Since 8F is cancelled for the week as a result of illness in the household we packaged up the show in this video to get it out early. A large theme is that I took a break from the game, or at least played it in a very reduced capacity compared to the norm, and I found I enjoyed it much more. I quit just after they released the mantis, the thought of a whole new grind on top of everything i was already doing broke me. ALL of my time wasn't enough, scopely wanted more.

I've changed my play style myself. Was spending way too much time in game. I've stopped being ocd about completing everything. I look at payouts more and just do the ones that I feel are worth the time and effort. I still do the mining, swarm, and faction red killing dailies. That gets me my token everyday. Thanks for the video.

I took my first week long break. On day 3 now and honestly feel better and not compelled to grind and waste time. Think this break is helping me focus more.

I too am on break from the game. I've learned there's plenty of game companies out there who treats their players much better and care about their gaming life much better than Scopely. Was thinking I'd be in or out based on December.. but it's hard to think about *staying* until December. Ops 41.

Yep! Already have a job and wasn't looking for a second one when I downloaded STFC. Of course, this is coming from a content creator who has ended up making that something between a "hobby" and a "part-time job". 😅

My "win" state is this - I'm working on maxing out all my research to level. my win state is doing that. once I have that done, then I'm going to work on the ships that I have. I don't care about racing to a higher level, or being as efficient as I can be in leveling my ships as I level. almost have my second lock done, then later next week I'll start my tri-lock. I actually went through and max tiered (not max leveled) all my common officers. Why not? I love seeing all thoes "MAXED" green texts lol. sure, I could have used that to buy more enterprise blueprints, but meh. I'll get them eventually. I need to see wins in the game. these long term goals completely drain the enthusiasm for me (like the process for the bigger ships $600 or almost a year free to play for enterprise). A building finishing leveling and giving me 3% more of x isn't exciting, and doesn't equate a win for me. The game needs more feel good moments.

I took a break from some battlepass events myself this month and missed the overflow, even though I got the 20 day rewards. Whaddya know? I lived. I'll make sure to complete the fast pass events so I get that desealing rod and the rare directives. Had to decrease in game time finally and tend to more real life. I've spent too much time and money (for me) to give up now. LLAP

The Mantis needs ALOT of time, the ship is soo fricking slow ... often you have to fly across the map to renew the buffs so i changed my crew from a "Max Cargo" Configuration (cpt. 2of11 + 4of11 + Stonn (+La'an)) to a version that lets me finish faster Cpt. 5of11 + 4of11 + Kuron (+Lower Deck: "La'an") the 138 Impulse speed is sooo important - it allows me to kill more in the 5 min timers of the ExoComp buffs

I've been on December vacation. I'm admiral of a top 5 alliance on the server. I've played like 18 hours a day with no REAL progress. End up talking "hanging out" and more to the guys. The grind is PATHETIC. Vidar-grind. Stela-grind.Franklin-grind.Mantis-grind. Dailies-grind. Events-grind. Notice the trend..? The spend is also RIDICULOUS. eur300 on 3 officer packs gets you around 25% on each officer. 🤣 eur100 for 1/6th of a ships blueprints. Right now, a few of us are thinking of quitting. The model of STFC creates an addiction. I'd rather play Gwent 😉

I quit 6 weeks ago and will never go back. Scopely don't care about the player base only profits. I played from the start but copy and paste events and more £99 pack...... Nah I'll pass!

Yeah, those exist on most servers from time-to-time. Sometimes they decide they want the alliance loot for events and play nice, other times they get even more bored and go find someone else to bother but they very rarely stick around forever.

Great perspective for a "seasonned" player. I am at ops46 and getting also the "burned out" feeling for a while now. Too much time spent, trying to do everything and just getting frustrated for missing out a couple of things... that's really not "healthy"... listenning to your POV is really like refreshing and validating for my "feelings" towards the game. My frustration and reaction to problems and bugs - and there are a lot of those in this game!!! - just taking away the fun... over 4 years playing this and still feeling under-accomplished although only in my eyes, still takes a toll on my "fun time".

Dear Black Half Dan...Good advice and too true the game is very demanding as of late and I personally have reduced game time too. but somehow still keep up with the loops and dailies on top of the Battlepass stuff...but my approach to the game has eased off quite significantly and my expectations priorities have changed somewhat. As for Scopely, well...I have experienced playing an MMO game before for 5 years straight and learned from that experience never to put your expectations too high when it somes to developers, so I applied that to STFC and have not been disappointed too much. Anything better than what Scopely has delivered thus far, to me..is always a bonus and I move on pretty quickly from one debacle to the next...really no point complaining too much, just a waste of time, energy and effort on my part. To me it's pretty simple..either stay and play to the bestt hat you can or quit and be done with it. So far, so good..I'm still making what little progress as a generally free to play (with some spending, here and there) and the team I have are a good bunch of people...many have come and gone in my 4 years in the game but the group has evolved and there are still some good ones that have remained...Let's just see where this takes me...day to day. Good content, as usual...please keep it coming and shout out to the BHD Gaming Group as a whole. Shahril Kamarulzaman, thank you for the kind words towards our group and the wishes for the family. We seem to be mostly mended now in time to enjoy Halloween. Great insight into your playstyle and even play "perspective". I have been moving closer towards your way the past week or two and the game feels a lot less "heavy" to me now. Which is great because it has also helped me re-focus on the channel without being too stressed about what's going on in the game. 4 years playing is awesome! Which server are you on? I'm right there with you, the mantis made the game unenjoyable for me. I was pushing it before that grind time wise in the game, and that grind made it a job to try and keep everything maxed out every day, along with completing everything. That grind alone, starting out takes more than an hour and its horribly slow and annoying. I really hope they do something to make the legacy grinds faster, there's no reason you should have to spend 3-5 hours grinding every day in a mobile game.

Agree 100% @Kevin dahme. Having to tie oneself to a game for multiple of hours a day to remain not even "competitive" but even "relevant" as many players feel is a big strain. I'm shifting my own focus towards "fun" and not "efficiency" lately and it has helped me let my shoulders down a bit and enjoy the game at my own pace - really for the first time since I downloaded the game. Gotta say, it's a different world, haha. 🖖

Free to play. I started at launch. Quit at Stella launch. Started back summer this year ('23). Just uninstalled again. Cant stay connected, super laggy. WAY too many non-active hostiles chewing up RAM. Moe important, half the arcs are only 20% true cannon.

Main accounts for the BHD8 Gaming crew are on server 63, but we've got a friend with a dead account that was a big spender before coming to 63 over on 49 - so we're using it as a good "benchmark" account since it won't get played anymore. In theory, only factors at a server-wide level should contribute to packs getting better for that account since it doesn't spend and isn't Ops-ing up any longer.

@@Secure_Play hopefully it works to make them bigger with more people but didn't see much change after the server merger, 48/49, and now after tons of people departing the game server 49 is looking a little thin on people again.

I'm playing EVE for the most part and just doing stfc like an hour or 2 a day -- I'm pretty damn tired of the $copely BS and I will see how the server mergers will affect players (and yes, they posted the Incursion list today, with a blurb of a server on the merge list) - so as more n more players leave the game, server mergers will take place more n more.
