customer project after another and, above all, after one uncreative customer request after another, you want your own projects, your own deadlines and your own voice. Good Luck with that. You got some good informative content here and I think, we can feel your passion. Most other RU-vidr's with MillionPlus followers, you only feel the marketing in their videos and less the informative content.

I subbed because you are proving a great voice for the camera community and the indigenous community. You are not only trying to tell stories, but you're also representing a minority group that is not really present in this space. They need representation and you can serve as a powerful voice for their community. The last thing we need is just another white guy rattling off camera specs, we need people like you who can elevate indigenous story telling higher, tell their unheard stories, and introduce people to a widely under represented group in America. Wishing you all the best bro, always found your style cool and interesting, I try to learn from it while developing my own style, eager to see whatever you're coming up with. I watch your videos even if I'm not interested in the topic that much, like when you do a camera review that I'm not in the market for, there's always something about the cinematography, an angle, a lighting, a transition, something that I can look at and say "hey, I should try that".

It was my dream when I started my channel. Working for yourself is great, but ultimately you're still working for someone producing content for someone else. But with RU-vid, I get paid to make content about whatever I want with full creative freedom. And you just can't beat that. This is why it's so enticing. As a fellow filmmaker, making our own films is what we truly love doing. But we don't always make anything from it. Usually it sits in that bracket of artistic work that's lightly seen and often forgotten. But here it stays alive, it's always going to be seen by viewers for years to come. And it's a passive income that you simply can never have with making content for other people. That's why RU-vid is the bees knees baby.

I love this!!!! I’m a screenwriter. I was a professional photographer for 10+ years and worked only with models and magazines. Then switched to screenwriting.
