You know what I really love about your art and your style? You’re super loose and free. You’re happy to slap things on without fear. This is so different from my tightly controlled process and I love watching you craft. I hope one day I will be braver and more free in my process too. 😘
Annika it is also why I fell in love with mixed media. Because I could have that freedom to make mistakes. I don't like the perfectionism of fine art and I believe anyone can be brave and free in their art process. You have nothing to loose!!!
I started scrapbooking and went mad with paper and card. But, because I flit like a butterfly from hobby to hobby , I’ve now started making junk journals. So you have given me some brilliant ideas here. Fabulous!!!! Thank you for a very inspiring and informative video. 😃👍
LITERALLY GOLD TO ME!!!! Thanks for the idea of pre-prepping my art journal pages...what a great idea for what to do with mountains of scrapbook papers I have.... GREAT VIDEO chickie. 😘😘😘
I loved hearing about your scrapbook store memories- in 2003 I owned a scrapbook store and loved standing in the aisles of beautiful card stock ♥️ we have since closed the store but I cherish those days and have hoarded so many papers lol
@@KerenTamir I’m in a little town in Western Washington State and my store was here. We closed when all the stores were closing to avoid debt - it was a good decision at the time but I sure do miss it
oh wow, did you close this past year or a long time ago? I'm sorry to hear that. I heard once that the lifetime of a scrapbook store is 7 years but wasn't sure I believed it.
I totally agree with you...we loose interest in one form of art and then that guilt of money wasting and so much of stuff that occurred so much space in your house. I am in that phase..😁😁
Yes that’s exactly it and I didn’t feel good giving it away to people but at the same time I also wanted to incorporate that piece of my heart into my art.
Yes that’s exactly what I want to show is that whether you’re a beginner or an advanced creative you can be open to possibilities. We can all create in our own style we just need the freedom to express ourselves
Great video Keren! I too am enjoying using my stash of many different materials in ways I never thought I would. My sewing machine gets used more for handmade journals these days, and I love incorporating mixed media in tags, pages, etc. Nice to be able to see you on screen... hopefully we can meet up at Paper Lane again someday!🥰🤞
Yes I’m hoping I can get to teaching one day again. Right now I’m doing it online and teaching classes through my memberships. I wish I didn’t give my sewing machine away I wanted to use it for Scrapbooking originally but now that would be amazing for my handmade journals.
I so enjoyed watching your video! You combine talent, humor, charm and information. I will definitely be watching more! I'm a real newbie to the artistic world.
You should get a Cricut or Silhouette, then make 3D, paper flowers, houses and all other nice stuff from your paper, and you know all the tecnuiques for coloring and got the extras to make the most amazing things. Wonerful journal too.
Joy you're right I'm still scrapbooking but not in the sense of layouts. I think if we think of the word literally is to use scraps in a book which I'm doing. but what I quit is the 12x12 layout style. gracias por tus palabras!!
Great Video, Keren! I only have a big box full of papers and i think i have too much, so i can't imagine all the stuff you have! I still make some albums for family and friends and i'm keeping some collections for that purpose. Others of course will end up in my journals 😊 Thanks for sharing your tips!
Thank you so much for this video Karen! I’m in the process of destashing but LOVE what I have - and you have given me lots of ideas on how to incorporate these beautiful products in my mixed media projects! Xx
This is my 1st time watching you. You have such an eye/taste, knowledge, and an infinity of the right supplies that I can see you doing easily large Mixed media art projects. Besides gifting art materials you can also gift ART to senior homes etc. You are an Artist not a hoarder!!!
that's so true I never thought of that, give what I've made to senior homes. I've given to friends but still have so much. thank you so much and welcome to my channel!!
Lucky I watched this video. Yes I am an album-maker and still love it now but I want to start my art journal tho. Hopefully you can inspire me more. Love your artworks.
Great ideas. I'm so into scrapbooking lately. When I first subscribed to your channel, that is what you were doing along with steampunk art. Beautiful papers, mmmmmm, ha ha, XX
yes Sylvia you're right!! I did it for 17 years and I think I felt it was time to move on. There's so many people doing steampunk nowadays. I'm moving further...... going where the flow takes me!
I can relate to that 😅, I’ve being buying scrapbook paper for 15 years and don’t have the time to keep up with so many projects. Mixed Media have taking my scrapbooking to a whole new level, I absolutely LOVE mixed Media, but I could not quit scrapbooking ever 😊. Only wish the day had 48 hours instead of 24 😂 LoL, but since it doesn’t, I have to find the time to start scrapbooking again, haven’t done any scrapbook layout for a few years, but will start a new project soon 😊. Thanks for the ideas to use the papers in Mixed Media, and again thanks for sharing 🥰
Fantastic ideas! I have dabbled a little bit with art journaling and thought about getting back into it. I’ve been away from playing with PAPER for a couple years now because of big-time life changes. I’m discovering my mojo again and tapping into my creativity. I just started back with scrapbooking but making mini albums not full 12 x 12 layouts. I subscribed and look forward to watching more of your videos.
that's great Jenn!! so glad to hear. Yes I guess what I'm done with is 12x12 layouts. because I still use paper in other ways!! enjoy your creative journey!
Thanks for these great ideas Keren!! 🧡💜💖💙🧡 I have lots of paper packs from my card making days that I feel too guilty to have around... I'll definitely use your tips to use them up. You're great! Xxx
Yes all paper crafters have a lot of papers Whether they’re a scrapbook or card makers. Finding things to do with what we have is so important as well as buying you things both are important but lots of people on budget and using what you have is really good
Hi Keren! Thanks for another lovely video with many ideas on how to not only hoard and collect, but use all the materials to create a nice art journal page. I really loved the pages you've created and quickly showed in your "vintage book" journal. Do you maybe have videos on those as well? Thanks! Stay safe and be well
Hi there, I did do one live in may or june for a vintage art page, you can find it if you scroll down a bit. thank you so much for all your love and support!!
Hello Keren! Thank you sharing and you've given my some ideas. In your video I see a beautiful butterfly. Is that something you made? The blue artwork next to it also looks striking.
I love paper, too. The addiction is real. I am a cardmaker now,,,,a newbie and really have to hold back on the products.. :) Mixed media is fabulous, too.
Thank you so much for these ideas. I too could open my own shop and no longer scrapbook. I’ve kept a local kindergarten teacher supplied for a few years. And will again when schools open again.
@@KerenTamir JA. "Let's play and we see us at the table". herzliche Grüße, Kopf und Daumen hoch.
I quit scrapping too. Rarely even make a card now. I have given away/donated a scrapbook store worth of supplies and have another store worth. That's ok, we all need a hobby. Making art is a liberating experience.
yes I donated a lot too. I loved scrapbooking as it gave me creative freedom for 17 years but now I want even more. the liberating experience is phenomenal
THANKS FOR SHARING, I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN, HOW ABOUT JOURNALING, ITS A WONDERFUL CRAFT, YOU WOULD USE UP A LOT OF YOUR STASH, STILL BE CRAFTING AND MAYBE MAKE A FEW DOLLARS ALL THE BEST FOR YOUR FUTURE. 💜 CAMILLE 🇦🇺
oh I already do art journaling and like you see in my videos I use those papers a lot. I didn't quit art in general I only quit traditional 12x12 layouts
Some are hoarding and some are desperatly looking for interesting scrapbook papers cause it is not possible to get it easily in some countries (or you find something but it is looking boring or glossy .. mostly very expensive) I use those pages for Albums.. good use for making your own special photo album.. what is very old style in a modern worlds of Facebook and Digital Photo Frames and so on.
yes so true I know it's hard to find papers in some countries. However there's some gorgeous paper companies in Europe that is hard to get here in North America. glad you found ways to use it
I must say I am probably wanna do the same, I don’t scrap as much anymore. But I haven’t stopped totally. I having a little pause, where I paint a lot, with watercolour. Maybe a mix between them would be great.
Well I did a mix between them for 7 years now I'm taking either a long break or a forever break. I feel we should create whatever is in our heart. no matter what it is
You didn't think that albums would be something interesting to get into? That's my life now, retired, I spend all my time making albums and sharing my experience on RU-vid. ;-) Dominique
Margaret I used to think like that 8 years ago when art journaling started and it wasn't until 5 years later that I understood how much I needed it in my life. I'm not sure what type of art you do. If it's scrapbooking or cardmaking or even gift making then yes it makes sense why you'd feel that way because cards, layouts, gifts are practical. You can give them to people or put in albums for future generations. I did that for 17 years. I have so many albums and layouts in boxes that I actually doubt my kids will even give them a second glance. If you make paintings on canvases then yes art journaling can seem pointless too but it's actually the most helpful tool. Art journaling is JUST for me, and not for anyone else. Cards, scrapbooks, canvases, gifts are for others but art journaling is for me and only me. It's a way to express myself artistically without the limitations of wether or not someone will like it. It's a safe place to express ourselves, to experiment with new products (so we don't make a mistake when we are transferring it to the canvas) and its a small space that doesn't makes us feel like a hoarder. Your art journal doesn't have to be perfect you can make mistakes as if you do, then you can just flip the page and move on. Art journaling like a diary is a way to express what's inside of you, maybe sometimes without a practical purpose. But as you do it more and more you realize that the practical purpose is self expression, creativity and freedom.
Keren Tamir i have just started experimenting with art journaling. Your reply is a perfect explanation. Thank you for sharing! Been watching you a little while now and greatly appreciate all that share!! Xoxo 😊
Nooooo!!!! what do you mean? where are you going? you should stay!!! I'm still creating just not scrapbooking but I will show you how to use scrapbook papers for so much more.
Throw it all away? Don;t be silly ....make greeting cards instead, the craft world has moved on in the last 5-7 years and everyone is making greeting cards.
No way I'm throwing away. I've been open about the fact that although I've made many greeting cards over the years, it's not something that fulfills me so I stopped that too. But I found a way to use all my craft supplies which makes me happy.
